With this simple router table anyone can do quality woodwork at home. The Makita RT0700C router is the one used in the video, but the same concept can be used with just any kind of wood router.

I have been working in wood for over sixty years, this is a superb video, using hand tools instead of expensive electrical alternative that appear in so many other posts. I thank you for taking the time to make this and for posting so that others may learn. May you and your loved ones live long and prosper.
Absolutely perfect design for me. Fed up with other ideas using a lot of fiddly bits and having lots of room to use it. I’m a hobbyist crammed in a small garage with little room for storage. This idea is first class.
Finally, a "simple" router table that does not include $400 worth of T Tracks! :)

@@ureasmith3049, I literally just got a Chinese Makita just like this one! 😂 So, perfect table for me! :D
People post completely unnecessary negative and critical posts. At the least people could try and be nice and respectful about their comments. I wonder how much time they have taken out of there day to make a video that is only there to help others. Thank you Ognyan for taking time out of your day to post this helpful video.

Well said. Just what I was thinking as I read the comments.
Just in case anyone is wondering, the Makita base plate comes with #10 - 24tpi - 3/8" screws. I'll be using 1/2" ply for my router table and therefore will need 7/8" screws. Great video!
Exactly what i was looking for since i have the same Makita router, thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Simple, practical and inspiring. Excellent tutorial and great video!
At last, a project that didn't need a workshop full millions of pounds worth of tools.

Fa real...most other ones i saw made simple if you got a whole supply of shop equipment laying around...industrial size m to make small bench
Ognyan, this is exactly what I'm looking for. An easy to build, once in awhile router table that I can clamp anywhere. Simple and ingenious.
I build something like this recently and you solved one critical problem for me: what to do with the errant router base plate when it's not being used. Outstanding!
That is so awesome i am in shock how simple , I am new to wood working and this is something my skill level could do. Thank you for making it so easy.
Beautifully simple !!! Cheers Ognyan !
probably the easiest to follow router table video I have seen. great stuff.
Thanks for this. I viewed a few router table videos, and while there were some nice ones there-with bells and whistles, torsion box construction, precision jointing, well-equipped workshop required, etc, etc-when I saw this one with its simple construction and swinging fence, I looked no further. I just added a bolt and thumbscrew at the free end of the fence, the bolt swinging though a short closed arc cut into the base board, to let me easily lock the fence in place. And after my router dropped to the floor when I was setting it up for the first test, I added an anchor in the form of a soft coil spring with a quick-release clip at ether end, that I had in my junk box. It was either that, or go to IKEA and buy a nice cushion for the floor ;-)
Great video, very simple and informative. I like the use of used lumber as well. Nice job.
After watching several how to's I think you win. I for one appreciate every screw you put in..If I knew how to do it I would not be watching your video. Thank you!
I used this as a basis for my DIY router table. It turned out to be quite useful. Love the music, too (whatever it was). Thanks !
Brilliant. Thanks to you, I now have my own Fake-kita router table. It worked like a charm.
Behind the truck seat portable. Very nice, easy to take to a job site for folks that want something simple and not ultra heavy.
Great video!!! I'm going to store today to buy a fixed base router and I will make this tomorrow!. Just what I need to make some kitchen cabinet doors. Thanks for posting it!
The most simple solution I've seen so far, yet fully functional and sufficient. Thank you!
This is by far one of the simplest router table builds I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.
This is brilliant. Not only fits the bill for smaller scale jigs but something that makes sense and isnt too complicated for a novice with limited slills like myself. Thank you so much. Just what i was looking for!

Thank you. I had a similar idea and have the same Makita router you have. This is so much better than what I had in mind. I'll make this today.
Love it. I built one similar to this a couple of years ago, still use it.
WAITAMINUTE! You’re telling me you built something without using a SawStop? How is that even possible? OK, silliness aside, I like the straightforward manner in which you built this and will be building one myself.

