The song is real, Qantas has used it in its ads forever but Peter Allen wrote it. This is the newest rendition of the ad - my favourite is when it was just the kids choir. Qantas actually flew them all round the world to shoot that ad.

The song was written by Peter Allen in 1980 and slightly modified by QANTAS for this commercial.

And Hugh Jackman was "The Boy from Oz" in the Broadway musical of the same name in the early 21st century. It is the story of the legendary Peter Allen.

The pink coloured lakes are brought about by algae at certain times of the year. The ad was to commemorate Qantas returning to Flying to international destinations after covid, and it is the most beautiful ad I've seen in a long time. 👍🤗🥳

Qantas is an acronym of the airline's original name, Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services, as it originally served Queensland and the Northern Territory. It is popularly nicknamed "The Flying Kangaroo". It is considered the only airline in the world to fly to all seven continents, with it being the only airline operating regular sightseeing flights to Antarctica, along with flights to Africa, Europe, Asia, North America and South America.

No, it is a famous song that QANTAS have used and changed the Ad every year for about 14 years. This one was to celebrate flying again because all Australian planes were parked in the desert for 2 years during COVID. Not just QANTAS. The one sitting on the bed talking on the phone is Ash Barty our world number one women’s tennis player when this was made. She retired to play golf. The one standing in the cold on the edge of an ocean pool is Adam Goodes. He was an amazing AFL player and a gentleman. I think the two in the ocean are multiple Olympic gold medalists in swimming, the Campbell sisters. I know the closest one is but I can’t quite catch the other one. They are usually together. The children singing in a classroom are in Longreach, Queensland. Where QANTAS started. All of the other CHILDREN are our National girls and boys choir. They are in them all and all are beautiful. We love to travel but Australia always calls us home. No matter where we go the best part is landing with this song playing.

Ash Barty was the lady talking on the mobile (famous Australian tennis player). I still call Australia home is originally sung (I think it was also written by him) by Peter Allen (who was also famous for "tenterfield saddler")

We have a number of pink lakes due to a type of algae. Lake Hillier is probably the most well known.

This isn't quite at the national anthem level, but it definitely tugs at the heart strings of all Aussies. Thanks to Peter Allen, sadly no longer with us, for writing this wonderful song that QANTAS has adopted as their own.

The water was not pink because of salt deposits, it is pink because of the special algae that grow in the water there. There are several pink lakes in different widely separated areas of Australia and each location has a different unique species of algae. Most of the pink lakes are not particularly salty but heavy rainfall and flodding of fresh water into the lakes usually lessens the intensity of the colour for a time until the lakes, which generally have none or a very restricted outflow of water, are able to build back up its nutrient levels and stabilise its ph levels, mostly via some evsporation of the lake's water so the algae population can recover, build up and produce a more vivid colour.
