I agree, Vax really should have made the dirty tank so that it could be opened for cleaning. The Dual V models are better in this respect because when the lid is removed, you have easy access to the dirty water tank to clean it thoroughly.

Steven Jones The rick is to go slow, much slower than regular vacuuming. Only apply the solution on the forward pass and release the trigger when you pull the machine back. Keep using dry passes until you can't see any more water coming up the front of the nozzle. Also make sure that the dirty water tank is properly located, because if it's slightly off, the machine will not suck up the dirty water properly.

It's done a very good job I love vax I got the cordless slim vax an the steamer

The tank does not come apart, I've tried. There are some screws but it is glued together so the only way I managed to clean mine is by putting some biological washing powder in the tank with some hot water and leaving it to soak. I then shook the tank vigorously and rinsed it out using the shower hose with the shower head removed. I managed to remove most of the dog hair that was trapped inside, but some still remained. Many carpet washer tanks are easier to clean like the Vax Dual V model V124A

Struggling to clean car hairs out of mine

Again, unless you have used a Vax carpet cleaner with Vax Ultra Solution and a Bissell with their solution, you cannot judge. I have used both and both solutions clean well. I prefer the choice of fragrances available from Bissell, but once the carpet has dried, the fragrance doesn't linger. The Vax in this demo definitely leaves the carpet drier than the Bissell Healthy Home deep cleaner that I have previously demonstrated.

Thanks, glad it was helpful. Just make sure the dirty tank is seated correctly as it's so easy to put it on slighly wrong, resulting in a loss of suction.

I don't know if you can help, my cleaner is hard to push...the wheels turn ok when upside down but when upright it really has a lot of friction...I've tried to spray on lubricant but no different and I can't find out how to remove the wheels either.

I've just used one of these in my rented flat. The carpets are old, dark brown and *stink*. The machine pulls tank upon tank , upon tank, of disgusting, brown water out of them but the water never gets any clearer (even cold rinses, so it's not carpet dye). A great machine, no doubt, but I suspect it has met its match here.

I'm desperate to ask a question but before I want to thank you for this video. I bought this carpet cleaner 8 months ago but struggle with the instruction so i never use it but with this video it was soooooo much easier. Question? I've just clean my carpet some bits are dry and other bits are wet. Is there something I need to do that I'm not doing Please help me how do I dry it????????

You dry it by going over the cleaned area slowly without squeezing the shampoo trigger until you can't see any more water coming up the clear nozzle at the front. If you have any more problems, ring the Vax helpline number which should be on your machine.

You can't judge how good a carpet cleaner is by watching Ideal World demos. They just want people to buy whatever model they have on air at the time and will not make comparisons with rival models from another manufacturer. I have a Bissell and I've owned several Bissells and they have their plus and minus points just like Vax and Hoover machines.

If this happens, empty the dirt water container, even if it's not very full. If the water in the dirty tank is very foamy, this foam can leak out of the machine but shouldn't be a cause for concern. I find this happening with my machine sometimes. If you put a capful of fabric conditioner in the dirty water tank, this helps to reduce excessive foaming. You can also buy defoamer from commercial cleaning supply companies online.

it's a good video my Vax rapide is not picking up just get lines . would putting more solution in the tank with the water cure the problem

I doubt putting more solution in would help. If it is not picking up I would suggest you check it's not blocked anywhere and all the seals are in place. If the removable filter at the back of the dirty water tank is missing or not in properly, then you'll have little or no suction. I would also check that the dirty tank is seated correctly because even when it's slightly off, the front of the nozzle doesn't make contact with the carpet.

I got a secondhand one....i used the attachment and it was working fine but when i moved the machine there was a big puddle of solution where the machine had been😕 What did i do wrong?🤷‍♀️ I sucked up the puddle using the machine no problem, but i don't want that happening every time i use the hose🙄 Anyone got any suggestions please 🙏

I have a very similar one. Mine is the W89-RU-A but it has the hose, pretreatment wand and is almost exactly the same as yours except the orange bits are red on mine

I sold this long ago, but it was a decent cleaner and dried the carpet very well. I don't collect carpet washers and tend to sell them when I buy a new model. I currently use a Bissell Deluxe, but I have recently upgraded to another Bissell which will be on my channel soon.

