I absolutely love this. It humanizes people like Vegeta, just how hard he is willing to work in order to reach Goku’s level. It shows different people training at different levels. Vegeta with the gravity chamber, and Goku, piccolo and Gohan training together, as well as Tien and Chaotzu doing their own thing. It gives us slice of life, it gives us tension, and it’s SUPER fun

King Cold in his Second Form should be around 60 Mio while Mecha Frieza in his Final Form should be around 150 Mio at 100%.

Toriyama made a sport out of making Vegeta look bad. Giving him this small W was too keep him somewhat relevant. I think Toriyama never got over that his most hated character got close to Gokus Popularity in such short time. Deep down I think it bugged him so he kept him but on his terms. He couldve gone the other route of accepting and respecting a psrt of the DBZ fanbase not being crazy over Goku by giving Vegeta a Major W. Resurrection of F ending made clear that Toriyama still coudnt do this fanservice to a loyal part of the fanbase after all those years. Old stubborn Japanese...

Goku is the main character and #1 always will be, Vegeta was originally intended to be a disposable villain..yeah Vegeta is popular no doubt but hes still #2 , even with how they give Gohan convenient power plot armor and he was setup to be the successor...There is no dragonball without Goku

I don’t think it’s likely that Toriyama changed his story this early to discredit vegeta only to prop him up later. Remember that DBZ started airing in 1989. Well before Vegeta achieved the popularity he has today.

@@jasonhearn5818 There shouldnt be a Dragonball without Goku, but not letting others share the spotlight once in a while is just a slap in the face of loyal fans of characters other then Goku. Gohan got it, Gohan got so strong because he is half saiyan but Trunks is too but it doesnt apply to him story wise because he is not Gokus son. In that matter I like to compare Toriyama with a Disc Jockey who keeps on playing his favorite song on a party while a lot of guests would like something else once in a while. I am very thankful that he created the DB universe but I dont respect him for disregarding his fans. I mean he let Vegeta have a change from evil to somewhat good so the notion that a bad role model cant be the hero in a show which is also intended for kids doesnt apply.

Goku was explaining to Trunks that he wasn’t able to become a SS at will, he transformed the first time because of his rage from Krillin’s death, then again because Frieza betrayed his mercy, the transformation was fueled by rage and not because Goku could just “do it”.

Like the one time vegeta actually got to do something. I guess he did take out Cui, Dadoria and Zarbon pretty effectively. But definitely after the frieza saga and that brief moment he gets to show off his power as a supersaiyan by dispatching 19, he pretty much always gets sidelined right after making a badass entrance

Toriyama should have wrote complex story that allowed Vegeta to save the day for once, instead of writing that moment, and then immediately undoing it 2 seconds later like he did with his sacrifice to take out buu

One aspect of the Future Trunks arc in Super that I really loved was seeing the vast difference and improvement in Trunks and Vegeta’s relationship and knowing that Vegeta’s character development from Buu arc to that point was because of Future Trunks (SN: I really love the segment when everyone is catching up with Goku and laughing and joking after Trunks leaves, gotta love DB’s down to earth/ slice of life moments where everyone is together

It was partly #17 too, who slammed Trunks into him. That makes it a little less shameful for him that he was double teamed for a second in the end imo (and the fact they had infinite stamina which meant not even Piccolo was able to do much in his fight).

THIS. This is the moment. We love Goku, and he did his best, but due to his disease, he couldn’t handle this fight. In comes Vegeta. He FINALLY achieves what he was always destined to become. This was one of the greatest moments in all of Dragonball. I love it to death.

Hard to watch this for an hour when you take all the good parts out.
