Indeed, not only did it wait patiently for that UPL, but it also didn't creep forward like a Tesla would. I would assume this perfect UPL is mostly due to LIDAR, but the takeaway is clear: Passengers feel 10000x more safe during UPLs if the car doesn't creep-stop-creep-stop. They also trust the system 10000x more if it commits and doesn't slow down at the apex of a turn.

Very impressed with that first left out that neighborhood arcoss them 3 lanes of traffic, i expected to see it go right and circle back around or something. Btw welcome back brotha we missed you or atleast i did.

Lots of stares in this one!! It did a good job at the unprotected left. I caught a nice unprotected left turn at the stop light and it took a couple minutes to wait for traffic, and if you look closely you can see another oncoming car that the Waymo (safety) turns in front of. I've noticed that when Waymo will eventually be making a left turn, it drives for miles in the left lane even when the right lane is empty. That's not a recommended practice in most places.

This is true. although technically the law, I'm not sure how much that people actually pay attention to it on metro Phoenix surface streets. Most definitely the freeway though.

@@JJRicks Changing lanes has its challenges, so I expect that Waymo is programmed to avoid it unless necessary.
