VE Tuning on the Street

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this episode I attempt to tune my VE table at part and full throttle using HP Tuners on my Lowbuck LS Turbo Silverado.
I have my AEM 30-4110 wired in to the EGR circuit on my truck and I am logging the WBO2 error to make corrections to the VE table using the "Paste Special: Multiply by %" function.
The part throttle tuning went OK but the full throttle tuning didn't work out so well. I think I'm running into the limits of the stock fuel pump on this truck.
Here's a link to the video in which I show how I connected the wideband O2 gauge to be able to log it in HP Tuners: • AEM WBO2 Interfacing w...

    You're making really nice material for the new guys man. Way too few are doing that stuff in detail and in a way that makes it accessible. Too much "secret society" BS in our hobby. I can understand why a speed shop and engine builder will not divulge all their secrets, but too many regular guys treat the basic stuff as was it a matter of national security. Ace stuff, keep it up.

    Love ur street tuning vids mate helps people like me who mostly don’t have access to a dyno, one question tho are your main goals to get as close to 0 as possible? I see and hear a lot of people aiming for -2.0 % rich side, is it personal preference or does closer to 0 perform best? Doing mine currently and struggling a bit keeping it on rich side and fighting knock closer I try work table in, my table is a mess from factory so trying to build numbers in most areas just having hard time getting all cells to build numbers to then smooth in between. I’m in lambda. thanks mate

    Hey Randy, look into transient fueling for the tip in issues where you spike lean then it catches back up as soon as you are going WoT.

    I'm curious if the math used in the filter against TPS being greater than 1 can be used on any other GM platform. Like a 3800 for example. I have no way to disable dfco, and this looks like it might be a great alternative to help collect data that is smoothed, rather than it getting skewed with so much lean data.

    disable anything that adds fuel if youre tuning the ve table whether in maf or speed density... fuel trims add fuel so temporarily turn them off, then back on when youre done tuning.

    @LowbuckLS

    4 жыл бұрын

    matthew williams if you watch the section starting at about 4:43 in this video I talk about the filter function that only records data when the TPS is above 1%. If you enter what I have in the function box at that point in the video yours should do the same thing. If it isn’t clear I can make a quick video showing that in more detail.

    What injectors are you using?

  • @travispfannmuller7717
    @travispfannmuller77174 жыл бұрын

    Thats with stock decaps? I would think you're out of pump and the lines may be getting restrictive. Have you considered supplementing with meth? I think you mentioned you run 93 pump, meth would add some fuel and octane.

  • @LowbuckLS

    @LowbuckLS

    4 жыл бұрын

    Travis Pfannmuller yes my injectors are stock decapped truck injectors and I’m running 91 octane pump gas, we don’t have 93 around here. I think you’re probably right, I’m going to get a fuel pressure gauge to confirm that the issue is the pump/lines. Hadn’t considered the meth injection route, will probably upgrade the pump first and if that doesn’t solve the issue I’ll look into the meth injection thing.

    just drive it around for a bit while logging. lots of different throttle positions etc then write it. also your power enrichment needs to be increased for when it shifts and when you stab the throttle its lean. your not out of fuel just keep adding. your VE is above 100% bechause your using forced induction obviously your volumetric efficieny is higher because you can fit more air than NA
