Very Rusty Old Hunting Knife Restoration. 300 Years Underground!
Ойын-сауық
Very rusty old hunting knife restoration.
I found this rusty old knife in the woods on the site of an old house that was in the 18th century. The knife was very rusty. He lay underground for 300 years. I decided to restore it. Removed the rust and made a handle from a roe deer horn. I hope you liked my restoration!

I enjoyed watching this. The craggy surface of the roe horn goes really well with the pitted blade. But a rusty knife found in close proximity to an 18th century structure does not make the knife 18th century.

I follow several restorers and I get suggestions for more and I am often underwhelmed by the channels. Yours on the other hand has really piqued my interest. Very awesome, Thank You.

Again millions of ups & downs throughout the whole knife & that ring too. Again no sandblasting, no cold blueing. This time no electrolysing either. And 300 year old! Why It's not in a museum then? Shame on you liar.
He always seems at peace and happy in his vids, despite not seeing his face you can feel the care and joy he puts into these restoration videos.

I'm currently going through a restoration phase in my life and for some unique reason I've been compelled to watch these restorative videos. It's odd but therapeutic at the same time. And the fact that he wears gloves 😍. Might not make sense to some, but you're helping others in your own way. Those that can relate, it's fascinating to see how something so beat up can be transformed into something so beautiful. That's what Jesus has done for me. Thanks for the content.
О мастер очень хорошая работа. А я думал через минуту 5 выкинет ножик. Красивый сувенир получился. Удачи.

wonder what the cutler, who originally made this knife, would say seeing you restaurate the thing after 300 years! though i'm pretty sure he'd be very impressed!

MASTERPIECE!
Beautiful job , 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Має дуже крутий вигляд. Прямо кульно -культово . )))
i really love this guys work he is really good at it and shows you how its done in a really relaxing and asthetic way but you shouldnt use motor oil as quenching oil, it highly toxic and carcinergetic, use a heated canola oil or any indurty sandard quenching oil much safer for your lungs. other then that really good, love your work keep on going.

Next thing you restore, try using water first it might help getting the rust loosened more
That looks like the entire thing was made from wrought iron. Was it laminated with something to have a better edge? It won't harden if it didn't but it looks great. I think a quick acid etch would really bring out the character of that blade.
It turned out very well (👍🏻), maybe you should have left the blade a bit more in its "authentic" state - now it's "very shiny" 😀.
Привіт! Євген коли на черговий коп?) Вже цікаво подивитися як будеш розкопувати (смітник, палатку чи бліндаж)

I think you are pulling some of these dates out of thin air.
You know, I was sliding between my overview for the different videos and my first thought of this subnail was “oh what a weird looking piece of pizza” and that I it was just a piece of old metal haha

@@ReXtorer Я понял. Спасибо за видео. Очень нравится 👍
I know the soda looks cool reacting with the vinegar, but I have seen much better results with soaks like Evaporust or WD-40 rust remover. Muratic acid will definitely do it but may take some metal with it.

The soda is less-than-meaningless. I do like vinegar but it can take days to clear off thick rust. Four hours is insignificant. Citric acid is similar, as is Oxalic acid. Evaporust and Electrolysis would have been much, much better for this piece.
This knife should be used in harry potter movies. Voldemort’s knife probably...
Please use your sand blaster
You need sandblasting machine.
9% ? Should have been 100% white vinegar and more like 24hours...there would be little to no rust left to clean off...that was a waste of your time...BUT it still came out great nonetheless!
