The "Veni creator spiritus" is a 9th century Latin hymn attributed to the Benedictine monk St. Rabanus Maurus.
It is used as a hymn for the Vespers of Pentecost, as well as for the Octave of Pentecost, where it is still celebrated.
Since the 11th century at the latest, the Veni Creator Spiritus has also been sung at synods, ordinations and conclaves.
Come, Holy Ghost, Creator, come
from thy bright heav'nly throne;
come, take possession of our souls,
and make them all thine own.
Thou who art called the Paraclete,
best gift of God above,
the living spring, the living fire,

Veni Creator Spiritus was sung during my priestly ordination on 18 May 1988. It was sung during the laying of hands by the Bishop and priest. I listen to this hymn every other day tears flows from my eyes. The Holy Spirit strengthened me and made me serve as His priest for 33 years.

Este canto me hizo un milagro cuando pensé perder todo ya no podía más sufrir de alcoholismo en la preparatoria cuando en la iglesia el sacerdote cantaba iba yo.pasando 😭 lloro como nunca en aquella iglesia devolvió mis fuerzas y mis sueños y deje el alcoholismo

@@alphabeta8284 Nevertheless the Spirit calls everybody to unity. Despite their lack of sacraments I see they too are blessed in many mystical and practical ways. So I humbly suggest not to feel better than others though we have kept more of what they lost. See the ministry of Heidi Baker if you want an example. About songs liturgy & theology of course I agree with you but let the Holy Ghost manage everybody. With love in Christ. Marco

I listen to this particular chant a hundred times a day. It lifts up my soul to the eternal realities.

This hymn is sung for us as Carmelite nuns when we profess vows before we prostrate on the pall. So powerful. We die and rise a new creation in the Holy Spirit.
