Tuna fish has been referred to as "Chicken of the Sea". When I make my chickpea salad I call it Chickpea of the Sea.
"Why do you guys watch me?" Your videos are great BECAUSE you don't try to hide the messiness and errors that sometimes happen when cooking at home. You don't try to present yourself as perfect or better than your viewers. You're hilarious and adorable and a great and creative cook!

My favorite non-traditional Kimbap to make is oi muchim (Korean spicy marinated cucumber) strips, JUST egg, julienned (sometimes cooked) carrots, bell pepper, & avocado 😋💕
My husband is Japanese so sushi is a staple meal for us. I'm intrigued by the differences and similarities between sushi and kimbap. Will have to try it out.

sometimes i sub the sesame oil for toasted sesame paste and its pretty much the same but no added oil

@@lizzzarduh you can use any toasted sesame paste just dont use tahini bc it tastes completely different.

I loved this video! I used to live in Busan in Korea and I miss kimbap so much. There was an amazing kimbap shop on my walk home and I ate there at least once a week. It was so cheap too! Now I live in Spain and it's quite hard to find some of the ingredients, I've been hunting for the preserved radish for two years (I didn't know the yellow stuff was bad for you though! 😳) But this video has super inspired me and I'm gonna make some vegan kimchi asap! Especially love the addition of gochujang to the rice, genius!

If you use black Indian salt the tofu will taste as eggs. Is named black salt, but you'll find it as pink grounded powder. Is healthy and tasty

Where did you get the giant smoked tofu? I’m also in Canada (Ontario)-so I’m really hoping it’s something I can find around here! I can get the smaller versions, but would looove to get that big guy! Definitely gonna be trying some kimbap! Just gotta get some pickled radish the next time I’m at the Asian Market 😋🌱💕

How does kimbap differ from sushi other than being from korea? I would love to learn more about Korean food!

The rice is seasoned with sesame oil instead of vinegar and sugar. The kimbap ingredients are different and blanched. Kimbap ingredients are seasoned instead of plain.

Sushi is a traditional Japanese cuisine but like many traditional cuisines, many cultures have made their own variations. For example, Japanese curry is sweeter and less spicy than traditional curry. Kimbap is a variation of sushi. Some Kimbap is similar to islander sushi. We use spam, eggs, imitation crab, cucumbers, pickled daikon, and carrots. Most of the time we don't cut it, we just wrap it in foil or ceiling wrap and just bite it off like a burrito/hotdog lol We don't have a name for it like kimbap, we just “insert island name” + sushi. Lol As for differences, traditional sushi uses simple and few ingredients. Well, traditional Japanese cuisine is all about simplicity. It's only in the west that sushi rolls that have many ingredients have been popularized. The most ingredient I would say is like in temaki-hand roll sushi. Cause you can put whatever you want yourself to make a hand roll. So kimbap is similar in that it has many ingredients like western sushi but is also simple with the use of fresh ingredients (although cooked and seasoned) like Japanese sushi. There's even a Korean version of the Japanese rice ball.
Use a bread knife or serrated knife next time! Super clean cuts that way.

I just made the kimchi chickpea kimbap and omg it is so good! I just added gochugaru for more spice 😙👌
If you ate that for lunch what else would you eat with it? You just eat that alone? I think these are a great idea. It's something a person could make ahead of time for lunch the next day.

I always eat the ends of my sushi bc they never turn out good, I figured it was bc I'd only ever been able to use 5+ year old knives that had never been sharpened, but I feel validated knowing you eat the ends too lmao
