Venev F240/F400 diamond matrix stone/ 1 micron Gunny Juice review Hogue Ritter (Hair Whittling Edge)

Had to do a repair/full sharpening on my Hogue Ritter RSK MK1 G2 today and thought i would use the venev F240/f400 stone to do it and share my thoughts on the stone. In my opinion if you just need one great stone this could be it. but i will review some of the others in the future. I also finished the edge on the new 1 micron gunny juice compound to a hair whittling edge and share some brief initial thoughts on it as ive only had it for a day.

I have the old 400/800. Definitely finer than that. Load up kills me on them. Great tip on the magic eraser. Will try that next time.

@@steel2stone Will do. I think I have one left, so when I sharpen the 10 knives I've been procrastinating on, I'll def give it a try. ;)

Just got 3 set centaur beta 100% I think but lot smaller than I thought it would be, I just sharpen with them in hand. Also have a 25% 800/1200 I finish with typically no bur to remove. I need to learn to sharpen with the plate carrier and bigger plates.

Its worth it to learn. I learned with stone in hand as well. But table top is definitely faster

Oleic acid works a lot better😉 Slow down loading by half and stones are clean.. That is not problem on lower # like 80,150 and 240 but it makes a big difference on the high grit stone.. Thx for upload..

How is oleic acid different to mineral oil which is used as a cutting lubricant.

@@brianhoffman5367 In composition i have no idea but in use it slows down the loading... I used both side by side and its pretty significant difference.. Mineral oil has about the same effect as water on loading..

I've switched to Trend lapping fluid. No loading in use with it. Even id you hone dry, a few drops of trend and a rub with your finger all loading is removed in seconds. KnifeMaker

Was wondering why no one explains what and why resin bond is always used in motorized equipment. Reason ,is because resin is very difficult to release any abrasive mateix by hand sharpening. You should be expecting to work 20x more ineffective by using resin bonded abrasives ny hand. This is not an opinion. It is fact.

Gunny juice is stupidly overpriced. It should be around $2.00. Otherwise it's a great video. Try adding mineral oil to you water dish soap mix. Should help with the loading. Also going below 320 grit won't speed things at all and deeper scratches are take longer to remove. Great video

There’s not a product like gunny juice on the market. It’s pricey but the stuff lasts forever.

Gunny juice Lasts forever. If you sharpen one knife every 3 months!. Poly diamond is for effective and fast cutting speed because of the multi sides of the diamond structure. That is why mono diamond, even though less expensive is much more durable. That is because all synthetic diamonds start out as mono diamonds. Gunny juice use approximately 3% diamond by volume, of the complete emulsion that it used. So you are correct. It is worth less than $2.00!

Oh, I forgot to say that gunny juice product is made for mr. Scott Gunn, by Venev. Gritomatic. Take your pick. So the reason for it's pricey nature is because too many steps are involved in the multiple level of markups!
