"It's like there's a spine in there." Actually there is a spine in there. If you remove the bust piece then there's a spine and a little card that says who made her. That's what makes smart dolls unique. I personally don't have one but other youtuber's I've seen have done that and seen the spine and little card.

Resin bjds are also very heavy and a ton more maintenance. They can break so easily as well. Even the yosd's can be on the heavier side.

Melody is my fave smart doll and... I'm only 13 but I'm saving up to get Melody and a couple of other things for the doll and almost every time I watch a video about these dolls I get excited and sad... But it makes me happy knowing I might get one soon!! Thanks if you read this whole thing! And you NEED to make more vids on ur smart dolls!!

I'm outside of the usual viewer demographic, and even as an adult, I can't really justify getting such an expensive (but super cool and lovely) designer doll like this. I'll never get the chance to play with them or see them in real life, so seeing you review them is really a treat. I hope you can use them at least once in a Darbie episode, just to showcase them!

These are some of the most beautiful and most realistic dolls I've ever seen and I love how articulated they are. You basically got what you paid for which is fantastic. Also they're eyes are so beautiful, it's almost like you can see the whole entire universe in them. Excellent review Mrs.Froggy. I just wanna point out that Symphony looks a little bit like Hermonie and Unity looks a little bit like Little Froggy. 😂😂😂😂😂

If someone is interested in anime looking dolls like smart doll or dollfie dream, but in a bit more affordable price (or smaller size) they should definitely look up Azone and Obitsu/parabox dolls. :) There are also resin bjd's in similar style: SQlab and 2D doll.

True, but do they vary in skin tone? I’m new to the hobby, and my biggest challenge is finding a bjd with a skin tone darker than light tan... 😢 I’ve seen that many people dye their resin bjd to get those results, but it’s so risky and they are a few hundred dollars already, so I wouldn’t want to damage them.

@@jessicasledge1743 If you want an "anime style" doll, than I would definitely go for Smart Doll, because there is nothing else to choose from at this moment. Normal bjd companies usually have very dark resin tones relesed during events. As far as I know Island Doll, Impldoll, Dollshe Craft, Luts, DollsTown, MYOU Doll, Dream Valley, ResinSoul have dark tan for regular sale, but you usually have to pay some extra for this option. I'm sure there are more companies which offer dark resin, but I can't remember anything else right now. :)

I somehow skipped right from Barbie and Monster High right to Fairyland MSD lol. 😅 I don't know how super young people without jobs can afford these dolls...I had to wait till I was in my 30's to comfortably afford the hobby the way I wanted to. I don't like spending outside of my limitations; it causes too much stress.

Originally there was plans to put electronics inside it and make it compatible with Android in some way, but I think it would have been to expensive for such a big doll. I think there's talk of trying to do it with a smaller one

Danny Choo is planning on making a less expensive version of smart dolls. The are called smart doll cortex. They look and feel the same as a normal smart doll the only difference is that they are not made of soft vinyl but a sturdier material using injection molding and are less prone to staining.

I saw a vid where he seemed to say that they'd be very slightly taller than Barbie (at least that's what I understood from it), so maybe more like 12" rather than 10".

Hi Froggy! First off, I’ve been a HUGE fan and subscriber for several years now. I love all the work y’all are doing!! OMG congrats on getting not one but 2 smart dolls! I’m so glad to see that you picked up Unity! She and Justice are my favorites! I had the honor of meeting Danny Choo at the AnimeNYC convention this passed weekend. He’s a great guy who believes in diversity and high quality in his products. He’s one of the pioneers in the ball jointed doll scene for designing brown skinned dolls, and as far as I know, he’s the only one making black anime style dolls right now, which is such a big deal to me!! I know the price is up there, but I’ve been saving up for mine for a few months now, and I’ll be getting my first one around Christmas! I want to use mine to get better at sewing. I figure if I can design something at 1/3 scale successfully, I can get a better idea of how to sew clothes for myself 🤣I can’t wait to see what clothing you make for your dolls! Oh, now you've gone down the 1/3 doll rabbit hole! You think those are expensive,...don't start looking at the resin 1/3 ball jointed dolls then! LOL! Yes, the clothing is amazingly detailed but I think you did an amazing job with your custom clothing that you sewed! You can just stick to buying different wigs to change up their looks!

There's actually resin 1\3 scale dolls out there for $300 and below, which is less costly than a smart doll, they're higher quality too.

@@ConsciousBread Theres a good chance those dolls are recasts. If theyre from sites like ebay or something theyre not from the doll artist, which is why theyre so cheap

@@Minttearabbit I've been collecting resin dolls for 5 years, strictly legit. No, they're not recasts, they're legits. Look on Alice's collections, a LEGIT dealer of Ball Jointed Dolls.
