The Vea Irrigation Dam is located in Vea, Bongo district near Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
Construction of the Vea project was started in 1965 and completed in 1980. It has a potential area of about 1197ha. The area developed is about 850ha with an irrigable area of about 468ha. The reservoir is fed by the Yarigatanga River.
Water is pumped from this dam to sustain agricultural activities in various communities including, but not limited to, Vea, Gowrie, Yorogo, Bongo, Nyariga, Bolgatanga, Zaare and Sumbrungu.
It also serve as source of water treated to supply the Bolgatanga municipality and it's proximity for domestic and commercial purposes
