Cool video, stumbled on it randomly. Kind of annoyed that the amount we pay for phone service and can't even get great speeds for what i need it for

Well I’m glad the algorithm fed it to you and I hope you enjoyed it and my other content! Yeah I been moving all my stuff to prepaid and trying to pay off my phones on postpaid lines. Prepaid might not give me the best performance but if my data loads and I can send calls and texts I’m good. Visible is what I’m going to move to honestly as my main carrier I think. Cause I can’t afford these postpaid single line and pay almost $100/mo for service and the phone.

From your testing, is Spectrum still on QCI 8 or did it switch to 9?

If I knew how to check I would let you know. But I did have a Verizon postpaid line a while ago on Unlimited Plus. And it got very similar speeds to it. You know before you use your 30GB and get slowed down. So I would assume if it was on 8 it probably still is. But I can’t say for sure cause a lot of times I have issues doing something so simple as streaming music on my Spectrum line. Which I don’t have that issue with my Visible+ line. So again I can’t say for sure.

Interesting. You guys have 5G in US, but the throttled Visible plan is even worse that Ukrainian 3G (we still have 2g\3g) on Lifecell and Kyivstar. My maximum speed was 120\60 with 24 ms ping and 2 ms Jitter on Lifecell, using Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T on custom ROM (RR, Android 10). And that's LTE.

That’s not too bad honestly. And I’ve had a lot of people in my comments tell me countries over there still have 2G and 3G. I don’t see why it can’t stay on for coverage to at least make calls. But hopefully carriers invest in satellite

​@@SWOhioSpeedtestingi don't see any reason to use satellite, since satellite networks aren't really good with bad weather. I would like to see someone do a peer-to-peer network that wouldn't immediately flop at the launch (like Volk did)

​@@SWOhioSpeedtestingand to answer the network question: it's a money issue. It's cheaper to run just LTE and 5G than to run GSM/CDMA + HSPDA and LTE with 5G. Here, in Ukraine, it's better to run legacy networks, because there's a lot of legacy equipment, such as POS terminals, there's a large network of POS kiosks that use HSPDA+ modems to communicate with internet, and not everyone uses brand new phones. I worked at the electronics store and while I was working there - I saw people using 1998 GSM nokias as their main phone.

@@CyberFox2077 We had the same issue in the US. When they shut down 3G a lot of people was forced to get new IOT devices and there was still a lot of people that had to get new phones that were LTE or 5G capable. But the carriers did give out free devices for those customers I heard. And I’m sure somewhere there’s probably still a little bit of 3G or maybe even 2G live. Cause I’m sure some company or something has like a contract to keep it live until they get new hardware. And with the satellite I meant that they should beam traditional cell spectrum which I’ve heard some carriers are doing. I know they have band 53 for satellite on new phones. But I think the carriers should try to use satellites BUT beam traditional cell frequencies like AWS or PCS. Even low band like 700 or 800 MHz. Cause at least then it could possibly reach better than satellite and penetrate walls and roofs. But you know I don’t run and own a telecommunication company. I’m just saying in a prefect world and when the technology catches up that’s what they should do.

​@@SWOhioSpeedtestingthat's an interesting point (on satellite). I've used satellite phone once, when I was hiking, getting a signal in crowded forest was almost impossible. And when I got to the point where I could reach a satellite - I got a cell phone reception as well XD I believe that local roaming is the way to go, if you wanna cover more lines. Let people switch networks and that would be great for everyone. But, as far as I know - US networks are using different standards, so this seems impossible.

Also why does Verizon have servers in Singapore

They do? I did not know that. Maybe it’s a partnership with some carrier in Singapore.

Up here in the pro hof area we finally got 140mhz cband on air but the issue is not enough towers and too many customers on those towers but speeds are better near the sites

That’s good you got more spectrum up there. But yeah it definitely sounds like they need to focus on densifying for sure. I mean as long as you’re able to load things that what’s important.
