    Loved this game. Luckily only one out of every eight people need to buy this gem to spread its wonder to every gaming group in the world.

    This is a lovely review, and most welcome as the new KS is running and im trying to make up my mind. I'm a bit worried that once the bluff aspect wears off and players just want to play more tactically, the game will lose its substance as you seem to have experienced in your late night game. Watching their official 5 player playthrough actually highlighted that for me, that there's only little game behind the bluff element. After failing to stop myself backing Thunder Road (had to experience the hype!), i find this game reasonably price... Which says it all about Restoration Games price tag... I love your channel, your opinion is well appreciated 👍👍

    Yeah that definitely is the concern that can happen. I will say that I've played the Hadria expansion once and while they claim it keeps the tension of the runaway leader in check, and I believe it does, there's still that potential down the line for everyone revealing their characters. I also think 5 players is the worst player count for this game (although I still would happily play it at 5) because there are more players than there are unknown colours, so the chances that your bluff will turn out to be someone's piece is much higher. This is one of the reasons why I like it at 2 because there are so many colours out there to bluff with. But I agree, when the bluff aspect isn't there, and you can definitely have people who don't do it effectively, the game isn't as suspenseful and fun. Although there was one game of 6 where we pinpointed the blue team and tried desperately to tear them down and were unable to because of a poor tactical decision from one of us and then the game became gang up on blue as much as possible, and it was an okay time, but I think it's all about when that shift happens and if it's too early. So not for everyone, but I've had pretty good successes with my group. I'm a bit sour on it currently because I vehemently dislike the $1 pre pledge wave that's happening, but at least IV were the first people to be a bit more upfront about why they were doing it and not just say "hey it will build community!"

    This is one I'd love to have, but it's very expensive for what it is. 401 Games has 5 for pre-order at $116, which is quite expensive.

    So glad you mention you like it at low player counts. Everyone seems to think this is a 5-6 player game. Its AMAZING at 3, feels like the right amount of hidden info. At 5 its very good but i feel like it is actually much easier to pin people down to a specific demi as people are afraid to help other player's demigods and play their own game at 5. At least that has been my experience

    Agree completely, 5 players might be my least favourite player count because of all the information that's out there.

    This has been my gaming group's favourite ever since I received the game. In fact, I believe this is our most played game ever and we've been together since 2008. Like you said, the game scales beautifully and if you're into mystique and bluffing, this is one to get your hands on. Thanks for the review!

    I ordered mythic mischief from their webstore last month and I almost put this in the cart too. I think if it was slightly cheaper I would have pulled the trigger. I'll probably end up with it eventually, but maybe I'll wait til they do the Veild Fate Titan edition :)

    They are 2 different games tbh. I really love MM but I didn't enjoyed Veiled Fate. I was expecting to love Veiled Fate A LOT and I had not that much expectation from MM. MM is thinking and rewards you for it. Veiled Fate is a trying to be a Hide in Plain Sight game but at the same time it doesn't want to be too much punishing if you get revealed. It shied on it's own concept to not exclude people that would either play badly or doesn't want to hide themselves extensively. This is own I felt about it, so I sold it.

    Great review George! I personally think 5 player game is more fun than 6 players since when the numbers are even, people generally show who they are earlier on to team up and mystery and chaos are gone. But for 5 players, since you could be the one without any partner, everyone plays cautiously and fun things happen. Either way, Veiled Fate is a fun and easy accessible game!

    Has anyone tried playing it 4 player as 2 vs 2? I don't see it listed as an option, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

    I agree about having more unknown Demigods making it more fun. Although having played a bit with teams, I felt it ended up making it a bit easier to figure out which Demigods were in play, because two people are trying to move the same Demigod. It makes it really interesting to see how people try to bluff though and sometimes screw over their own partner.

    Yeah I can see that. It then becomes a bit more of who do you trust around the table, which becomes particularly significant when you're getting people to add the extra cards to quests, and they don't pick their teammate, that can really shift the balance of who does well in that particular quest

  • @sideswipe2615

    @@terinrichardson6061 okay, so it’s definitely pricey, so if you can’t get it, don’t take a loan out or anything. If you have a group and want to split it, it might be perfect? Or just get the base game and see if you like it or not. My problem is that I ordered it through Kickstarter and therefore the horror of what I did to my bank account was considerably detached from the enjoyment of opening the package and sleeving the cards and playing the game. Both of those caveats out of the way, the game is very fun and has brought many of my groups much joy, but I honestly don’t know if it was worth it, because of how steep it is.

    The game looks alright, I am intrigued... I just don't get why it's so expansive. Simple gameplay and on quantity of components are on the low end, yet it's priced as much or more than some miniature heavy games. It's a shame I might never try it for this alone.

    I gotta say, while I do enjoy premium boardgames with nice, quality components and am usually willing to pay the price for that, IV games are simply way too expensive for what they are - and this comes from someone who bought Foundations of Rome. Same reason why I stayed away from Moonrakers, I initially wanted to get the base game + all expansions, but then realized that this would put me at ~230€. For a bunch of holo cards, like 5 spaceship minis and some cardboard. Forget about the ridiculously overpriced metal add-ons and "promo packs". While Veiled Fate is not as bad, it still costs way too much. I know that IV games excuse is that they are a small publisher, but so many other small publishers manage to to offer a lot more for a lot less.

  • @Exozik
    @Exozik Жыл бұрын

    I disliked this game. First, I bought the metal version which all colors are very dark and it made reading the state of the board much harder. Second, I found that figuring out who someone Demigod is doesn't stop him from getting to win unless many act against him so the hide in plain sight thing wasn't as impactful as I was expecting it to.

  • @RoomandBoardReviews

    @RoomandBoardReviews

    Жыл бұрын

    Both really legitimate points. i wouldn't want to play with the metal, i barely think you need the minis. And that's definitely what I mean by investing in the above the table interaction. I was having the most fun when there was that table talk and bluffing with each other, that one game we played when we were tired and everyone was basically pretty open with who they had was a let down.

    Yeah, I agree, always find IV games stuff super pricey, I was happy they did a retail version of Fractured Sky, you want to be really sure that it'll be worth it for your group if you get it at these prices though. Still is a great game, but I know when I tell people the price and ask if they'd be willing to pay they always pause and generally end up on the No side of things
