Hi. Its 19,5meters for normal trucks with trailer, 24meter for timbertransport and 25,25meters for modular roadtrains like this.

Max weight is increased from 50 to 60 tons when the length between the first and the last axel is increased

is to spread the load better on road Like you see some times a trailer with 3 axles. but one of 3 axles is more to front Thy do same with fifth wheel. Shift more to front or back to get beter load on axles

Road train? Where?

I like how you can literally take the trailer only and it would be overriding the maximum allowed weight in some American states. Over here in northern Europe we have 60+ ton trucks. In Sweden you can weigh a maximum of 74 tons on certain roads (4 class) and have a maximum length of 32 meters if you have an exemption from Trafikverket. Normally though you can have either 60, 62 or 64 ton road trains, depending on the length between first and last axle on the road train and if it's registered to be allowed to weigh those 64 tons.

Meanwhile, in Australia: Interstate trucks have a Max load between 90 - 140 Tonnes for Road Trains. We want Volvo Sweden to give us Aussies the 750 hp FH XXL.

How is this a road train?

I korte trekk er det akselavstandene som bestemmer litt om hvordan utforming av hengeren er. Derfor blir kassene stor også. Man kan kjøre med totalvekt 60tonn med dette på utvalgte veier. Usikker på hva teknisk vekt er.

MAN 19-464 and semitrailor 3 axe Schmitz in Serbia loading 20-22m³ (1800-2000kg/m³),36-40 tons of load. It was normal for us and drive 200-250 km without priblems. Just usual working day.

This is not a road train Just a tipper and a quod trailer road train has 3 trailers and more...

Can someone explain for the noobs here what the purpose of extending the trailer hitch like that is? The weight is still distributed on the same amount of axles, so I don't get how that would help.

You extend the towbar to spread the weight on a bigger surface. That way you ease up the point load on example bridges..

It is just a two axle semi tipulator with a two axle tow dolly in the front with a air operated extendable draw bar, nothing new there, they have been in New Zealand since possibly 1970- 1980 like that.

You have massive roads in NZ. Come to Europe, you will struggle to drive long trucks.

Well, depends what country yo're referring to. This is a truck, a dolly and a trailer, three vehicles and referred to as a vehicletrain or roadtrain in Scandinavia.

Its to increase the lenght between truck and trailer. This gives you the possibility to increase total weight from 50 tonnes to 60 tonnes.

Some mistakes when assembling the movie. Different trucks, one 6x2 and one 6x4. A Caterpillar wheelloader suddenly changes into beeing a Volvo wheel loader.

That accually a good spotting, but the truck is same. It has a 6x4 with Volvos new lift tandemaxle system. Loaders are a Volvo outboard clip and cat onboard. :)

Нагрузка на дорогу и мосты, чем длиннее и больше осей тем меньше нагрузки. По Скандинавии так едем.

And you have outback roads at the width of an international airport too. Ain't no roundabouts there! Ain't no fiat 500 driving like he stole the car and the 3 litres of fuel either! Cause lemme tell ya that... That piece of shit aren't big enough to be seen 10m in front of the truck even. This truck and trailer combo, are on public roads with weight, height and length regulations, operating in normal traffic. To f.ex Franzefoss to pick up gravel, and then haul it to the biggest railway project to this time in Norway, where he dumps it, and goes back out to do the same over and over again. The standard length of a Norwegian road train, has for many years been 22m. (18,5 on truck and trailer combo) A few years ago, they gave permission to use 25,25m road trains on Europe highway & and 18 (E6 & E18). In Sweden, 25,25m is the standard. Then we go to the northern parts of Sweden and Finland, close to the Russian border, and you'll almost see road trains like you have in AU, because these are mining trucks or timber trucks hauling huge loads on roads designed for it. But also, in the old days, those timber transports and those ore transports, were hauled by trains only, so we didn't need no roads to handle these weights. Take your road train to downtown melbourne, at sunset and you'll face the same issues as we got here probably. And also, the most of AU isn't like Swiss cheese, whether Oslo is. And many roads are built on clay ground, where the road is held up by pillars.
