buying a 1926 #2 for less than 40 bucks but it was painted in Very good condition. Have to find out if it takes away the value and how to clean the pain without ruining the finish. Very little rust.

Clear coat on the bare metal would have been nice, it is going to rust with it. Nice resto. I love the old lanterns.

During Operation the wick should not be above the burner cone with the slot in it. The wick should only ever be about the width of the wick in height above the wick tube. If black soot is coming off the flame, it is not being burned properly as black soot only occurs when the wick is being burned, and no the fuel itself. Nice Restoration by the way, the top chimney (the metal cylinder above the globe, not to be confused with the glass part called a chimney that goes on a lamp) is fixed into place by a special machine in the factory and is usually destroyed when you try to remove it. I will keep your process in mind if I ever work on a modern Dietz, the older Dietz chimneys are not spot welded and thus much harder to pull apart as you did.

Quite interesting, it makes me to think about manufacturing process, because today this kind of kerosene lamps is quite cheap and it seems to be made almost completely using zinc tin and some press. It made me to watch video how beer can is made, but it's area which is somewhat mysterious to me.

You really tear into these things! Good job on that D-Lite! Now, how long are you leaving it in the e-tank? Ive seen less rust when I’ve had some of my projects e-tanked. You do detailed work, amazing! Yet, why the black engine paint on the burner and globe plate? Personal taste? If you want to protect it from rust, I’d use a silver or chrome high temp paint, it’s much more reflective than black. You’re going to get more illumination from silver...just my observations. Keep it up!
