Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My discus lunch glider transmitter setup. Versus DLG, Turnigy 9x, openTX, Smartieparts board, LCD backlight. Momentary switch swapped from top right to top left of the Tx.

    I'm also new to DLG and have a Spektrum DX6 transmitter, this video helped understand the modes and the various settings I need to consider for each mode. Thanks.

    I've had a chance to try out the aileron and rudder mix combo. With both control surfaces moving the same way the plane turns sharper but the nose does tend to dip. You can compensate with up elevator. I'll try it the other way and post my thoughts. I did start using the rudder for turns in windy conditions and had a lot of luck making sharp, snappy flat turns (with oppose aileron to compensate). It proved an effective means of turning the plane in rough conditions.

    @@AndrewNewton thank you for the reply. After updating the firmware can you mix any switch to do whatever you want? How about a variometer with a frsky module on it? Can I also swap the two position switches to 3 positions? Thanks

    Better to buy a Taranis Q X7, but you can do any mixing and switch assigning you want with OpenTX. Dont know about vario telemetry with the FrSKY module, may be possible..

    Thanks for the video. I set up my Polaris almost exactly the same. One thought, when you have rudder mixed with ailerons, shouldn't the rudder move in the opposite direction than the turning aileron? Opposite rudder in a turn helps keep the nose up in the turn and makes for a smoother, flatter turn. I think your set up will exacerbate the nose dipping in an aileron turn. Going to test my theory and report back. Thanks Again.

    Interesting, I have never thought of using opposite rudder. Wouldn't it add drag? Let us know how it goes.

  • @jstjern1

    @jstjern1

    Traditionally, ailerons move an equal amount up and down. The up-aileron on the inside of the turn causes much less drag than the down-aileron on the outside. Then the nose does not move into the turn, but stays up, and the plane moves into what is called "side-slip". In side slip the fuselage moves somewhat sideways through the air, inducing additional drag. I use it for landings sometimes (i.e. aileron stick righ, rudder left, keeping wings level). Anyway, to compensate for this adverse-yaw, rudder is used to force the nose to lead the flight path, minimizing drag (but only as long as ailerons are deflected). Elevation/nose-up is done using the elevator, not the rudder (unless you do a knife-edge in 3D flight).

  • @jstjern1

    @jstjern1

    Now, there's another way to avoid using much rudder, called aileron differential. Two paths: if you mount the aileron servos with the horns angled forward on both wings when the servo is centered, you create mechanical differential: the aileron moving up will move more up than the one moving down. How much differential you need is a trial-and-error thing, but assume about 50% (half down vs full up). This can be a problem on a DLG, where you want flaperons to deflect far down on landing, so most people install servos with the arms perpendicular to the wing, and dial in differential in the radio. The differential can then be suppressed as needed, i.e. when flaperons are deployed.

    I use TX programmed differential on my DLG, and cancel it on landing.
