    I just LOVED this episode! You provide all the interesting points of knitting this project, even the smallest details such as the temperature of the water when you block, and the problems encountered like the size of the armholes. It’s helps us think about our own knitting issues or hurdles. I also enjoyed the pattern - beautiful - and the choice of yarn - equally beautiful. It is reassuring to see the look after blocking. Thank you so much for this sharing!

    I enjoyed this whole-project vlog. Especially your evolving thought process: “this needle size will be ok… changed the needle size”; “the armholes may be too tight, so let’s block it … the armholes worked out to be ok as is.” So nice to see the recipient appreciating the project and explaining her length and fit preferences which might have stymied us (ahem) older knitters. 😂

    Loved every minute of this, for all the reasons. You should get a million hits here -- I've been doing a series of tanks like this in all the expected fibers, and currently have my fourth on my lap (black/what a nightmare). You walked through every single wtf I've had to navigate through, and even though I've done the learning curve, this is a video I'll save and re-watch next summer before I launch more. Thank you for the sleek edit, and for all the trouble you took to document the moves. Well done.

    Loved watching this video! Your process is so much like mine. Two comments - first, master knitters will always recommend knitting your swatch a couple of inches bigger than the 4x4 given in the pattern to allow for wonky edge stitches (and your tension is generally more even in the middle of the swatch than at the sides) and in my experience I get better info from a 6x6 swatch. Second, stretchy jewelry cord from a craft store is hollow and works the same as barber cord for a more affordable price point.

  • @neknits

    @neknits

    11 ай бұрын

    Part of me wants to be patient enough to do the 6x6 swatch because I know it's better...but the lazy part of me tends to win out 😂. However I might convert to larger swatches soon as lately (with other projects) I've been encountering size issues! And great tip about the jewelry cord! Thank you!

    I realy wonder, that your gauge matched. I knitted the cinema sweater with a superwashed 100% merino yarn and it grew SO much, that i had to undo the whole sweater. After that i watched a couple of videos abaout gauge swatch and every single one told to do are bigger gauge swatch to REALY see, if the gauge matches. NOW i know, that superwash in general grows a lot, rhe label said 100% SW Merino, so... disnt realize at first. However, im so glad that yours turned out that beautifully and you and your sister, you both are so adorable!

    Thanks for another nice and interesting episode! How wonderful it must be to have such a nice and close relationship with your sister 🤗 I was just wandering, why don't you run your washed items on a spinning cycle of your washing machine? I always wash by hand, but always run it on spinning cycle. I do that with everything: wool, silk, mohair, literally everything. It saves so much time on drying and even makes the fabric look better! :)

  • @neknits

    @neknits

    I've always been scared to put my knits through the machine (even on just spin) but I could be convinced to try it! I however find my knits dry quickly regardless!

  • @jurgitami4730

    @jurgitami4730

    11 ай бұрын

    @@neknits spinning is actually not dangerous, cause the fabric is not being rubbed or agitated, it sticks to the walls of the inside of washing machine. It's hot-cold temperature contrast, wrong kind of soap and rubbing that makes fabric felt. If you feel unsure, you can first try spinning your knit samples. I would highly recommend spinning finished knit items, I can't explain why, but it is really good for the knit fabric, it becomes more airy and fluffy instead of squeezing it with a towel. As I mentioned before, i do that even with mohair and kfo silk 👌😀
