Tbh smart dolls are better The doll in the video look like dorm cheap factory doll. Accessories that can't come off, wigs attached with Velcro Hair shedding. And it's not even sepreatly packed The scarf is terribly made 3 skin tones on one doll Factory defects Catalog is stupid It's more to a scam. Smartdolls have much more time and deitals.

Ucanaan dolls are lovely, I see lots of beautiful pictures of them on instagram. And some faceups here in youtube. It's a lovely form, if you are into customizing your dolls, there's potential 🌈

I was so down to customize the ucanaan doll bc the printed makeup looked ugly but I looked into it more and the uncanaan/Doris/kilig doll head is a very obvious recast. I don’t have hundreds to spend on nice dolls but I wouldn’t buy a cheap recast if it meant stealing from actual artists :(

Danny Choo said that the joints for all Smart Dolls will always be a different color than the body, because they’re made of a different material, so it would be impossible for him to get an exact match. I’m guessing this is the case for a lot of companies as well, including the Ucanaan company. (:

I just received my Ucanaan doll today! She’s my first BJD, and she’s beautiful. Her face is even prettier in person, her hair is just lovely, and her clothes are fantastic. I chose Weiya (blonde dressed all in pink) because I loved her look. I will definitely get more of these dolls! Many thanks to you for reviewing Ucanaan and making me aware of them - I didn’t think I could ever afford a BJD! 😊

I’m glad you love her, but just so everyone knows Ucanaan and even Smart Doll are not true BJDs. Ball-Jointed Dolls have ball joints. Ucanaan and even Smart Doll are MJDs, Mechanical Jointed Dolls.

the video was just to show the differences, not about happiness lol. personally, I feel like the amazon doll is worth it, there's better reflexes, and the doll gives me a porcelain and kawaii vibe. especially for the cheap price, you can always find more accessories on etsy and amazon, i'd prefer the amazon doll over the smart one since it's too expensive, and more fragile tbh.

Never had a doll while growing up but I always made stuff for one. I'm a 53yr young single parent of 2 new College Grads and came across this video in April. I was happy about the Smart Doll but sad of the price tag. My 25yr old daughter said I will buy you the Amazon version. So thanks for the Inspiration.

Amazon is great for accessoiries, but not for dolls. about 95% of dolls on there are recasts (= unlicensed copies), including Eva BJD. So please be very careful what you buy there. >

Myla Solorio agreed. resin is actually very expensive and the molds can only be used about five times before they have to get another one, so it makes sense that they’d be well over a hundred dollars. but this cheaper one isn’t resin i don’t think, i believe it’s plastic. ( there are lots of plastic bjds out there and this looks like one I saw, but I could be wrong ) so it does seem like the went up in price, because I don’t think it’s actually worth more than the large barbies. :/

It depends on the company, mirodoll and resinsoul have dolls that size and cheaper than fairyland. Fairyland, and Volks are like the Mercedes/BMW of the bjd hobby

Well, the Amazon doll is more pocket friendly, plus you get extra things. The smart doll by far is my favorite, I just wish they would give you more for the price. Like an outfit.

we all know that overall the smart doll wins its just better quality in general but the Ucanaan is pretty okay for people who don't want to spend to much money on a doll, I would probably use them as a base for a custom doll :)

Don't forget that extra set of clothes and shoes came with the Ucanaan doll. She also came with very nicely made clothes. You could add freckles or mole or scars. But yes, too bad they don't come in a few more colors. But BOTH are great dolls.

it's been so long since I've watched videos from this channel, I don't even play with dolls anymore but there's something oddly relaxing and gratifying about it...

I have always played with dolls and I make clothes for them but my mom is not very supportive at all. BTW Am a grown 41 year old woman now so she doesn't complain as much.

I like both. I have BJDs, an Obitsu, a Ucanaan, an Eva BJD, a Diary Queen, and a couple of Ucanaan knock offs. The Eva BJD and Ucanaan doll are great traveling companions. I like that the Eva BJD's head can come apart to change the eyes, but I don't love the amount of glue holding the eyes in place. Body wise, I like the Diary Queen for BJD-like dolls. I think their 60cm counter part is called Dream Fairy. Ucanaan has a few different lines of dolls, including Doris Doll and Kilig Doll, but all of them have been rebranded lately, and I can't for the life of me remember the new names. The one I have is a budget friendly 45cm play doll from the KD line. It has rooted hair, but it's only $20 - $30.

