Guys, it is almost too much! The beauty of Venice is nothing compared to the beauty and joy of sharing it with your friend. That is what I could not express about the Barcelona video. The sights are beautiful, of course they are. The history is fascinating... the joy you both have in sharing them with each other is what makes this so special! Here is hoping for many more!!

Stephanie and Ollie, while I'm an avid follower of both your KZread channels, I have to let you both know how much I am loving, "Travels With My Friend". Both episodes have been wonderful but this one was something very special. Your love of history and ability to educate while making me feel I was touring with friends is so special. I've shared my story with you both before but certainly don't expect you to remember. I became physically disabled out of the blue 10 years ago with a rare bone disease breaking multiple bones spontaneously throughout my body, and they don't heal. Getting out of the house now rarely happens, so being able to travel in this way is an amazing gift. I often say this is the era to be disabled in as the virtual world is life changing for people in my situation. I used to be an executive in the corporate world, I did a lot of travel at home throughout Australia but also have been to the UK and France. I was born in London but migrated to Aus at 3yrs of age. My heart always is drawn back to Europe and its rich history. Anyway, I really just wanted to say thank you, Take care, Sam ❤

I’m absolutely smitten with this new travel series of yours! Your long friendship is so inspiring and it’s a privilege to get to tag along with you both to your favorite places. I love that you are taking turns in leading each episode. Even though I have visited these places before, I’ve learned new things about their history from you and I now want to come back and discover them all over again. Thank you for your eye for the details in the beauty of the craftsmanship and artistry that you point out in each tour. Culture is so multilayered, so I appreciate that you feature the Royal Suite and its Murano glass chandeliers as well as the local patisserie and its donuts. I’m so looking forward to the next installment!

Romantic relationships are fun but often fleeting but a good solid friendship with shared history and interests is worth its weight in gold and is forever. Stephanie and Ollie have achieved this. Ollie’s calm and laidback style is in contrast with Stephanie’s sometimes over the top effervescent personality bordering on a bit of silliness (sorry!) but possibly it is exaggerated for the camera? That aside, I do love their shared enthusiasm for history, art, culture, research, food together with a sense of adventure, openness to new experiences and joie de vivre. Loved Ollie’s introduction in the beginning, the old old photos, including a hilarious one of Michael Potts looking quite theatrical in a wig! Entertaining, informative, uplifting. Beautiful music and visuals with very fine editing by ………???

Thank you, thank you, thank you Ollie and Steph for doing this wonderful video on my most favourite and romantic cities in Italy. It definitely brought a tear to my eye, a happy tear I hasten to add. In the early 1980's i went to Venice for the first time with my late parents. We stayed in a hotel over looking the Basilica in St Mark's Square. It was an amazing 3 days. I remember one of the highlights of that trip was seeing the Doge's Parade, which didn't actually realise was happening until that night. It was incredible. By late father had visited Venice when he was in the British Royal Navy. It was every thing he said it was and much, much more. I will go back and take my husband and daughter with me. X

Reflections dancing on the ceiling. The room is filled with light divine. The ripples on the water’s surface immerse the soul with golden shine. And as the gaze does pass the ceiling, an angel winks from high above. The Serenissima has lured you with her unrequited love: You are prisoner to her beauty. You are a slave of splashing waves. And you will drown among her bosom, trapped in an ancient golden cage. 😘

This brings back glorious memories, I visited Venice about 5 years ago with a friend and we just wandered the streets and discovered some many little gems. As I have mobility issues and have to rest quite often we also found many lovely little cafes and bars and also used the water bus to get around which is a great way to get an overview of the whole place before deciding which bits to look around. We completely avoided the typical tourist places apart from a trip to murano to watch the glass making and i honestly think that is the best aay to see Venice

I just love your vlogs - the art you show us is so beautiful: art that one never sees in modern times. Just the detail of every room, the ceilings, mirrors, doorways - every inch has been included in the whole. Ostensibly these rooms appear very busy, but as you so wisely remarked, if one takes ones time and only go to a couple of things a day, then even the seeming business becomes one seamless work of art, and exudes such peace. SO, no cramming. Thank you Oliver and Stephanie.

Thank you, Stephanie and Oliver, what a wonderful day out in Venezia and you graciously shared it with us!! Editing an hour-long vlog takes a lot of effort, and I am grateful. TBH, I am not attracted to masks and puppets. However, the interiors of The Bauer, the Frari, the Goldoni house, the interior of Cafe Florian, canal views, walks through the "calle" and "campi," and over the bridges of Venezia certainly piqued my interest. It was sad to learn The Bauer was being refurbished. Old things definitely appeal to me and I can just imagine what that will look like. Here is my thought: in the past light bulbs cast a warm yellow glow but have been replaced by the harsh, white light of CFLs and LEDs. This is a repeating theme as the old is replaced, in the name of efficiency, by the modern, and what I consider, the tasteless "new." Perhaps that's my age speaking... And on a sad note, the quotes on friendship really moved me!! My best friend succumbed to cancer over thirty years ago. However, over those ensuing years, I was fortunate to meet two new best friends, who are a gift in my life. One door closes and another opens. Chuck in Northern New England

I am sorry to hear about your friend but happy that you have found new friendship too. I agree with you on the lightbulbs- the new ones can be so dull and the light is far less appealing, I know it is for eco reasons which are important but I wonder if the light has to be quite so cold.

I was amused but sad for you in the Frari church. The Titian painting was a must see for me when I was there 11 years ago and....nope, it was covered with so many layers of scaffolding you could just see narrow strips of the painting. Everything else was visible. Just an incredible place. I'll try again. Maybe Lady Fortuna will smile on me.

That was an amazing adventure! I loved every minute of this video! The Mask shop 🎭, the one you bought Stephanie was exquisite. Ah when you walked into the bedroom and the sun was shining in, the chandeliers…everything! Imagine you now own the headboard and beautiful fabrics 🥰👌🏾🏵️And what a lovely Café! Lovely and entertaining with you two chitchatting and still educational in art and history. I’ve never been to Italy but now I want it even more. The filming and music was spot on! Congratulations Stephanie and Ollie for another wonderful video 🥰🙏🏾🎭🍹🏰⛲️🎠🏺🛍️🪭🎎

I needed this. I’m an American living in Italy and have family meeting us in Venice and DEAR GOD I am so overwhelmed I didn’t know where to begin. But the church is so close to where we are staying! And all the shops! Oh goodness me, I’m going to buy entirely too many lamp shades. If anyone had been and has recommendations (especially considering I’ll have three children under five!) I will take them!
