I used to suffer when rolling and cutting kimbap rolls bc they would just fall apart. This hack of covering the knife's edge with sesame oil is amazing. Not only it helps getting a clean cut but it also transfers some of that lovely taste between each cut. It also helps to wipe the knife with a moist cloth every now and then to keep it from getting too sticky. I made some kimbap for New Year's Eve and cut it using Aaron's hack and it's probably the prettiest kimbap I've ever made.

"Real" sushi rice is not short grain but actually a tumbled medium grain rice to make it shorter but thicker. But in my experience (5 years in a commercial sushi kitchen + 2-3 years at home) short grain also works. Water ratio is about 1:1 with a smidge extra water.

Can you do 6 new ways to enjoy rice ? I know there is a million ways to use rice but I just want to watch a video so I don’t have to chose between a lot more options.

Aaron, how did you learn your knife skills? (FYI: can’t get perilla leaves here-so I bought some seeds! Just started growing my own perilla leaves! 😇) so knife skills?

Awesome! You are a real dedicated student!!😍👍 Now, you don't need to think of perilla leaves looking at some leaves from random trees. 🤣🤣😊 FYI, my knife skills was kind of survival skill that I got from working at the restaurant. 😂😂😂
