Venice: City of Dreams
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2012 | After sorting through the monuments of Venice's powerful past, we'll trace its decline from Europe's most powerful city to its most hedonistic one. We'll cruise the Grand Canal, luxuriate in a venerable café, and savor fresh fish canal-side with Venetian friends. Becoming as anonymous as possible in this city of masks, we'll be dazzled by masterpieces of the Venetian Renaissance and get intimate with the city of Casanova...on a gondola in the moonlight. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #venice

Venice and Florence are two master pieces of history and beauty.
I highly recommend visiting here! It was absolutely amazing! You will NEVER see anything like it anywhere else! An entire city surrounded by water instead of roads. Its also frozen in time, and you really feel like you traveled back in time to the renaissance period. A magical place it was!

See it before it sinks. Andiammo!
Wow! The place Rick is eating at 13:40 is Cantina Do Spade, I was there just this January with my boyfriend who is from the Venetian mainland. We randomly decided to pop in for some cicchetti and it was fabulous! So happy to see it featured here, since it is a good representation of local fare. I HIGHLY recommend baccalà mantecato (creamed cod - my favorite food in Italy to be honest), sarde in saor or zucca in saor (if it's available) - sardines or pumpkin in a sour sauce, and the calamari ripieni (stuffed squid)! Try some of the Raboso wine!

and the invisible spice of the joy in living that meant for us every waking moment with Italian exuberance.
These videos have been very helpful as of late. I mean, I never have the kind of money to go on European vacations in the first place, but in a time when the entire world has been more or less closed for maintenance, it’s nice to have all these videos available and feel like I’m still able to get out and about. Thanks Rick Steves.
I absolutely love Venice!!!! It is a BEAUTIFUL, enchanting, romantic and colorful city !!! Probably the most lovely cities in the world!!!!!!
Unforgettable ...I am in Venezia I I don't want to leave .........
I love all your videos, Europe is dream place on earth, plenty foods and rich cultures, especially European people’s Heart ❤️ makes the world a better place.
Venice is the queen of the Adriatic Sea and it really is. Thanks for your video.
Was fortunate enough to visit Venice 3 times this year and became engaged there.
I went on a tour a while ago and we went to venice for 2 days and it was amazing. The city is beautiful, especially at night during sunset. It's a must for those that go to Italy.
I've visited Venice a dozen times over the years. I never tire of this beautiful city!
Venice is Venice! No other city can be compared to this diamond of beauty.
In Venezia you understand at least what a little community can create for the magnificence of art and culture. Unique in the world
I'm watching this as I'm preparing to go to Venice next month! I love Rick Steves and growing up with his travel videos. Definitely an influence on my love for travel

Many thanks for Mr.Rick for these fabulous media products about famous places. I found it very useful for tourist purpose, entertaining watching and educating special for history. (not to mention his spirit)
A typical dish we use to eat here in Venice is “sborae de Dio” and it’s DELICIOUS
So. Much. Class.
Enjoyed the beauty and the grandeur of Venice.
I visited Venice and really didn't like it. I see now that it is because I didn't know anything about it. Having seen this Rick Steve's video, I have to go back and see what I missed the first time.

That was always my mistake. I visit places without knowing. So now I inform myself well before visiting the places, so as not to have any regrets
Monsieur Steves you’re the greatest History teacher I learned a lots I enjoyed listening to your lovely voice, god bless and peace excellent
Seeing Venice through Rick's eyes adds a touch a romance to this already romantic city. Whether it is the hustle and bustle extensive promenade or a serene view of canal waters, or the austere or the lavish Medieval churches, or for bar-hopping to satsify your hunger or to sample the delightful taste of Italian wine, Venice has it all. Venice is a must-visit destination for any one who enjoys the company of a loved one in a serene, picturesque waterfront and water-encompassing settings. Ciao!
Thank you Rick! It's been the best Venice video we've seen!
The city of dreams!
I love Alessandro and Pierrot.Salut😎😍
Wonderfull, and beautifully narrated.
Thank you Rick. I thoroughly enjoyed that trip with you.. explaining the history from food to boat trips. Whenever I see pictures of Venice, always wonder of their sewers managements.
Hello. Incredible video. Thanks!
It’s amazing 😢how some cultures artifacts are how wars and killings, and others are sculptures of people and animals, peaceful everyday life depicted.
OMG. what a charming beautiful city. It is like you are living in a dream. I feel like I am about to cry. I really want to visit it very badly.

Once again I am grateful to Stevens for the splendid result of his research work, for the warmth and "simpatico" style of his presentations. I have been a couple of times in Venice but I do regret not having had Stevens as the perfect guide. Watching this display I feel that now I have the real wonderful city with its art, the beauty of its buildings, and all the many small secrets of its charm that Rick displays with simple language and intelligent synthesis. Thank you Rick!

"Rick Steve" has introduced the importance of travel for humen. I believe that travel is religious for mankind being peace. He is the real king in the world who travel more & more. So, Love travel for a better & peaceful world.
Thank you, Rick Stevens, for this GLORIOUS tour. It outshines our actual experience, as there are crowds everywhere, so our 20person tour group was marched trhough St. Mark's in far less time than you were able to film it. (Thank you too for the highly skilled and artistic camera work) The greatest joy of being in Venice is that it is a walking delight. We were not at the Gritti Palace nor the Danieli, but in a small hotel on a square. The people were high sirited, the foods and WINES superlative. My first taste of Brunello was as a house wine! We took the ferry over to Murano to visit a glass factory, and bring home treasured souvenirs. Tjis trip with you is a far finer one,> I would like to recommend it to everyone with eyes to see as Art History 401!
Hi Rick Steve! Thank's!
Just got off the plane. RS guide of Italy in hand. 10 days of memory making coming my way! Thanks Rick (and company)!

We were there 3 weeks ago, in June 2021, only a handful of tourists, just a couple local italians, the st. marks square was completely empty. It was a great experience! Lovely city! It was very quiet and peaceful since nobody was there.

@@Mike-sp4iz every country citizen has their own sad stories and discontent. People just like to magnify the problems in US because it is so powerful. This was a nice video but so much complaining. The fact is america never created these types of luxurious buildings to begin with with being such a young country. There might be a few nicer art deco types in NY but thats it.
I loved Venice when I was there and I can't wait for my travels to take me back there one day.
Awesome video! Traveling to Venice in August and can not wait!
I AM ADDICTED TO THESE GREAT VIDEOS WHICH HAS MADE ME ADVENTURE OUTSIDE MY SAFE ZONE YOU MAKE ME WANT TO TRAVEL TO EVERY VIDEO I WATCH THANK YOU KEEP TRAVELIN
