Pastor Gary quotes II Timothy 1:9 "who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but ACCORDING TO HIS OWN PURPOSE AND GRACE, which was granted to us in Christ Jesus FROM ALL ETERNITY. I am convinced that nothing exposes the pride and will of man more than the tenants of Election in Scripture. Pastor Gary is a wonderful teacher.... but the way he danced around election at the 48 minute mark of this video is typical of men who are unwilling to submit fully to the will of God. Jesus taught us to pray His Will Be Done.....not so that God could have permission to do His will or needs our prayers to accomplish it, but so that we may acknowledge that our will has been laid down and have come into complete agreement with His. Regardless of whether it was "before creation” or" before the beginning of time” as we know it (he uses these terms interchangeably to somehow soften the message and fit his narrative) God still chose before either of those things happened....no matter how you want to label it. That being said....it is not my mission in life to cram election down anyones throat....I just find it interesting how far men will go to avoid the elephant in the room when it makes us feel uncomfortable. Election is all over the pages of scripture starting with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, John the Baptist, the 12 disciples.......all hand picked and elected by God...... and the list goes on and on. We’re ok when it’s the folks in scripture, but we basically dare God to apply it to us today. Acts 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, AS MANY AS THE LORD OUR GOD WILL CALL.” Acts 13:48 “Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. AND AS MANY AS HAD BEEN APPOINTED TO ETERNAL LIFE BELIEVED.” Proverbs-16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, EVEN THE WICKED FOR THE DAY OF EVIL. Ephesians 1:11 “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, BEING PREDESTINED ACCORDING TO THE PURPOSE OF HIM WHO WORKS ALL THINGS ACCORDING TO THE COUNSEL OF HIS WILL.” Ephesians 1:4-5 JUST AS HE CHOSE US IN HIM BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of HIS WILL.”