Right. Not even a screw driver. The man sanded the cut out for the bit with his Leatherman! Normally it's "Simple budget router table requires another router, a table saw, whole home dust collection, approval from your HOA, 2 pine cones, some tree sap, the wrapper from a stick of double mint gum, a PHD in metaphysics, oh and if you have a TIG welder, great..."
Thanks for the video. Tomorrow morning I'll make it! Thanks again!
This was so simple & very knowledgeable,,,,,,,some guys just like to make wood work a *NASA PROJECT* for unnecessary reasons
Thanks man. Very well done!
I enjoyed your video. It was very helpful. Thank you!
Made mine today, what a fantastic small Router table, i will use it many times.
Thank you. Much appreciated, neat work and did the trick for me 👍
I love the hinged guide rail.
Nice, just wondering if there is any purpose to attaching the mounting bracket as well? Just for extra support or is it doing something that I'm missing?
Great video, thank you! Building this right now :)
So simple, well done. For me this is a great setup
Awesome. This is the easiest and likely option for me!!
This video is for beginners like me that I'm just about to dedicate myself to DIY after my retirement and my third age. Thanks for thinking about us. I already have a masters degree as visitors of carpentry videos and I hope to soon nail my first nail. I'm just evaluating my first electric tools and some accessories. I'm thinking of making a good table with a table top with enough size to make three that fit the same table; Router, Caladora, and Sierra. It would be three tables removed and put on the same table. I apologize for my bad English, please.
Nice job, it's amazing how easy it was to make this simple jig. Who needs expensive router tables.... I could never understand the need to cut a big opening and place an expensive plate in its place.
Love it !!
That was an excellent video and solution... The closeups were fantastic ... Very useful for my needs.... Thank you.
Well done. As a weekend hobby woodworker in my retirement, this is ideal.
This is fabulous!!!! Ingenious even!!
Good design. I've been planning on making a portable router table that I can set over saw horses. This has some elements that will work well. The swinging fence is a great idea!

how to mount vac to swinging fence
I have not been very active on KZread for the last couple of years, but I am planning on continuing posting new videos in the near future. In the meantime I am trying to publish more of my recent work on Instagram: @ogy_tonchev
I have a Katsura trimmer which looks just like the Makita. Most videos show larger machines so I am glad to see this. The problem I have is finding the size and description of the screws used.
I will be making this! Thank you for the video.
Wow wow very straight forward and simple really appreciate the vid. Thanks
That's a great solution. I've never thought to have the fence as a swinging arm. Much easier and quicker to set. Thanks.

Exactly! That's the simple genius of this one.
Thanks for that. So simple and effective
Brilliant.!!!! .....just what I'm looking for.!!!!!!!
Cool, simple is always the best way. I am going to make exactly the same once my shop is finished.
Great Job, just what I need. How accurate is the fence for measuring a rebate compared to a parallel fence?
Great vid but I could not work out the reason for bolting the plate along the centre. It seems redundant when using the tool as a table router?
Thanks for the measurements !

where is the dust collection attachment come from? the clear part attached to the vacuum hose?
@markgriffiths7757

That comes on the router. It’s supposed to clip to the part that is now screwed under the table.
When making the fence, was there a reason why he didn't use the forstner bit that he used on the table?
After watched many more videos you are the best, simple & understandable for me like beginners...thankyou so much...

great video I just bought the bosch colt and I think im going to make this,,,,where did you get your dust shield
@Dottie237

I bought the Colt as well. At 77 yo and a woman at that, I am going to build this little jewel. The things a person can do with that are limitless.
I liked watching it at this speed. I don't like the way most of the videos speed through them so fast. It's easy enough to skip ahead if needed. Much more realistic at this speed and easier for beginners I think.
Do you remember what size bolts/screws you used for this?
Nice work...
What model is your Makita router Bud? Looks to be just what I want,..... Regards, Allyn Hansen New Zealand
347 Thumbs up, 31 Thumbs down says something about his video. Thought you did a very good presentation!
Hi love the video can I ask the size of the screws please
excellent, Thank You.
Hey Ognyan, great idea, economically realized. Congratulations. Regards from Germany Hans-Joachim
So with the router not being flush will this cause any problems?
What size screws did you use for the baseplate?
Nice and simple thank you
Many thanks, even I could follow that!

Great and simple idea, thanks for sharing. One question though, why did you leave that sidepiece on the router? You can do without it and it saves you the trouble of having to screw that as well.

Buenas tardes compañero la tablita va atornillada a la mesa despues de terminar el proyecto te lo agradesco mucho de cd. de mexico
Does the top of the collet need to be flush against the top of the hole? I have a similar router but find that my router bit does not portrude out by much from the hole. I am using 3/4" plywood.
@boots7859

Thats why there are router base templates that are usually 9x12" that fit into a routed section of the table. The templates are usually 1/4" or less which gives you full height of your bits. Alternative is the musclechuck router bit that fits into your router, which you bit then fits into the musclechuck. Sort of like a ratchet extension bit. Much easier and faster to change bits, although a tad expensive.
A tenon saw and a chisel would make the job of making the cutout in the fence for the router bit much easier.
Thank you. This is one I can build!
Excellent

Good job ... simple and effective but I have a comment,, I think you should of taking the router plate out for more depth. Thank you ... I have the done the same with a bigger router 2,1/4 hp router for larger and more professional work and the best is to use mdf for long lasting flat service with the same method that you did ....
