My husband is retired career green beret and personally knows so many powerful men who’ve retired from special forces ranks and who’ve done so much more. They don’t expect nor seek recognition and would say “give it to So and So, he has earned it more than I”. It’s always about sacrifice. Harry sacrificed NOTHING for Invictus Games. Nothing. He was given privilege and influence without earning it and he used it to start an ego trip he could identify with as a DoGooder. Pat gave everything. I didn’t know him but obviously I’m friends with people who did and it’s no wonder Pat’s mom is so disgusted by the whole thing. Too bad Pat’s wife didn’t have any of her husband’s courage to stand up and speak out. Her applause was the least she could’ve withheld.

@@daylehudson6810 well spotted. I have to agree, a more elegant or gracious vibe in a way, but I’m a hard core Federer fan so a bit biased with my expectations. There was some shade going on from a number of people sitting around them but the most impact was from V. She didn’t give an inch. No clapping, no standing ovation. Not even when the pair left early, V just stayed seated and ignored them. Her daughter gave MM the turned ‘recoiled’ shoulder. Surely it would have been no surprise to Serena what her sister thinks of MM. It makes me wonder about the seating arrangements! They aren’t random and clearly grouped with the Williams family. I enjoyed and admired her tennis game back in the day but I have way more respect for V seeing her unswayed by all that pairs shinanagins.

Had to cut out the 'word salad' surrounding those bits because shell shocked brain dead husband would not be able to understand the theme. As it was, it had to be put into short sentences and parts from other speeches in order to be able for him to spit it out with his usual aggressive venom.