No, this is a wet carpet/upholstery cleaner and can not be used as a regular vacuum.

Download it online, you'll need it. Instead on mixing solutions in the main tank you are suppose to use a special pre-treatment solution for the spray, then rinse out the tank and do the main clean!

Supposed to shake it before fitting back?

You should work for VAX, mate!! You should get commission for promoting their product!! Their demo's are pants and should be much more in line with how you've presented this machine!! As I'm hoping to buy a second hand one of these, forewarned is forearmed to avoid any bull from the owner if things aren't working as they should be!! Cheers!!

Ciro Coleman Glad you found the demo useful. I have another video on my channel showing the Vax Rapide Ultra being used with the hose if you're interested. I find that manufacturer's videos will only point out the good points of their machines, where I like to point out both good and bad so people have all the information before deciding if they want to purchase a particular machine. I would love to get commission for all the vacs that people have bought after seeing a review of mine, but sadly all I've got is two cleaners donated to me by Vax, a Floormate Cordless and an Air Cordless, but it's better than nothing. I have since sold the Vax Rapide in this video to help pay for other cleaners to review, but I would buy another one as it left the carpet drier than any other carpet washer I have used. I hope the one you hope to get works well for you.

ibaisaic Thanks for taking the time out to reply. I've now bought a refurbished Vax Dual Power Total Home Carpet Washer, which should arrive today. Am looking forward to some clean carpets. The guy who was selling the one I was going to get gave every excuse under the sun not to let me see it working so I told him to shove where the sun don't shine!! . One other question to ask, which I'm sure you've been called upon to answer somewhere in your vid's. Do or have you ever used a home made detergent as some of the brand products are a tad expensive. If so, what's your 'recipe'?

Just given an unused vax. Stupid question probably? OK I see pressing the trigger on the handle releases a pressure switch so cleaning solution is jetted onto the carpet in the head of the machine. But what switches the pumped clean water out of the Orange nipple behind the dirty water tank? Yes I see the trigger on the little wand to spirt cleaning solution out of the mini wand, but what stops cleaning solution jetting out of the Orange nipple when the hose is not connected?

I’m not sure, but there must be some sort of valve that stops the solution coming out of the solution port when used in upright mode.

Great video. I have searched everywhere on a video on how to clean the dirty water tank. Mine is full of carpet fibres but even though there are screws in the edge of the tank it doesn't come apart. It would be great if you can tell me what to do. Thank you

The tank won’t come apart so it is impossible to get it properly clean. The best thing you can do is put a scoop of biological washing powder in the tank and top it up with hot water. Give it a thorough shake and leave it to soak. After a few hours, shake the tank again, empty out the water and give it a rinse.

SAFC MACKEM Firstly, this carpet washer leaves the carpet drier than any other I've used, providing you do not overwet the carpet. Only apply solution on the forward stroke and release the trigger while SLOWLY pulling the cleaner back. Make sure that the dirty water container is properly located or it will not pick up the solution properly. It is hard to say how much solution it will use as it depends on the carpet and how dirty it is, but a full sized bottle should do three or four average sized rooms. I personally would be wary of buying a second hand model as you don't know how much use it's had and it will have no guarantee. If you can afford it, a new one costs about £120 from many online retailers and you will get a full two year guarantee. If you go for the second hand model and there are no instructions, you can view them on Vax's website. I hope that helps.

Am very tempted to buy one of these but first can you tell me, where does the dirty water go, into the clean water tank and if so does that you have to release the solution across the whole room first? Otherwise you're releasing dirty water if you release and suck one section of the carpet at a time. I hope I'm making sense. I ask because I recently tried the Vax machine that has a separate tank for clean water and solution and one for dirty.

The dirty and clean tanks are totally seperate and the machine will only put down clean solution onto the carpet. The clean tank is situated on the handle and the dirty tank is at the base of the cleaner.

