Imagine if Dylan had JJ thru AA and counterfeits him on the deuce river, perhaps my previous comment about Garrett being perfectly emotionless would come into serious question. LOL Good stuff, I'm simply thankful that Garrett consistently puts himself (and his strategy) on full display in these live stream games, they're among the greatest learning tools ever, to get to watch how perhaps *THE* best cash game player in the world does it.

Hey FE, there was a spot in Brad Owen's recent 10/20/40 vlog that I thought would be really interesting for you to go over- the hand where he had aces and the flop came K77. Especially the river bet, where he gets his opponent to fold trips but might actually force worse two pairs to call because of their card removal to boats. The hand is about 13 mins in on his recent vlog. Love all your videos and appreciate how hard you work on them!

I wouldnt really fault Dylan too much for jamming the turn. The flop call to a raise is awful, but to be fair, with their history, Garrets flop-raising range could be all over the place. On the Turn, the T is a decent card for Garret to keep barreling, but his value range is somewhat narrow (22, 66, T9, 87, some Tx diamonds and maybe JJ) and he can easily have way too many bluffs (all 8x, all 7x, Flush draws, QJ) and potentially many pair+FDs that absolutely hate a shove. I would throw theory out of the window a little bit when theory said that Garret has to raise the flop 4% of the time. Surely Garret is raising much more than that, probably never raises sets as he thinks that Dylan 3bets and cbets too wide, has sizing tells (I bet he would raise smaller with a set if he did raise some) and might raise totally different bluffs and thin value combos than the solver. So to sum it up: The flop call is awful, but he can only make that call assuming that Garret is way out of line on the flop. If that is true and Garret continues aggressively on the turn, then the overall play is not losing as much anymore, in fact shoving those type of turns is the only way to justify calling the flop raise to begin with, unless you want to donk rivers.

  • @itskmillz

Nah the turn shove is atrocious, you are greatly overestimating his fold equity. Garret called a 3b then raised flop and barreled turn. He's almost always getting it in bad in this spot.

@@itskmillz Youre assuming that garrets flop raising range is very strong. Thats quite a stretch if you factor in that Garret must know that Dylan is probably c-betting way too much. And while Dylan will almost always be behind when called, he will at least have 20 % equity and always be live.

Can you read? Im talking about the turn shove from DYLANS flawed perspective. His flop call only makes sense if he assumes Garret is way out of line - and based on that assumption the turn shove in itself is still losing but not bloody awful, kind of like how you theoretically need to make really shitty calls on the river if you call the turn way too wide (vs. opponents who fire three barrels). That being said: Garret is a tough player, but he has shown time and time again that he can be really out of line with his bluffs. Live cash players generally dont keep their frequencies in check. Garret is one of the best ones for sure (someone like Matt Berkey has way more obvious frequency error), but he is still a live player, aggressive and plays too loose himself. Then he has a dynamic with Dylan, and being a good player he will know that Dylan is too wide everywhere - and will try to exploit that (although not necessarily in this spot, but as I said im trying to make sense of the shove from Dylans leveling war perspective)
