Vehicle Memory Saving - The Battery Shop

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Although this video may provide you with the basic procedures, we recommend that you check with the vehicle manufacture's step by step procedures found in service/repair manuals for the vehicle you are working on.
Some late model vehicles must have the 12 volt battery registered with the vehicle's Battery Control Module or Computer after replacement. See these videos on Battery registration and coding for more details on the procedures at • Video & • Battery Registration &...
Always wear safety glasses and gloves when working with or near batteries.

Very good vid as many radio's have an anti theft mode that disables the radio when its disconnected from its12v power source. Put the new battery in and the Radio will ask for an access code-which came with the car when it was new. Hope fully you have the original owners manual and the original owner wrote it down someplace in the manual. Its a four digit code that you input with the radio buttons. Note that as of July 2021 the special Toyota Hybrid glass mat aux battery is $350. Most techs keep a small motor cycle around to provide 12v power to keep the Engine Control Module and Radio happy should the small aux battery need replacing. Note with dead battery you can't open the trunk very easy.

Since 2020 Pandemic began, my car has been sitting for over a year without being operated. It is now "dead" which I expected. Is it best for me to remove the battery to keep it from corroding? I'm sure it will affect the vehicle's memory. I'm unable to afford purchasing a new battery at this time and since retiring and the 2020 pandemic, I barely drive. Thank you for being so helpful and your videos.

Hi - You're welcome and thanks for watching! Lead-Acid batteries will sulphate if left in a discharged state over a period of time. You might be able to charge your battery with a battery charger to get the vehicle running, but it will most likely be unreliable and have to be replaced. You may want to consider a "battery maintainer" to keep the battery charged during the times you are not driving it.

autozone recommended to keep the car running on idle, while you replace a new battery. i've been there 3 times. the first 2 were changed with the car off, the battery just keep having problem with idling and starting.(at the end my 03 camry reset its memory by holding on idle 1500rpm for 8minute to reset the memory, thanks to that autozone guy ) the 3rd time with a another car while the car is on, every thing seem normal, and it doesn't need to reset any thing. just keep those two wire not touching each other, it will be fine.

On the average vehicle, using a memory saver is more for convenience.. such as saving radio station presets, and other settings. There are some vehicles out there however that can have issues when memory is lost but I don't encounter that very often on my job but have an good idea which ones actually need a memory saver.

@@Cristian-jg7rk Personally I've changed a handful of batteries on the Jeep Renegade without a memory saver and have not had any issues afterwards. Depending on which infotainment system/screen you is in your model (there are 2 versions) you may have to reset your clock and radio station presets, but you definitely will not loose anything like stored Bluetooth devices, etc.