I would love for you to buy clothing (60cm clothes) from various website and do a smart doll fashion show! ❤️❤️

Uncanaan seems like they'd be great for young collectors.

My BJD journey actually began with the Popovy Sisters. (Thank you You Tube algorithm…clearly designed to separate me from my wallet and time.) 😅🙄😒 …wasn’t excited to wire money to Russia to some guy name Igor for a doll that could take a year to receive. Anyway, I digress. If I’m ever able to get a Popovy, I think it’d have to go into a glass box with its own security detail. What I like about the Smart Dolls (though in a different league) is that they don’t need to be carefully handled with gloves and yet the quality and craftsmanship is still there from the clothes, shoes, and body. You can enjoy them, travel with them, etc.

I really enjoyed the Ucanaan. She had so much stuff to unbox & I just really like the aesthetic of her face.

$500 vs $110, cheap wins here for me. I got the $110 doll and she’s great 👍🏾. But definitely looking for cheaper options of color 💯 I understand the product can be more expensive to produce. I do love the Smart Dolls but the expense is significant and the clothes are very expensive.😻

I like that the doll that you showed in this video is not expensive but my favorite would definitely be smart dolls and did you notice the other dolls hand is kind of a reddish color and I don't really like blush and hands so my favorite would definitely be the smart doll but from now on you can get the accessories from the other doll

DorisDoll is available on AliBaba in wholesale quantities. sometimes, if you buy enough pieces, the manufacturer will make a box with your own branding. so if you have a couple thousand $ on hand and a good sales outlet, you can go into the doll business.

just to let you know, the shoes u received with the Amazon Ucanann doll WILL stain smart doll feet. This happened to my wife's Independence smart doll, even with stain prevention socks on. Other than that, the Ucanann dolls are alright. The wife prefers smart doll also. :)

as a person who spent $320 [that was just for a blank doll, and I got a free head besides the one he came with] on a resin BJD, I like the fact you can get a PVC BJD for under $100+ dollars, and there are a plethora of brands to choose from. I just wish there were more boy doll options.

I always worry that cheaper dolls on places like Amazon and other online superstores will be recasts, I'm pretty knowledgeable about different BJD sculpts but I obviously don't know all of them and I don't want to accidentally buy a recast so I usually stick to buying from companies direct or secondhand with proofs. Are there any good ways to tell if these cheaper dolls are original or not?

Unfortunately many of them are counterfeits of different companies combined into one doll. Dream Fairy recasted Volks Dollfie Dream hands and Angell-Studio hands. The heads are often either direct copies or slightly modified. The head in this video hasn't been identified as one. A common head to see is Angell-Studio LiuRushi with slightly wider eyes.

The cheap dolls definitely are recasts unless it's from a real company or authorized dealer. Some companies like resinsoul or bobobie are cheaper, and completely legit. As for recognizing the recasts from the real dolls, each company have different telltale signs. If you want more detailed guidance, find denofangels. It's the biggest bjd forum I have ever seen and it's full of experts on different bjd topics. Good luck, dear!

I got one from them and had to send it back because the eyelashes were mangled and the clothing was ripped at some parts. It was really disappointing actually. I got myself another one, this time one of these casual outfit ones and I hope that this time her eyelashes will be fine.

I think this would be a great "starter doll" for a child who maybe is not quite ready for a doll that costs almost $500. Some children don't have the manual dexterity to care for a Smart Doll. So this would be a great choice until the child is old enough/has enough money to get a Smart Doll. I love your videos, they are always so informative but also incredibly fun!

Ucanaan would be a good option for customizing, but I think you get what you pay for. Thank you for the helpful comparison.

I had an 1/6 scale EVA bjd and I was very unimpressed. It felt like cheap plastic and wasn't worth the price it was sold at. A made to move barbie was better

Smart Doll does win out if we're talking just quality, but I do really like both, especially the value on this one plus that great range of movement. I don't really mind the joint colors, I guess, since I figure the doll clothing would typically not show that.

