Very Beautiful Antique Women's Handbag - Restoration ASMR
Hello everybody!🖐 @TheRestorer is with you again.🔥😎
In this video I will show my restoration of a very beautiful and antique women's handbag made of metal. This miniature vintage handbag was very rusty and covered in corrosion. This indicates that the handbag has been lying in the ground or water for a long time. The surface is in very poor condition. The handbag is made of brass, bronze and copper. These metals are resistant to deep corrosion, which is why it has survived to this day. Such products were often made in the Middle Ages. Therefore, this rare handbag is probably more than 500 years old. There are beautiful carved details on the surface. This gives it uniqueness, inimitability and beauty. I wonder who was the owner of this unique relic? Wealthy nobles? Princesses or queens?) I think such things were very expensive and valuable in ancient times. If you have more information or guesses about this ancient thing, then write in the comments. I will be very interested to know more.
I hope you liked the result✨ of the restoration.🙂

This brass and copper handbag is referred to as a “pillow purse”. I purchased mine NEW in 1972 for about $6.00. They were considered “Hip” when we wore them with our bell bottoms, long embroidered vests, puffy long sleeved blouses and platform shoes or boots. They were all the rage but extremely impractical. At that time, you only needed to put a comb, lipstick, cigarettes and a lighter in them. After continually opening them to get out a cigarette, the latch became an annoyance. Todays sellers mistakenly date it to the 1930s. They sell now anywhere from $30-$100 depending on condition. Mine also had a blue velvet interior. Beautiful restoration.

I have one that I bought in the 70s it’s brass I still have it it’s in mint condition.. it’s not a practical purse but I did use it often when I went out on weekends to discos… it is unique and many have asked me where I got it ..don’t remember how much I paid for it but it definitely is a conversation piece..the restoration is great and never thought that rust would come off the way it did … it really looked totally corroded..

@@deborahbryant3266 I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say the red velvet looked “cheap.” But, I also was quite looking forward to a royal blue velvet lining. Probably because red feels somewhat overdone(?). In fact, I might have even deviated from the original unfinished/raw lining edge to include some sort of finish trim to cover/hide that edge. Either make certain the edges were properly finished prior to gluing the lining inside the bag, or glue a piece of trim such as lace or beading over the raw edge so that it looked finished and elegant. And if we’re going to stick to repairs equal to when the bag was manufactured, maybe including several crisp $100 bills wildly missed the mark? Perhaps a $5 and some $1’s would be a bit more accurate? Maybe a lipstick or loose powder in era appropriate containers or a small pad of paper and pencil or even a few calling cards?!

I bet this was colored or had silver plating, lacquered, which is why it was covered in "rust." The warmer base metal seems fine with a red interior.

I think your work is beautiful. I was thinking though that the lack of finishing on the fabric edge of your lining kind of lets this down, as does the closing of the jump rings (attaching the chain to the bag). If you use two pairs of pliers to open the rings in opposite directions (instead of pulling them apart) they can be closed the same way and you'll keep the perfect circle.

I have to agree, I wished he had done a better job with the lining fabric rather than just gluing the raw edges.
This is amazing ! The care and thought you put into the metal work was so fine and delicate! I hate to say there's anything amiss...the lining is going to fray if it's left unfinished on the edges. Especially if it's cotton or silk. I would have loved to see the original blue color(just my preference). It's an elegant piece with beautiful metal restoration. For that I say10.

Beautifully done....9 out of 10 because of the color choice for the velvet. Age probably...made in India in the 60's or 70's. I had something similar in my HIPPIE DAYS. Look forward to watching more of your restorations.👏
It's more than 10, it's solid 100! It was so satisfying to watch this rusty box turning into this amazing peace of art it was meant to be.

What I’m most impressed about is the fact you got copper and brass to rust lmao

Right? Aren’t most of these videos faked as in they made them dirty or rusted and then ‘restore’ them?

Exactly, I was wondering if anyone else caught that.

Also something that rusted would have lost integrity. Rust errodes metal there would have been holes.
I watched this a few days ago and neglected to comment: I give this an 11/10! I've never seen anything like this bag before and I think it may be more beautiful than it was originally.

I’m just confused on how rust formed on top of what looks to be a copper/bronze surface.. neither of which form any rust when oxidized. Any explanations?

HellO! It's not all rust. And the rust spilled over from other rusty objects near which this bag was found. Where are you watching from?🌍😉
Can we all admire how much work this person put into the bag. They could have skipped a few steps but didn't and now it looks so lovely. Good as new

10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stunning how you brought it back to it's glory days. I think it's 1920s, perhaps 1930s, almost 100 years old. Amazing 😍❤

Lovely little evening bag. Good job!
You got a 10+! Such detail and patience. It's gotta be late 1800s. The red lining brings out the "golden sheen" of the metal. I would be proud to take this bag to a grand dinner party or the opera! I think of who might have owned this treasured piece, and how it got into such deplorable condition. What a find! Thank you so much for extending its colorful life.

It’s probably 1970s or early 80s. Trendy at that time
Incredible work 10 out of 10. My daughter she's in South Africa got a little bag like that which she bought from a antique shop. Must say was lovely watching how you restored that beautiful bag keep it up you don't always see people with so much passion for old stuff.

I would give you a 10/10. I absolutely love this. I also love the fact that you don't have any music in the background, or weird amplified noises to cover the soothing sound of your equipment. You sir a4e a master in my humble opinion.
Ridiculously soothing and interesting. Beautiful work on this.

That is either an 11 or 12 restoration! Getting rid of the twisted wire "hinge pin" took it over the top. I have to say I preferred the blue velvet liner over the red, but that's just personal taste. Great job and a glorious result!
This is the best antique restoration I have seen yet, would've love to see you restore a bespoke shoes or an antique watch, thanks!
