I got mine for 200 off argos used it for like 30 mins an it cleaned my carpet really well

its amazing, best ive ever bought...had it for two years now, if youve pets, kids or just like to keep things clean it really is so quick and easy and gets the carpets looking fantastic.

Can I just add my positive experience please. I purchased mine from Argos one year and three weeks after there was a problem with it. Obviously Argos did would not help as out of warranty, but I did register for the six year warranty. I reported it via their web chat online portal on the Friday evening and not expecting it to be a positive experience. BUT.. I was called on the Sunday and a pickup was arranged for the Monday. The communications was superb and a brand new one was delivered the following Sunday. The customer experience was in my opinion the best I have had. Yes it failed, but I have previously had a Bissell hot wash and rug doctor and so did those fail. I went with the Vax for the six year warranty and so pleased I did and would recommend it to anyone for ease of use and performance. Just to remember to register for the six year warranty. Well done Vax....

Thank you for the review. It tea helped me understand how to use it. I just bought one. I wasn’t too sure which one to buy. But it does look a bit similar like.

Looks like I found a bargain then. Bought used from Facebook Marketplace for £75. Used twice. Even has 1 original detergent bottle with it (which I know wont be enough - I also bought some extra's on Amazon). Going to blitz the house this weekend. Thanks for the instructional upload.

Use the dry only mode switch on the hoover and just go over the area a couple of times and it will be pretty much dry. The carpets look lovely btw. 👌🏻

I’ve got this carpet cleaner, but I must have the model before yours as I have to pull the solution tank out to put the shampoo in and it leaks sometimes when I’m using the machine, so looks like they’ve upgraded it so don’t have to pull it out maybe they had complaints if other peoples was leaking the same

Bought mine this afternoon. Well chuffed. I got an Easter deal and only paid £199. But bought the big bottle of Antibacterial solution too, so £239.

Thanks for the video. That’s a relabeled “Hoover SmartWash Automatic Carpet Cleaner” without the pretreatment wand. I have the Hoover with the pretreatment wand. Good rug cleaner. Recommended.

How well does it do against dog, and cat messes because I'm cautious about going over dog poop when my dog accidentally poops in the house when she should be taken outside?

Great review, seriously considering one for our toddler stained carpet! How much does the solution cost and quickly did you use those 2 sample bottles? Did you use both for lounge and hall?

Hi, Sorry for the delayed reply. The Vax solution is expensive, 5L bottle is about £30 i think.... the 2 sample bottles would probably do my whole downstairs 4-5 times i would guess.

Does the hose/small head, which I presume for stairs and rugs/small space, also have the option to dry? Or is it just the main unit. I've seen one £190 but I have 4 flights of stairs + 3 landings that's carpeted with 3 teenage lads and two dogs up n down. I'd like to clean more than once a year. Every spring a pro cleaning company does it and not impressed with dry time. Plus also use it for the car 😊 1 year on is it still cleaning to satisfaction?

Hi there - No the hose attachment doesn't have a warm/dry mode like the main unit, just the usual suction. I literally just used it this weekend before we had guest round for a BBQ and still going strong! You can set it in 'dry only' mode and the drying time is less than 1 hour.

I think they were Farrow and Ball Ammonite. (I have redecorated since and cant remember!)

Would you be able to let me know how much solution is used please? E.g. if the solution tank is filled, how many clean water tanks full will that do? Many thanks.

I'd say probably 250ml cleans my whole house, so it is quite economical

You attach at the base of the unit - is quite easy once you have seen the instructions.

They're VERY LOUD. Ear plugs are a strong recommendation.

After wash with solution do you have to rinse it to?

YES…..you should DEFINITELY rinse a carpet after shampooing. Imagine leaving shampoo in your hair and towel drying it….or doing your washing and not rinsing it!! I rinse my carpets TWICE after shampooing. You would be AMAZED at how much dirt comes out with the rinses!! The dirty water tank shows alarming results!! Yeah…it takes longer to do your carpet shampooing session - but SO worth it….so RINSING IS REQUIRED. Pop some ZOFLORA or fabric conditioner in the large water tank to leave a lovely smell in your carpet for the final rinse. Hope this helps. Teddy U.K.

Greggy, thanks very much for this excellent review, much appreciated. Regarding the warranty, how many times have you had a 1 year warranty and a week outside of it, something goes wrong. I had that with my Dyson V15 vacuum cleaner 10 days outside of warranty, BUT after asking customer service to send an engineer which I was happy to pay for, Incredibly DPD arrived the next day, picked it up and gave me another brand new one at the same time, even without checking it out first. So 6 years is an incredible warranty. My Vax Platinum Smartwash arrived yesterday and I won't use it until next week as I've only just vacuumed 2 days ago, but with my Dyson V15 vacuuming prior to using the Vax Platinum Smartwash, I already believe the combination is going to give me outstanding results. Many thanks and much appreciated. Just scratching my head on the pet tool, I assume if our not so great vacuum cleaner doesn't pick pet hair up so well, we use this instead?

Usually yes! but only because its new carpet and my wife is a neat freak 😂

Sadly having a nightmare with this machine…kept thinking it was a faulty batch and tried THREE same models, two from John Lewis and one from online JL. Problem is the machine is NOT SUCKING UP THE DIRTY WATER. The hand held attachment does suck up!! Had limited success by sealing the ‘floppy’ flap (where you connect the hand held hose) With gaffa tape!!! Not ideal and still not working all the time. John Lewis interestingly said they had one returned just before mine with the same problem. After two emails to Vax, a rather patronising reply saying I should look at the u tube video re assembly and take it back to store (Again)! Also commenting the dryer only works when the handle is downward (as if I didn’t know that!!) After unpacking this machine THREE TIMES , spending 1/2 hour troubleshooting with Natalie at Vax, who ended by suggesting I should take it back to JL. John Lewis tend to say the problem is with Vax as they have no way of testing the fault!! SO STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND ! Watch this space.

You shampoo carpets for hygiene reasons as well as to get it clean! Bacteria resides in carpet fibres. Who wants little kiddies rolling around on dirty carpets?? I could see a nice difference in the before and after here. The Vax got rid of those food stains and traffic stains. Besides, it’s best to not leave a carpet too long before you shampoo it….that is…don’t let it get too grubby before shampooing. I do a quick shampoo, then Rinse, every 2-3 months and my carpet comes up like new.
