you know the sad thing about that username is that if hit made it until the end like we all expected, and ribrianne and everyone else just disappeared like cannon fodder, then people would be complaining that the arc had no twists, no real story, and that new characters with so much potential just got totally wasted because Toei wanted to keep fans happy and let them see all the "important" characters do what they want. not that I think Ribrianne deserved to outlast hit, but the tournament needed some surprises.

I remember how my stepdad and I used to bond over anime, especially Dragon Ball Z. He convinced me to watch the whole Buu saga with him because he had almost every DBZ episode on VHS and I agreed to it. What really brought us closer was when Vegeta's sacrifice came on and he told me that if he could, he'd do the same for me and my siblings. Really put into perspective how much he genuinely loved us. It's crazy to think how DBZ is one of the reasons I have such a strong bond with my dad.

Vegeta’s greatest enemy will always be his own pride. I remember watching this as a 10 year old and realizing how crazy and beautiful it was to be crying over someone who doesn’t even exist

It's actually kinda interesting. Vegeta's pride is both his biggest weakness and his greatest strength at the same time. His pride can lead him to do foolish things (such as him allowing Cell to achieve his perfect form), but it can also drive him to do what needs to be done, like when he tried to avenge Trunks after he was fatally wounded by Cell, or when Vegeta sacrificed himself to try and kill Buu. His rage against Cell to me was motivated both by Vegeta's shame at failing to be there when his son needed him the most and his pride in his son's growth. And with his Final Explosion, I see him as being motivated again by shame in the harm that he'd done as Majin Vegeta as well as the pride he felt for his son....and the pride he had in himself to do what he believed needed to be done. His pride is an indelible part of Vegeta's character. Vegeta simply isn't "Vegeta" without that pride. It's that pride that keeps him going, even if he stumbles and falters at times due to it, it's still a vital part of who he is.

This was one of the most emotionally moving pieces from the original Z series. I just felt the whole time, the helpless oncoming of tragedy. Even as a kid, I just knew something was horribly, terrible wrong during this scene. There is so much foreboding hidden within this track, so much that even as young as I was, I could feel a great sorrow and fear of what is to come. It is beautiful. Just listening to this as Vegeta and Trunks hugged in complete silence for several minutes, with Goten onlooking with concern. Its just such a powerful scene, the scene with the most impact out of the whole series. If you never liked Vegeta for the whole series, this would be the moment where you loved or at the very least respected the man. Good job Bruce for this fantastic piece.

Rip Majin vegeta. The darkest days of dragonball z without a doubt very deep and meaningful will never forget the nostalgic music and quotes from the mighty Saiyan prince!

Davinder Badman technically he can only be revive once by the dragon ball, he was granted a special condition just like goku when he did his final sacrifice. He dodge a bullet there.

+yukido asuna He could only be revived once by EARTH'S Dragon Balls, as there was a limit set at one revive per-person, and, Vegeta had already died on old Namek (people always seem to forget that Frieza killed him, and he got revived by Shenron after Mr. Popo made a wish to revive all those on Namek who had been killed by Frieza, including those indirectly killed, like Guru)... Vegeta got revived by Porunga on New Namek, after he killed himself attempting to kill Majin Buu...

Z is better because (in that particular speech) it gives much more insight to his character and thoughts while in Kai he just says obvious surface level shit anyone already knows. Basically I think Z added much needed character depth.

Deaj When you change things that aren’t in the original script you aren’t adding anything to their character. You are contradicting it. Example. In the Z dub In the saiyan saga, Vegeta proposed Goku join him. He never said this in the Japanese version. He actually goes into further detail about their saiyan heritage. Just one of countless examples how messy the English dub was. I prefer to follow the canon story which Kai does very well. The Z dub was riddled with inconsistencies and it disrespected the original intent. I also think Vegeta in the manga and Japanese is better than he is in The English dub of Z.

I kind of wish the series would have ended with Vegeta's death, so much emotion for the once proud prince of the Saiyans.

***** Yeah that was kind of an odd way to end it. It just felt wrong. Sure he peaced out before but he always had a good reason. Not that time. Looking back it kinda felt like a TFS scene. "By guys! Imma go train this skinny brown kid for a few years in parts unknown." Then Gohan has a mental break down caused by his abandonment issues rushing back all at once.

The buildup to 3:10 is just amazing! This is one track from Faulconer I enjoy.

Not only does this make you feel emotional, at 4:15, it just.... scares you, makes you feel off put, but saddened.

