Interesting. I dreamt that I went to work and nobody recognised me because I was dead and didn't know it. I don't usually remember my dreams and I'm disappointed that the dream was the plot of a low budget sci-fi TV show. The takeaway is if this meds are messing with dreams, I'm not going to be happy.

@@andreakusnik3130 that's right, but my only suggestion for you is to not play by the rules. If you need to get off it try something that I haven't done sine the 80's...smoke pot! Hahaha! Try it if you dare and don't get drug tested at your job. There is also CBD alternatives at your local store, but again, if you live in a state where it is illegal, you will have to weigh the risk. Don't want to get you into trouble but at the very least, if the pharmacies go bust or you some how loose the ability to purchase Effexoor / Velafaxine, you might want to keep that as an option.

It might be good to alert people to post ssri/snri sexual dysfunction (PSSD). This condition is not rare and can occur with as little as a few days use of an antidepressant. The symptoms include numb genitals, erectile dysfunction, inability to orgasm and loss of libido. Non-sexual symptoms include loss of ability to feel emotion of any kind - complete numbness. These symptoms continue indefinitely after the medication has been stopped and there is no cure. Patients should have this information to enable them to make an informed decision about whether to take an antidepressant or to opt for non-drug options.

I took one at 10am and by Noon my Vertigo was 80% gone. I thought cool.. 2am the next morning I woke up with a blinding headache, and I don't get headaches. But I did read on Web MD you might want to watch your Blood Pressure if you take this. So I decided to take my Blood pressure. 196/121. Yeah off to the Emergency room I went. I have been on this drug for pretty much 15 years with occasional switches to other antidepressants but I'm back on venlafaxine within 6 mths. The side effects I can put up with as it's better than the alternative. Withdrawals are absolutely horrendous! Which I keep being forced to go through due to my pharmacist forgetting to order or having no stock. So I will have to suddenly stop taking it and then withdrawal until my medication is available, I have waited 8 days before, and then I have to restart taking it again. I wouldn't mind so much if it was nkw and then but this has happened to me repeatedly since last summer and it's affecting not only my mental health but also my physical health. I just wanted to add that from my own experience I found the side effects were much worse if I took them on an empty stomach. I also stick to set times also otherwise my emotions cycle rapidly (I have MDD, BPD, OCD and GAD to name the front running disorders 😂).

I feel very nauseous, my head spins, I have a bad headache, and I get very emotional. Not my idea of a party.. For any fellow IT people out there, something funny: Even though I felt completely miserable, I had house chores that needed to be done. I put on Network Chuck and listened to his Python tutorials while cleaning. I would say I made it at most, 1 hour; I turned it off before my head exploded. 10 out of 10 would not recommend learning programming while recovering from a missed dose 😂

If I accidentally forget to take it only once the next day Im in mental anguish mode. A tremendous flood of emotions start washing through me. Like a switch was turned on or off I don't know? However. no i am trying for the N time to come off it, even if is small dosage, i still have brain zips and muscular pains. If an anti depressant is working don't stop it before 12 months. It's proven taking it for 12 months instead of a shorter period reduce the risk of getting depression again by a huge factor. Paxil also need to be added to the list for very bad discontinuation syndrome symptoms. Serotonin syndrome usually happens when you take 2 or more anti depression drugs at the same time.

My doctor wants me to try this one out first because of depression, anxiety and panic and maybe ADD but I am so scared cause he said it was no problem to quit but the internet says otherwise?! I'm so scared I shoudl have started a week ago but I dont manage to take them since I am so scared. But my doctor wants me to try this one before I get to try something new. Man I am scared and don't know what to do.

Discuss your concerns with your provider. There are other alternatives out there for your symptoms, Strattera, for instance, may be a better alternative.

My doctor just prescribe this for me as I’m waiting to see psychologist for adhd.. I don’t think it’s good. I don’t think any pharmacy drugs are good for people. Stuck in a rock and a hard place

I've been on this medication for a good few years now for fibromyalgia and anxiety. Helps massively for anxiety, but I'm still in a lot of pain due to chronic pain. You need to weigh up the positives to the negatives.. If this drug will help your quality of life, then I would say at least try it on a low dose first and then gradually increase if needed. The side effects I now have are: dreaming (like 10 dreams a nighy) Loss of libido Night sweats (not every night, but most nights) This medication has helped me tremendously for anxiety issues.

I'm taking Venlafaxine for over 10 years now. Will it be difficult to come off after that long time? I tried 2 times already but the withdrawals were so so bad so I always ended up taking it again. You also mentioned it's normally taken for 6months to 1 year. Is it normal that I have been on it for 10 years?

I am not a physician but I would highly suggest a very very very slow taper. Talking to your psychiatrist about it would be of the utmost benefit for yourself before you make any changes.

I had to join a Facebook support group because my doctor tried to take me off it too quickly, I had to break open the capsules and weigh them and reduce 10% a month, and the withdrawals were manageable

I've taken it for over 10 years... Withdrawal is minimal if you go very slow getting off of it. People tend to think they can just quit ANY antidepressant (the only one that could be done this way is Prozac because of it's incredibly long half life). I've come off venlaflaxine one time. I will not lie I went very slow (over a year time period) but I had the time to do this so it was no issue. I just opened capsules and removed 1 bead for 3 days, 2 beads for 3 days, 3 beads for 3 days etc. She did amazing explaining this!!! But I disagree on only 6-12 months. My father has taken the immediate release version for 17 years now. It's all about a person's body chemistry!!!

@@alyssamiller9329 thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, the withdrawal does highly depend on a person's biology and many other factors. But it can be done safely no matter how long you have been on it, as long as you do it right, listen to your body. I have just noticed that it is easier if the person hasn't been on it long-term.
