Sequel to the successful "Venom", in which the eponymous symbiote and his host Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) have to deal with the serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who turns into the bloodthirsty Carnage after also coming into contact with an alien life form. Kasady already appeared in the credits scene of "Venom," where he was in jail, but warned that there would be slaughter after his escape. In the comics, Kasady infects himself with the Carnage symbiote during his outbreak. Moreover, the villain Frances Barrison alias Shriek (Naomie Harris) is also said to be involved. Thus, Venom will be facing two opponents at once...

I mourn for what this movie and character could have been in Chris & John Nolan’s hands. I understand kids are the target audience but to waste TOM HARDY and the limitless lethality potential of Venom on cheesy gags and horrific dialogue is stomach churning. This series will almost certainly end Tom’s interest in ever portraying another superhero/villain. Its too infantile for 12yos for gods sake 🙄

Maybe John Nolan but Chris Nolan does DC dark stuff, he does masterpieces, John Nolan would of been great, but I don't think Chris Nolan would ever touch marvel

Perhaps he's 'wasted' on the role, but the man himself certainly doesn't think so. Unless he is lying through his teeth....which I grant is a possibility whenever a franchise movie is involved....Tom Hardy placed a lot of his own dedication and self into the role. Not only is he reportedly intensely dedicated on set, much of the 3 Venom movies are based on his input. The first movie was based on a concept he came up with, and he has an actual story credit. This suggests it's not just publicity, as the academy and guilds have very strict conventions on writer credit. He remains executive producer on all the movies. In particular, the interaction between Eddie and Venom is based on his input. Now, him wasting his talent, and liking/wanting to do these movies aren't mutually exclusive. But I think if such a prolific actor chooses to put his best effort into these movies....it's rather hard to claim that the output is something that wastes his talent, when it's the result of it. In his defense, he also wanted to do it for his son who was 10 years old at the time. It's funny you specified a cut-off of 12 years old for how mature the movie is. Additionally, I wonder just how much of this criticism of his role as Venom is not to do with the quality of the material he has to work with, but rather the all-too-common need to typecast him and other famous actors into certain roles.
