    03:10 Coleman propane two-burner camp-stove! Excellent decision! . 2003, for our ExpeditionVehicle, we chose that model, instead of a permanent galley... used a few minutes daily, but occupying 24/7/360° cubic space. Over two decades full-time live-aboard. Anything other than portable and modular is 'attempting to duplicate a stand-still house inside a vehicle'. . [edited to add] Use, wipe, stow the stove back in its cubby.

    Plus the portable stove can be taken outside to use and no greasy orders or grease inside. I prefer to cook outside anyways and in place of a built in stove in our expedition vehicle it gave us more room for a larger refrigerator. We like the choice of either in or outside with our portable stove and it gives you a choice of electric or propane if you like. Some people like the options and the choices as an example some don’t care for a bathroom where as we do like one it’s these things you can choose at the time your camper is being built. Thank You

    I love the idea of the light weight welded aluminum construction. However fuel efficient and Unimog don't belong in the same sentence. The weight reduction is a drop in the bucket compared to the friction loss with portal axles. It is a sleek and modern looking exterior, but rather rustic interior decor.

    Beautiful, great set-up, plus the balcony which is higher than anyone, didn't see a dining table, but the kitchen counter was awesome, the stove is a plus to give more space and the storage space was the biggest winner plus the larger bathroom. What's the cost, because most Overland units are expensive?

    These days i’m a fossil with a crap back. That bed over the cab has a dismal mattress. Why is it so thin and in two sections when it’s in a fixed space. Weird. I liked the back deck, I assume it does actually flatten out when properly deployed? You could have done more with it though. A fly screen enclosure for example, or plastic walls for bad weather. The gas camp stove was a bit low budget. It really detracted from the overall experience. Still, i wouldn’t say no if someone gave it to me. I’d just ‘fix’ it!

    Alu plate that is not sandwich glued... never a smoot surface.... heat/cold stretches... look for the " dents" here ... I had a box overhang - bed... so , 3 chassis; one of the Unimog, one torsion free and one in the box floor, so with an hydraulic cilinder I could tilt de box backwards ( as a dump truck ) and the cabin tilt to the front.... and a door in two parts, electric with on the lower part, the folding staircase steps. But yeach... I'm an amateur... ( My opinion ? Van inside builders with no nolidge of a Unimog and sandwich walls plus what off-road needs and will be destroyed ) And space under a floor that is not used , what a waste... Looks nice, yep .

  • @philhealey4443

    @philhealey4443

    6 ай бұрын

    @gregsheridan Yes, a significant amount of torsional chassis flexing is normal, assuming a 4 point mounting, so a generous clearance is needed above the cab. Having been involved with Unimogs both having a proper torsion-free box mount and unwisely rigidly fixing the box to the chassis, I can confirm several inches of clearance will be required here on top of the cab roof.

  • @rangemog21

    @rangemog21

    6 ай бұрын

    @@philhealey4443 For tilting the cabin, to work on the engine, one needs +/- 60 cm between the undersite box and cabin roof. So one needs a construction to lift the undersite of the box, ... your answer talks about torsion. Mercedes gives top cabin to the same hight of a box, a maximum swing of 30 cm . Mercedes has a book with 430 pages how to mount something on the Unimog. Not only about a box but all kinds of things and tools . The box in this video is too close to the roof cabin and nowhere they talk about torsion free. Mounting something on a Unimog can't be compared with eny other truck.

    looks pretty good! how is the durability overall with the use of principally aluminum for the camper box? I mean yes lightweight but how about durability? any issues? looks great though! well designed for sure -- how about putting a rear box on for a bicycle or motorcycle? maybe the back stairs could be redesigned - looks a bit clumsy? I dont know I have to see it in person! looks exciting for sure.

    They need a proper interior designer to bring the full potential to these builds. The colors they have dont work well together. Also, different materials dont blend well - plastic, pine, etc. Earthroamer interior is a perfect use case for how great a well planned and integrated interior can look like. This one here looks like 5 different people did their own thing without talking to each other.

    I can't agree more, i mean you can see that it's a common issue with their builds. All the exteriors look so well planned, but you go inside and it's just depressing. They need to hire an interior designer with experience that knows how to use materials, plan layouts to be more inviting and use better colors... i mean puke green with pine and white cabinets? What were they smoking.

    OMG, who comes up with such stupid ideas? - No lockable access between the driver's compartment and the living area. This means that anyone can rummage around in your personal belongings during shipping. This eliminates the need to ship your expensive photo equipment BY car. It is also not certain whether most of the tools and spare parts have found another owner after shipping. - Opening tailgate.... Have fun with the dust inside. I don't have a single seal that reliably keeps out the fine Sahara dust that forms in the wake behind the vehicle. - For the same reason, every serious explorer vehicle has the doors as far forward as possible and rarely has windows that can be opened at the rear. - Alkovensleeper.... a good idea in itself, but I wouldn't want to sleep up there in the desert with so little headroom. It's the purest oven, even the mini ventilator you can see doesn't help. Again, serious manufacturers or self-builders with experience would only implement something like this if there is at least 1 meter of free space above the bed. If this is not possible, the alcove is not used. - And while we're on the subject of alcoves. Has anyone ever thought about the Unimog's large intersection? In tough off-road use, the driver's cab and the alcove collide. This means that the Mog cannot be used for rough terrain and that is exactly what it was designed for!!! Conclusion: Pretty, but totally useless junk with which you can show off in front of the ice cream parlor, but with which you can't even survive a weekend in the desert away from the roads without destroyed superstructures and dusty living space
