Hoch oben auf dem Berg Hradschin inmitten der Prager Burg thront der St.-Veits-Dom, der neben der Karlsbrücke das wohl bekannteste Gebäude der tschechischen Hauptstadt ist. Das Gemäuer ist indes nicht nur Anziehungspunkt für unzählige Touristen, sondern Blick auch auf eine bewegte Geschichte zurück, die den St.-Veits-Dom im Laufe der Jahrhunderte erst zu dem gemacht hat, was er heute ist.
Der heute aus zwei Teilen und drei Schiffen bestehende Sakralbau verfügt über ein 124 Meter langes Hauptschiff sowie ein 60 Meter breites Querschiff. Der 99 Meter hohe Hauptturm bietet den Besuchern ein atemberaubendes Panorama auf Prag und das Umland.

The St. Vitus Cathedral sits enthroned high up on the Hradschin mountain in the middle of Prague Castle, and next to the Charles Bridge it is probably the most famous building in the Czech capital. The walls are not only a point of attraction for countless tourists, but also a look back at an eventful history, which over the centuries has made St. Vitus Cathedral what it is today.
The sacred building, which today consists of two parts and three naves, has a 124-meter-long main nave and a 60-meter-wide transept. The 99 meter high main tower offers visitors a breathtaking panorama of Prague and the surrounding area.
