Very FIRST flight of my Airborne Outback Trike!

Спорт

Filmed by Sifu Lance Brazil and his Dji Spark drone. It's a very different perspective from a drone that is just parked in space! First flight of my new (2007) Outback Trike! Playing on the Jean Dry Lake just outside Las Vegas. Check out Lance's channel also. Thanks also to Russel Watson and Seether for the tune'age.

    Hi Frank. Flying by the seat of your pants can be much more challenging and fun than eating your lunch, while the computer flies the aircraft. Sounds like a button pusher to me... Keep the "Real" aircraft up high as to not interfere with the actual flying... I should mention that many "low and slow" pilots are airline or fighter pilots during the regular work week. I am sorry you have never tasted this type of flying. You don't know what you are missing. :-)

    Kind of a typical lame brain, Larry. My first rating and 1,000 hours of PIC time are in sailplanes. So, yep, buddy, I push buttons but I'm guessing I have more "engine out" hours than about 90% of licensed and pretend pilots and motorized kite flyers. Prior to getting my rating I was doing 250 mile missions in gliders out of Estrella (E68) down in Arizona under the supervision of Les Horvath - so don't make any assumptions about what I have or haven't "tasted" in terms of flying. As a matter of fact, I've had a few near run-ins with various kite fliers who had no respect for right of way conventions - keep the kites low and well away from published air routes. Once I was required to carry a transponder in a sailplane I think a kite flier operating at anything over 1,500 feet AGL should be required to do the same.

  • @Frank-ue6eg

    @Frank-ue6eg

    6 жыл бұрын

    Larry - probably best to zip it at this point - I'm sure I have multiples of the hours you have - ranging from a hang glider to sailplane, to single engine land, to multi-engine to seaplane.

    Don’t leave the seat of a running trike.. a gust of wind can tip it over, you can easily walk into the prop (black props become invisible when turning), or the machine can start moving on its own. We had one of our guys, who made a habit of leaving his trike during warm up had his trike start to roll. In his panic he stuck his hand through the prop disc. He lost all the fingers on that hand

    I agree whole heartedly, but when it is really cold (like below freezing) the battery is not enough to start it so I gotta pull the lawnmower cord to start. I usually put the front wheel against my truck wheel so it can't go anywhere. And I am keenly aware of the prop disc. Thanks.
