Very Large Crude Carrier.

@@DjBrancoOfficial Dream on: the Knock Nevis has been in Rotterdam several times. It doesn't exist anymore. If it wouldn't fit in - by far the largest port in Europe - Rotterdam, it for sure wouldn't fit in any other European port.
8000 years ago, some guy saw a large tree limb floating by and decided to try to ride it. After a while he thought, if I hollow it out, I could ride it even better. He showed another guy what he had done and they both rode around in it - had the time of their lives. At some point they started to use long sticks and crude paddles to change direction. And now, you have this.

I started a youtube ship channel. I'm a boatmen and do the mooring, unmooring and bring the pilots to the ships. So I come very close to and make videos about mooring, unmooring and piloting. COME AND TAKE A LOOK TO MY CHANNEL
Forgot. To give the tugboats credit the ships couldn't dock when they come into port to load...unload without them. Hats off to the tugs an their. Operators they make it happen.

Stunning capture of everything. Even the Tugs, turbines and even the birds. Thanks for sharing.
Woow ! how ships have changed. I envy & give credit the men that build, service & run these monsters. Having served years on oil tankers myself ,foreign going . Years, many years ago I was amazed of the bright colours & size of tankers that could only take on crude oil in the Persian Gulf while at anchor & would leave well before we'd leave the jetty. I enjoy & appreciate close up video's of ship building, engine building & service's especially the deep & powerful sound at those humungous diesel engine. Thanks for sharing 🤝👍
I find it so amazing that such giant and heavy ships can stay on course and afloat.

You don't realise how massive these ships are until up close to one
I'm amaze how the containers stay intact without falling if there's big waves in the ocean.
The boatmen are really big heroes everyone of them!!
Extremely nice ! Flawless beauty !
Amicalement.
Amazing and close scene of container ship.
What an amazing display of engineering these giants are.
I’m the captain of a small cargo ship (1200 tdw) my ship is just a few meters longer than the Olympic Life is wide…hahahaha An arrival takes me 15 minutes, 20 if complicated. For the Olympic Life an arrival takes all morning!
Hope one of these days you all fo videos on ships passing through the suez canal in egypt and the Singapore Strait. Love your videos 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹

This VLCC really has an impressive width. It is hard to understand that there are even wider ones but I remember the TT Nanny which was 20 meters wider than this colossus. But those were other times when there were plenty of ULCCs over 400,000 dw. Thank you for the incredibly nice uploads, they are like balm for the soul / Adam from Sweden
Awesome floating machines!
That was fantastic! 💯

you have been some great motivation to go out to sea, guys! 👑
Good god. To be 3 times the weight of the battleship Yamato is surely a feat! Simply astonishing what humans can put on the seas of this Earth.
Great video ! No music, love it !

When I was younger, I use to fish 20ft from super tankers when they where off loading crude oil. Right by the prop. Imagine being 15 years old fishing in a 12 foot boat you build next to that ship! We never worried about the proximity, because they filled it full of seawater before they left for another crude run to Venezuela. Did you know that as they off load cargo the propeller is still turning super slow? The blades are almost entirely out of the water at that point. I don't quite remember, but ONE blade was about 18 feet. Olympic Life is not the biggest tanker. I was told back then, it was to keep the shaft lubricated.
@tomcline5631

Actually it's to keep from egging the bearings. If they stopped the shaft,it would actually sink into the bottom of the bearing, causing it to be out of round.

This is too funny. The jetty that the Olympic life is docking to is at the company that I work for. Team Terminal BV. Very nice to see a video shot from the other side. Normally I stand at the end of the jetty to guide the ship into position via the pilot.

Great video, as always! The LNG powered Montmartre is cool and interesting.. 1st comment btw!
That small boat sooo powerfull😂
Wowwww wowwww so very big ship....
That command center is like thirty stories above sea level..would of enjoyed ship Captain and Tug Captions communications..
Those ships should have a sticker at the back saying “we brake for no one”

These ships look seriously overloaded.

It is because their fire pump is running. The nozzles for the chain wash is feed by the fire system. They are always (almost) kept open as pressure relief when the fire pump is running.

Would be interesting to see how these massive ships, behave, in heavy sea and storms.
@stevec.2702
large tankers in heavy seas you can look forward and see the ship bend along the length of its keel. It's normal but does scare you the first time you see it. Also in heavy sea's the ship starts to roll after a few hours. When in calmer waters the ship still continues to roll. The momentum built up in the rough weather takes days to subside.

@@stevec.2702 YIKES!! Would take a special set of nerves to live and work in such "normal" conditions! For most the fear would be paralyzing.
Insurance companies have found that, on average, three of these ships can be expected to be lost by rogue waves each and every year.
it intentionally expects you to have endless mastery in seefaring!
