Nice. I just ordered one after watching this review. I've been wanting one I can take on the road or trails that can take on hills without spending 3k+ .and I love the color.

Would be great if you did a comparison btwn this Summit and the Aventon Ramblas. About $1,000 more, expect the Ramblas is superior, but your perspective would be helpful.

Wow, fast to release this review! Only issue I see is the 8 speed small rear cassette. A big 10 speed would help up hillls, but not bad.

I agree and addresses the concerns with the Velotric team but it’s really not that bad only on super punchy short climbs you might notice it

You can easily upgrade it to a 10-11 casette as well as the shifter!

@@chaxologist2961naw, not quite that simple; a larger cassette would very likely require a new derailleur, too. In 8 speed, larger cassette options are not available, which means the owner needs to upgrade to at least a 9 speed, which also now means a new chain. So, can be done, but not that similarly or inexpensively.

How is it compared to the Ride1UP LMT’D V2?

I'm surprised you didn't mention weight as something you'd like to see lowered. It's 65lbs? Seems portly for a MB. even an EMB. Also, watching the video it seemed like anything but nimble to ride, and even bone-jarring on the descent. That could have just been the conditions though. Great video and content. Thank you for sharing it!

Thanks for watching! We definitely want it to be lighter, but for sub $2k with that size battery and a hub motor, the weight is more or less what we'd expect. It's a tradeoff of something entry-level.

New price as of 6/1/24 $1999.

Can the battery on this bike be charged outside of the bike, or does it need to be installed to charge?

is there room for larger tires, especially the rear to maybe help with the extra hub weight ?

Well the rear obviously can’t change out cause the motor in the wheel design but the front maybe, I’ll try throwing a 29er on mine tomorrow

Ever since the drop in sales of the commuter/urban ebike market, it seems every one of those 'commuter-only' ebike manufacturers are all jumping into the EMTB market. Let's see how long they last.

I'm not at all interested in a workout on a bike. Just enjoy the outdoors and leisure. Or getting myself to work at 35-40 mph. We don't have bike or dirt bike trails within 100 miles. No bike paths or lanes. But I enjoy the reviews. Nice job all! Looks like it has some good top end but just shy of my 40 mph requirement.

I don't see any ebike doing 40 mph at the price range of this Velotric Summit 1.

No, you can ride and use the bike on its own.

29 inch wheels would have been better, the Altus derailleur can be had on $600 non-electric hybrid and mountain bikes. A kick stand prob not a good thing to have on single track. Full light setup overkill for trails. Hub motor with unwanted extra weight in rear. Seems like they didn't want to go full on trail bike so it's a weird mix of components that just makes a lot of compromises. The Aventon Ramblas though more expensive is at least a full on no excuses mountain bike for those who want or need electric assist.

Ummm … a hub motor means you can still ride home with assist if you break derailleur, or chain, unlike a useless mid drive motor…..You upgrade the wheels, fork and put a shimano zee derailleur and get back with me…