I'am totally on smart dolls side, but if we talking about the outfit and accessories, then Ucanaan dolls got my vote. I mean, she come fully dress, she came with some extra stuff, and you got it with her, you don't have to buy the extra stuff, and she is a lot cheaper then smart dolls. I just love smart dolls because they have a lot of characters on their face, and bacause they look like teen, and i think Felice or Phyllis, is just a tiny bit creepy, but i think she kinda adorebles, creepy but adorebles, am i so weird?

I actually got a Ucanaan doll myself! I bought her for the purpose of customizing, shes 1/6th scale, 12 inch doll. Mine was Jing Ning, in the stripped coat. Though I only paid $50 for mine, not $100. It came with all similar things to yours. Though some things I find interesting is unlike smart dolls, there’s no opening in the head cap to allow for the switching of the eyes, I had to cut into it myself. I didn’t have any hair coming out of my wig but it’s a bit unruly, and while it’s soft the very tips do feel slightly brittle, making her hair a little difficult to manage. Though for a bjd like doll to customize I really do love her, clothes are nice and pretty high quality for the price and the face paint on the dolls, while a bit flat and generic, they’re nice for what it is and luckily easy enough to remove so I can give her a faceup. Love your videos though! And you’re so lucky to have so many beautiful smart dolls 💕💕

I never heard Kiling being refer to as Ucanaan before. Maybe they only operate under this name on Amazon. I think everywhere else they are known as Kiling/Kiling Doll. I already looked on many places but no one know for sure if Kilig is a recast or not. For now I assume they are their own thing like the Night Lolita/Ye luoli Dolls. Also for the record Kilig has 2 styles of face up. Type 1 is the style featured in this VDO & only on old stock dolls. Type 2 are on newer dolls & look much nicer than type 1. On Aliexpress you can find the newer dolls.😉

Meanwhile, I'm over here buying a $120 doll for my toddler for her 4th bday ... Probably gonna cry if she ruins it but man, the happiness I'll be able to witness until then will be priceless ❤️

I like these dolls price-wise, the quality is not terrible but it is less quality than a doll you would pay 300+ for (which totally makes sense). If you do like the clothes, you can find just outfit sets for about $35 on amazon! I think they are pretty well made for the price, so it's a nice alternative to more expensive bjd clothing.

I really like both styles, just wish the Felice doll had a bigger budget for a better quality doll. BOTH of her shoes are extremely cool! That company definitely has potential.

I worry about buying any kind of bjd off of amazon because you could potentially get a re-cast. which is taking an artist's hard work and selling it at a lower price, personally I don't think I've seen anything similar to what you found, but it's still always best to be cautious

Not really. I have one and the description said MJD. (Mechanical Jointed) I dont like it when people discredit Amazon products.

I have a similar doll to the Ucanaan. Face is the same, but she has curled pink-blond hair and a pink outfit. She is very nice for what she is. I currently have her in a different outfit than she came in, with a white-blond wig.

Ucanaan is becoming the step child, aww. She is pretty too but I like consistent color throughout and the smart vibe older but youthful look on the smart doll is for me. However, Ucanaan does have some amazing extra stuff. Well sisters will need to share

The amazon doll seems off to me also if you are looking for a good quality doll with better articulation I would suggest obitsu mainly the 1/4 and 1/3 ones

I got a bjd with a very similar range of motion as the ucaannan doll for my birthday. The name of her was Loong and she was absolutely gorgeous, like a princess out of a fairytale. She is on Ebay for around the same price as Felice, and I highly recommend her for a versus video.

What clothes do you recommend for the ucannan doll/ other doll different from smart doll

I have an Eva BJD that looks exactly like Felice. I am a bit confused by the manufacturers, as I see several similar dolls under different company names on Amazon. In either case, Smart Dolls win hands down. They are definitely worth it.

Unfortunately the reason Kiling Doll/EVA BJD/Dream Fairy/Fortune Days can be so beautiful and so cheap is that they illegally cast and slightly modify legitimate Ball jointed dolls. I don't say this to make anyone feel bad but the artists who create Smartdoll and ball-jointed-dolls are small operations, typically no more than 5 people. It is vital to not knowingly or deliberately purchase recasts or counterfeits. Dream Fairy for instance directly casted the hands from Volks Dollfie Dreams as well as hands from Angell-Studio. Two heads that have been counterfeited on this type of doll are Angell-Studio LiuRushi and Fairyland Minifee Woosoo. I have even seen an entire Fairyland Littlefee doll recasted and modified to have hinge joints. Please, if you are at all interested in the doll hobby, stay away from Dream Fairy/Fortune Days/Eva BJD/Kiling Doll. Save up your money to buy a doll that supports the artists and creators.