Thank you for replying, your explanation has alleviated any worries I had about the tanks. I know this was a Which best buy and funnily enough I've just watched you cleaning your mums carpet with VAX W85-PP-T Dual Power Pro which you also rated highly. Do you still think the Rapide Ultra 2 is better or would you recommend something else. By the way, thank you for posting all of these videos, they really are extremely helpful.

There is only one filter that needs to be cleaned and I show it in the video. You only need to rinse it with water or simply remove any fluff by hand.

What the different between Vax W90-RU-B Rapide Ultra Upright Carpet and Upholstery Washer and ultra 2?

+Sandra Letzz play I believe the Ulta 2 has a slightly more powerful motor and comes with the pre treatment spray attachment.

Great video, but you didn't say what you did during the washing - when do you pull the trigger in the handle? When you go forwards, backwards or both?

I've heard there can be problems with the brush bar not rotating as it's not driven very powerfully - have you come across this? Hard to tell if it is or not as you can't see it when it's in position on the carpet obviously.

+dopiaza2006 I never had any problems with this machine when I owned it. The brush is belt driven, so the effectiveness of the brush roll can be reduced if the belt has stretched. Replacement belts are easy to get hold of.

I don't understand the difficulty in cleaning the filter. It is a small black sponge in an orange frame that simply lifts out from the back of the dirty water tank. I couldn't remove the fluff properly as I was holding a camcorder in one hand but when not filming, the filter is easy to remove, clean and replace. If you still can't manage this, go to Vax's website and download the user manual.

Bleach the bastard thing then suck up heave bleach water out of a tank and leave for a little while the do the same with some fabric softener

The cleaner is slightly easier to push than pull, but the brushes do not help propel the machine in any way.

This Vax only washes carpets and upholstery, it can not be used as a dry vacuum cleaner. Vax do a tub style 3 in 1 that can be used as a dry vacuum, but you would be better off getting an upright carpet washer and a separate vacuum cleaner. Bissell also do a cylinder type machine called the Hydroclean that vacuums, washes floors and shampoos carpets and upholstery, but it is very cumbersome and tiring to use. At the moment I do not know of an upright style carpet washer that can be used as a regular vacuum, but you never know, a manufacturer may have one in the pipeline.

Yo what will happen if you don't vacuum the floor and just wash it? Is it bad? Fam explain

Yes, it's bad! The filter will get blocked, the machine might overheat and lose suction. It won't work well.

You didn't explain in the demo that you only squeeze trigger in its forwards motion

You should use Vax branded solutions for best results, but if you can't get it you should use a low foaming solution designed for wet extraction type carpet washers and dilute it according to the instructions on the bottle.

You can't take it apart I'm afraid so you will never get it 100% clean. My tip is to put a scoop of biological washing powder inside and fill it with hot water, give it a good shake (outside) and leave it to soak overnight. The next day rinse out the tank and you should find it's a lot cleaner.

+TheLennon1250 I don't own this machine anymore, but from what I remember you can't dismantle the dirty water tank to clean it properly. What you could do is get some biological washing powder or tablet, put it in the tank and fill it with very hot (not boiling) water. Take it outside or hold it over the bath and shake it vigorously to help dislodge the dirt. Then leave it to soak overnight before emptying it and rinsing it out. To clean the nozzle area, just soak the whole tank in water containing bio powder deep enough to submerge the nozzle. Rinse and dry after soaking. This probably won't restore the tank to new looking, but it should remove the majority of the dirt.

* You are meant to spray tougher stains with a Vax pre-treatment fluid (40ml per 1L also). (1 bottle came inside mine, along with 2 of the main fluid). You spray it on the stain, rinse out the tank, then use the main fluid as normal. Pre-treating with the main fluid would surely do little more than go cold. It's hard to judge the Vax is when you mix other brands into the tank, and Vax do say don't do that. Better just to do a proper pre-treatment surely? * Water is 40 deg max (hot not scolding)

I had to buy 4 of these and took them all back as all of them leaked from the bottom
