I needed this! My family just moved into a new house and there’s been a lot of changes recently, not to mention the fact that I leave for college next month and she’s not a fan of me having boyfriend and my poor baby has been giving me all kinds of trouble

On the subject of music: my family’s past two dogs have actually really loved Talk Radio! Our going theory is that they find the voices calming, especially for shows that we play a lot when we’re at home so they get used to associating the hosts’ voices with us? We usually tune in to NPR and leave it on for them when we have to leave them alone for a while - our current old lady seems to especially enjoy Terry Gross’s cadence on “Fresh Air”, while our previous dog would always perk up and wag for the guys from “Car Talk” back when that was still on the air. 😂 Maybe this will be helpful to someone with an anxious friend?

I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much, but he barks A LOT... So, leaving home is always a challenge for us. My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? THANK YOU!!!

More cat videos please >^..^ You are a handsome man I use the security video/audio to talk to my crazy cat. He just paces in the hall and soothingly tell him let’s go night night, Like I do a bed time. As with cats, sometimes stuff works, other times nope I’m going to sit here and bitch. Then I stop talking to him, it’s hard as it works so well then other times I have a pacing cat crying, ignoring toys. An hour or two he stops.....cats. Just glad I don’t live in an apartment with neighbors who bitch. I have my own house :)

Do you have these for cats? Mine can't be alone for over 2 days or he's acting differently (until he notices me, then he just gets the "Hoomanglue" he ordered on Amazon and rubs it on me. It dissolves after 24h ) By alone I mean he is fed and his litter box is cleaned and all and a pet on the head and body.... But. He. Wants My. Snuggle Background of owner 1 is unknown but my catwas probably very well socialized and then the owner most likely suddenly died. Owner 2 had him from year 8-17;8 but had to go inpatient. She was home during Friday late afternoon-Sunday early evening after the owner had gone inpatient she noticed how he did his things right in front of the litter box (with no issues at the shelter). So the guess was they just didn't clean it much or maybe at all. Not a lot of cuddling time just feeding and gone. The owner realized that wasn't something she wanted for him and after 4weeks decided to bring him to a shelter. The cat with FelV had to be put to sleep but my cat didn't have the illness. Yet.... 4 torturous months. He was a quiet cat, but knew after a few days that getting out of the cage meant earcleaningtime so it was almost a sport to get him or let him walk into the basket. He is almost 20 now and although slowly seeing and feeling the years on him, I wonder if this history caused some separation anxiety. He can cry for ne ripping my heart out (as if a child cries for his mom) but when I'm sick it's better not to have him on my bed and I wouldn't be myself anyway. Any ideas, tips to make him feel less scared? I have already decided that I don't careif he lives for 10 more years (2,5 years ago) , my long vacations have to wait.

Yep! Nothings worse than people treating themselves to the self-satisfaction when coming home & their dog makes them feel indispensable. So they act-out like an idiot yelling: “Ya Ya Ya, good boy/girl, who missed me Yip, Yip, Yip, Hooray, who’s a good dog, who’s a good dog... WHO MISSED ME?” Instead they NEED TO, act as calm as can be, as if they’ve not been gone at all. A real dumb thing to do... especially for those dogs who lose bladder control when excited. Of course then some owners get...as 😡 PISSED as the poor 🐕!

River Rain :3 -yep, it’s a great feeling to have a dog love or actually respect you so much they get nutsy-wild, jumping barking etc. . What’s sad is, when people get the dog excited & then get angry at the dog, when bladder control is lost That’s just fear & anxiety not necessarily love.

Seriously?? Advising peanut butter and other unhealthy hunan food as good 'distactions' for dogs!! and you claim to be a vet ???wow.. yess they may a brilliant distraction right now, but in the long run all it does is cause serious health problems and make 'vets' like yourself that little bit richer. Go to your local pet store/raw feeders (whichever you prefer) and get none preservatives/chemical, natural and healhly your pet really deserves. X

Not really. As long as the dog's primary source of food is high quality kibble or raw food, snacks won't hurt them.
