I'll never forget watching this in 2002 as a kid getting chills. I was eating a bowl of cereal right after school when toonami was on everyday and I literally spit out my cereal in disbelief. This show will always be my favorite anime. The memories, the video games, the action figures. It was a great time to be a kid back in the good toonami days. I'm 29 now and still enjoy watching DBZ

Yeah and he could actually sustain ssj3 form somewhat longer while having a dead body because he mastered it with that body and that form consumes way too much energy very fast. This is such a bittersweet video, you can almost feel the early 2000s energy radiating off of it. Things may never be the same, but at least these videos will always be a testament to how things were. Also I gotta add how deceptively likeable buu actually was, in the beginning he technically wasn't even evil.

“Do it dad” Man something about that line just hits different. I’m 33 so THIS was the peek of my childhood from watching Dragonball up until this moment, watching Goku grow as a character.. knowing who he is and what he represents, how hard he works and how he never backs down from a challenge no matter the circumstances. To hear his son Goten say “do it dad” just shows how much confidence he has in knowing his dad is going to advance to the next level which he did… this will always and forever be my #1 anime of all time 🫡❤️

My first time seeing dbz was in this moment at 7 years old One of The best memory of my life 🎉

Goku's American voice actor be like: "so, todays' script... Yelling... ... Am i paid for the length or for the words?"

The personality and dynamic of Goten & Trunks as children who grew up as cousins so to speak - even brothers - is amazing.

Respect for Sean Schammel. His screams are extraordinary.

Tears everytime...this is the version i remember

back then when transformation takes the entire episode, but it gives you goosebumps and unforgettable memories.... anime and story telling these days, lack suspense and context... even the drawing has so much less details...

The background music is so amazing as well. Goes so well with the scene.

If Goku wasn't dead and didn't have a time limit, he'd have dusted Buu right here.

Yes and no. SS3 Goku took a lot out of him just to transform to it. And Buu keeps getting stronger, especially one transformation after the other. From Skinny Buu to Kid Buu, definitely.

@urekmazino6800 In terms of "power," maybe. But Buu had regenerative properties, and his energy came from magic; Goku can't heal, and his energy comes from his Ki which SSJ3 burned through before he put a dent into Buu. Buu was just playing the entire time.

By far the coolest looking transformation. I wish he could have used this much more often.

That's why he didn't want to be brought back because someone always tries killing goku. In super is when goku was dumbed down and cared more about training in dbz he loved his family to death he always tried to be strong to protect them as for vegeta he didn't have the threats like goku did. Back when radiz was a thing he kidnapped his kid he was forced to keep getting stronger and stronger

You guys forget Kakarot was never TRYING to end Buu here. He only originally planned to stall for time for Trunks. But the dumb kid took FOREVER to accomplish his task and had to be yelled at twice about it. By the time Trunks finally got his shit together Kakarot had burned through too much energy. Much more than he intended to.

I remember back then I wanted to power up like I was going ssj3 but that shit was too long 😂

I love DBZ from the animations to the fighting are great. It doesn't have repetition moves/fights like other DB.

@@doctorgames101b well honestly it didnt make sense for him to pull it out at all considering the Tournament is an endurance match and SSJ3 is the singular largest power drain in his arsenal after SSBKKx20 (literally his full power) so he quite literally did it just to flex on the more inexperienced Universe 6 Saiyans for like 5 seconds

In my country we were way behind the US. Cell games were on repeat on tv while Funimation released this in America. Also, on our cartoon network they showed the Ocean dub. My 10 year old ass found out how to download these episodes. I was so proud I had the "better" dbz version on my pc. I showed this episode to my best friend and he almost shat his pants from excitement. Even though he didn't even know who buu and babidi were. In hindsight it was a very big spoiler but at least he got to see the Funi version!

It doesn't matter how old I get, I'm always getting goosebumps watching this scene,

This fight will always be so important. Goku used this fight to learn that just because he could evolve to the next level that was higher than Buu, doesn't mean he mastered it or could maintain is long enough to defeat Boo, and even if he did, if he barely beats the next major enemy, what does that mean for the next generations? He proves this in the DBS battle of Goku vs Frieza. Hence the reason why he left the fight to the kids, as they had the time, age, and ability to master the transformation, while Goku did not.

He could have he said it to vegeta later on in the saga in this episode he only objective was to stall for time while trunks got the dragon radar that’s it

43 years old , i watch this one a few times a year. At the last yell of the transformation every hair on my body is standing straight up