Hi does anyone know if the doris doll head as seen in the video is a recast sculpt?

The dolls are probably called ucannan as like maybe the type of doll or model and the other name might be the brand

Be careful and by real BJD dolls, the BJD community can be mean (to put it nicely) about fakes or copies.

The bjd community doesn't accept recast bjds for very valid reasons. Their designs are stolen, the conditions for the workers are more dangerous and less paying than the real companies and the quality is worse. So if you aren't endorsing theft, respect hard working artists, ethical work conditions and good quality, you go legit. Then some of us might be a little heated, but we are a passionate group of people.

@@bloodywaltzer that's why I said some people can be mean, when you're coming into that community people kind of make the same mistake and thinking that they can just buy any doll and it'd be a reputable person. But the last person I watched they were asked to review a doll and they were told it was a recast and in their mind it didn't seem like a wrong thing because the person that wanted them to review it lied about what it meant. So when the person did the review she got a lot of really nasty comments on her KZread and Instagram. Unfortunately those comments got to her and she no longer wanted to be a part of the community. Just like any community there are bad people but I want to be in good faith and warned her about the possibility of buying a fake one.

@@bloodywaltzer i get that the people in the community is "passionate" but being "passionate" is Not a Free Card to be obnoxious and outright rude to somebody that may not have known. that is something i do Not agree with. just go after somebody who didn't have all the information or that didn't Know they needed to be wary... the person you attack will either shut down and Never buy Anything like that again. (which means the artists you're "passionate" about get screwed out of any future sales that way TOO) Or they will decide to get ornery Back and yeah, that worked out well for the people too didn't it. passion should not equal loosing your sense of common decency. that Is what you're trying to promote in the first place... Isn't it? then show it through your Own actions.

​@@lynne99 i'm can guess what youtuber you're talking about. i'm pretty sure i even know the video you mean. and i totally agree with you. people were Way Out of Line with how that was handled. i get that people can get uptight about these things... and i'm Not saying they're wrong to care... but there's a difference between trying to Inform somebody of a problem and being a complete rabid jerk about something. there's an old saying of how you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. well, frankly, if one used the approach Those people did with the horse, there's also a Real Big chance of them getting themselves Trampled by a ticked off horse to boot. ~editted because i Do try to spell correctly even if i Don't use caps on the regular. ^^;~

@@kstormgeistgem461 I'm not defending the hateful comments or rude bjd owners. But I do defend the mindset that stealing another person's art is detestable. Recreating a person's art in a way that hurt thousands of workers for minimal pay and in dangerous conditions as well. It's not just an innocent little doll we're talking about here, that price tag has a valid reason. I've been in the bjd hobby since I was 14 and I never accidentally bought a recast despite my young age. Why? Because I informed myself about the dangers of my hobby. It takes ten minutes to educate yourself and you can't claim that the hobby doesn't warn you beforehand. Every Instagram/deviantart/twitter bjd account I've seen say "anti recast" or "pro artist", so it's not that hard to google. You don't go bungee jumping without reading the warning text, do you? My actions as you say, are spawning from a moral viewpoint that has decent values. You don't steal, you don't hurt other people's health and you don't stay ignorant because something is cheaper. Besides every hobby and fandom has its rude people and that shouldn't reflect on the entire bunch of us. My conscience is clear and I'm not accepting getting chided for their crap.

EVA BJD has 1/6 to 1/3 bjds. I got the 1/6 scale one and she fits most Barbie clothes, shoes, and Barbie Color Reveal wigs.

EvaBJD is a confirmed recast seller of vinyl copies of Angel Studio and other bjds along with knockoff fashion dolls. They’re either a recaster or a storefront that’s selling recasts they got elsewhere. We should assume that buying from them, even if the doll looks like an original, will fund recasters indirectly.
