Vented Ballast Tank for a RC Submarine - principle.
A video explaining the principle of a vented ballast tank. This type of diving system has been used in my VIIB. It allows for all the typical RC submarine manoeuvrers like diving, submerging and "park on ground", even when the vent/snorkel has been flooded. More about the system and the model I've used it in at: www.RCshipyard.com

Brilliant! Im researching before i start my build and this is awesome! Thank you
I planned on designing my own ROV, thanks for the informative video!
Thanks for the perfect explaining. Take care.
Thanks for this clear explanation.
Creo que este es el mejor sistema de inmersión que he visto
Nicely done!
Thank you so much for this info ,,,, very helpful !
Very infomative thank you
hi, can i ask what pump you are using? im trying to make a trailer with lifting bed and that would be perfect!
Hi, where can i purchase the pump used in the video? thanks
@RC Shipyard can I use 2 one way motor pumps?
what do you use to seal the brass tube thru the tank cap is it a rubber O ring seal or what do I have to purchase for sealing the tube mine always leak
Les trous des tuyaux à l’intérieur du ballast font aussi 1mm ou 4mm ?
What did you use to adjust the solenoid threshold??,
Just good!!!
Im gonna try this on the Krick
Where to buy the pump and accessories? What is the brand or model name of the parts?
Could you tell me the name of the water pump you used please
What receiver should I use to have it activated by two buttons on my controller
Que tipo de bomba habrá usado
What pump is that that you're using?
So informative video . If possible could you please share the STL files of the covers? Which filament did you use by the way and in which settings?

It's made from PETG, all the files are the RCshipyard.com website.
This dynamic or static
They need pc control with timer to control the boat when submerged .
Good morning, I have a U-47 Robbe and I would like to transform it, can you give me all the links to what you show so I can send it. Thank you
Hello, interesting video 👍. Which Arduino are you using in the video?
can we achieve the same result by using a peristaltic pump instead of the gear pump? or do you necessarily need a good flow of water during the surfacing?
@RCShipyard

No, you really need an efficient pump with how flow. If you want to use the peristaltic one - go with the bladder system.
I don't understand why you use a solenoid to suck air in the tank.
please can you share arduino code and circuit diagram? thank you
Just a quick question, will this also work with the tank completely filled with water? So no more air pocket in the tank?
@RCShipyard

Yes, the air pocket was caught only because I missed it, you can flood the tank completely and it still works perfectly.
What does the design of the pump look like inside. I want to try an 3D print one.
@RCShipyard

It's a closed unit, not possible to peek inside, but it's a simple gear pump - so two gears sucking in water.

@@RCShipyard thanks. I just wanted to know what type of pump it was, I what to try and 3d print it.
Very informative regards the snorkel effects with big and small orifices. Will do that to my Dumas Akula! Btw, can you 3D print the stern panes modification so I can purchase them? Planning to build the Krick VII as well!
@RCShipyard

The STL files for the stern are available for free to download at www.RCshipyard.com. If you need a ready to go printed version send me an @ via the contact form on the website. Good luck with the Krick!

@@RCShipyard Hi, I see you have started new project for the 1/144 PLAN Type 092 model. Are you planning for new WTC, or using your Seawolf WTC? I'm keen to purchase this kit tho...😉

Hi, can you share where you get that rolling pump? Or do you sell them?
@RCShipyard

@@MLOO123 @MLOO123 The pump is a gear pump, not a rolling pump. It's a 12V Graupner pump and can be obtained on various online shops. I don't plan to be selling those. The Plan 092, will have a longer WTC than the seawolf.

Thanks for reply and information on the pump and 092. Are you using 2S battery for the 12V pump? I do have a larger graupner 6V gear pump in white casing, but don't seems have good flow than yours after trying out your demo...
Where can I buy the solenoid?

Aliexpress.
What type of pump you use it?

The one from the krick type 96 dive kit
Innovative invention but I see a failure: archimede thrust exist as soon as enough air remains in the tube. On the test you can see the level of water in the tube but not when the submarine is submerged. If you activate the pump too long, then filling the tube with water you cannot resurface. This because the debit of water in the whole system would be the debit throug the 1mm diameter area. So without a foam security valve into the tube it is not safe ?

It's actually not innovative, this is a classic solution for a ballast tank system in a RC submarine, just with some modern electronic elements instead of mechanical. I suspect you may not have watched the video till the end or not carefully enough, as the matter you mention has been precisely addressed and explained in the video. The key to resolving your doubt is the difference in density of water and air, together with different diameters of the water inlet and snorkel tubes. This exact system has been used in one of my models during season 2021 and allows for resurfacing from around 2 meter (6 feet) of depth. For bigger depths, a stronger pump is required.

@@RCShipyard here´s a comment from Germany, so you have to excuse my poor englisch. The "stronger pump" you use must be a gear pump, isn´t it? so, a gear pump doesn´t keep tight while standing, there´s always a little flow of water or air, so it´s nearly impossible to hold the boat hovering in middle depth. But there is a good solution on the site of "neitosub" - rc submarine project Type II u-boat - introducing his solution with a mechanical valve which simultaneously commands the pump-servo. this is very easy and without additional electronic stuff, especially für gear-pumps.