This is (IMO) probably the most emotionally tense moment in all of dbz. You know what's going to happen just by the tone of everything that's going on at that point. An honest change for Vegeta that shows character development. Dbz is such a well crafted show, and I think there are many aspects other than fighting that can be appreciated.

This moment was a turning point for them all. Krillin was largely part of the reason Vegeta could become a Z Fighter. But the point of him yelling his name like that... Was because the Final Explosion was the last thing they expected from him... Remember, Krillin had no idea what Vegeta was going to do, and originally, Piccolo didn't tell him. Krillin was always selfless. He may have held some animosity for Vegeta... But he never wanted him to die...

There's a moment during this episode right before vegeta knocks out goten and trunks where vegeta stands up and looks toward the place where majin buu landed after trunks' kick, and the camera switches to the bodies of everyone who was defeated or knocked out, and I took that to mean we were seeing Vegeta's POV as he was sensing for everyone's energy, then when it switches back to him, it's the moment when he realizes that no one else is here, and that it's finally his turn to make the sacrifice. Amazing scene...one of the few in the series that actually makes my eyes water.

ALP pretty much, the first person he actually ever killed was Raditz along with Goku and Kami mentioned how Piccolo while he had shelfesh reasons at the time choose to protect the earth instead of endanger it. Only legends came here during quarantine

I remember my first time seeing this scene in it's entirety. This was very emotional, chilling, and awesome. The insert of Buu's theme as he appears to be approaching was beyond chilling. And for long standing fans, a theme of a villain playing means they approach, are present, or are about to do something major. There is just something about buu's theme for that small part of it that is perfectly chilling. Emphasizing how much of a threat he is. Though things get more uncomfortable as Piccolo tells Vegeta his fate, but regardless respecting Vegeta's decision to sacrifice himself and taking buu with him. The music from that point onward as Vegeta interacts with Buu was some of the most amazing shit ever. His end being sad. But even if it was pointless, he did it out of ending the curse of Majin Buu to protect those he cares about and ending the darkness placed over him by Babadi. This was a character turn for one of the most badass characters in a series you'd come across. Vegeta has earned his place in many hearts after this episode.

This was when DBZ truly became the greatest ever anime. Vegetas sacrifice is the greatest character development ive ever seen. This music is the reason its so great

This theme instantly sent a chill across my body. I can literally feel the sadness.

Kai music is the japanese music, you hate it but obviously haven't taken the time to learn or experience it for yourself, ignorance of the American db fanbase...japanese(OG/kai) and English dub of the db series are great in their own way.

The fuck are you talking about? DBZKai replaced the Japanese Dragon Ball Z music and literally all of Hironobu Kageyama's songs with Kenji Yamamoto's bullshit.

Man Bruce sure does know how to make great anime music.. this is why I got hooked to DBZ.

Vegeta will never not be my favorite character. Even as an adult at times when I struggle with life, I always remember how tough Vegeta is and how hard he has always worked to prove to himself that he is worth something. From childhood he always has and always will be my favorite anime character from any anime. #TrueSaiyan

At 2:38 they mash it up with buu's theme. Beautiful music, just touching!

Its been years ! But even still today when ever hear it i get goose bumps all over my body….this scene was so much powerful that my body and mind still remembers it ….everything was top notch in this scene the lines the music the animation the emotion the narration everything was outclass.

People may say that Faulconers' score is not what DBZ was supposed to be. This is proof to me that that opinion is incorrect. There's definite emotion conveyed in this track. I enjoy it. A lot. Edit: amended as I think back on Super, and how good the show was initially for me. The score is great. For something like this, heard when I was young, it got me in the feels then, and still does now.

A villain, turned grey hero, if only for those he has ever respected and loved. Since that fateful moment in the DB series, Vegeta has had a grand transfiguration. Though still a man of great personal pride, he has undoubtedly found that same pride in those around him.

5:30, best theme ever 💯

Ever see two grown men cry? Well my best friend and I cried during this scene the first time we saw it. Yes - we were baked off of our asses. Yes we emotionally broke.

I cried watching my favorite character float in the air with his body completely reduced to ashes as he fell to the ground and scattered in the wind

Idc what anyone says the way Vegeta went out was both the saddest and most badass ways an anime character can go out. Vegeta knew he was going to hell and and still made himself self distruct!

One of the best themes in dragon ball I remember i used to be obssessed with this in 2019

It comes natural when your soul/innocence is like Goku's, but when you are the prince, prince of all Saiyans, it is the toughest thing one can do. Blessings
