Vax Platinum Power Max Carpet Washer Unboxing & Demonstration

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I unbox, assemble and demonstrate the Vax Platinum Power Max carpet washer. After assembling the machine, I show all the accessories included and highlight the main features of this carpet washer. I then demonstrate it's cleaning ability on a pet stained carpet.
I purchased this carpet washer myself so it’s a non sponsored video. I pay for the majority of items I show on my channel. In the event I received an item free, I always state that in the first minute of the video.

40ml of solution to a litre of water, the tank holds 3.5litres so thats 140ml, not the whole bottle which is 250ml

I really don’t know how many times I need to explain this but here I go again. This machine has AUTOMIX which means you do not have to measure out the quantity of solution. I know that Vax states the dilution rate on the bottle, but that is for Vax machines that do not have the separate solution tank. Read all the many comments below for clarification. If you want to dilute the solution and add it it the small tank, it’s up to you, but that means the cleaner will be diluting solution that has already been diluted. The whole point of machines with automix is you do not have to measure out the solution. The machine will automatically mix the neat solution with the water during use unless you move the dial to rinse where it will only put down water with no solution mixed in it.

Doesn't Roger literally debunk this very point in the video at 13:44? 🤔 The exception seems to be if you're using a machine with the *Automix* technology. Anyhoo, I'm sure Roger will accept your apology. 😆

  • @nmg196

    @nmg196

The machine does the dilution for you on the fly hence "AutoMix". Is that really such a difficult concept to understand?! That's the whole reason why the cleaning fluid tank is separate! He's NOT putting the cleaning fluid into the water tank - it has it's own separate tank.

Very helpful video, thank you. The reason so many people get the solution mixing wrong is that there are conflicting instructions in the instruction booklet and on the cleaning solution bottles. The booklet states "Pour the required amount of carpet solution into the tank" while the label on the back of the Platinum Professional Solution says "Pour 40ml of solution into the clean water tank of your machine and top up with 1 litre of warm water" which is demonstrably incorrect. VAX should have QA'd their leaflet and labeling to prevent this confusion.

Gary retired carpet cleaner. You demonstrated this brilliantly, I am a retired Professional Carpet And Upholstery cleaner looking to buy a domestic carpet cleaner as my old equipment is for to heavy for me now. You did the cleaning in your socks, I would like to point out that this is a very good practice as trainers and most carpet slippers give off black marks when you walk over the wet carpet after cleaning. I always wore trainers with WHITE soles and only buy WHITE sole carpet slippers. When you tried to fit the hose had you wet the rubber 0 rings it could have been easier. I was thinking of Buying this machine but was very disappointed with the amount of dirty water it had recovered given the shortness of the carped pile. so will check other manufactures now.

Yes, the extraction is poor unfortunately, meaning it's leaving a lot of dirty water behind, which rather seems to defeat the object of cleaning one's carpet. Roger did a demo of Bissell's *Big Green Cleaning Machine* a while back, and I thought the extraction on that far superior to the Vax Platinum, if you've not yet plumped for a new machine... It's that, or use a separate wet and dry style 'shop vac' just for the extraction...

Maybe yes, maybe no. The Bissell drives me crazy with its small waste tank - what's the point of only being able to suck up less than you can put on? Also, several other points i don't like with the Bissell. The Bissell X2 PHR has a very silly spray which dribbles out a miserable stream of fluid mix - quite useless, whereas the VAX has a decent spray of pure formula. Also the Bissell does not pick up much of the liquid.

I’ve just bought this and am not very happy with it. The plastic at the front doesn’t touch the carpet hence it’s not sucking up the water. It took my carpet 2 days to dry even though I went over it many many times. I found the only way to get the water to suck up properly I’d to lean my hand or my foot onto the top of the front plastic bit. Also. You can’t clean the brush area properly afterwards. Dirt gets stuck in the brush but that you can’t reach.

Make sure the front nozzle is properly attached as it’s very easy to put it on wrong and sometimes they are not fitted properly at the factory. I did show in the video that it was very poor at sucking up the water. If you are able to return it, I would.

There is no clip, you just have to pull the Spinscrub brushes out by holding both sides and pulling firmly. I’m sure it will show you what to do in the instruction book but I can’t try it myself as I sold this machine soon after I made the video.

Hi just bought the vax machine and its a very helpful video , but I have to question the amount of cleaner you say to use........ the bottle says mix 40ml with a litre of water.........I put approx 200ml of the small bottle of cleaner (250ml) that comes with the machine into the top water cannister, and put it on quick clean...so put about 2 litres of water in....I then spent 15 minutes or so cleaning the hall carpet and before all the water had disappeared the cleaning fluid had gone... So thats 200 ml in 2 liters of water which is 100 ml per litre......2 and a half times more than that recommended. I feel if I had put 250ml in that would have gone as well....should I not have put 80 ml of cleaner in the machine? EVERY other video on KZread says put 40ml for each litre you put in the machine...It will be very costly if you fill the cleaner section aand it is used at this rate.....for a deep clean it would have used half a litre of cleaner solution.....is that correct?

  • @ibaisaic

Every other KZread video that says put 40ml of water per litre is wrong. The 40ml per litre of water is printed on the Vax solution bottles, but it does not apply to machines using the automix function. If the machine has automix with a small separate tank for the cleaning solution, you pour the solution in neat. It gets diluted automatically with the clean water as you use the machine. I have explained this countless times under all my videos of Vax carpet washers that have automix. I have checked the instructions and for this carpet washer they say to pour the required amount of cleaning solution into the solution tank. There is no mention of diluting the solution first. The instructions also state that any unused solution can be poured back into the bottle, so obviously it means neat solution. If you poured diluted solution back into the bottle, it would be further diluted when you used it again. Vax need to make this clear in the instructions that it is neat solution that goes into the solution tank on automix models. This Vax is very greedy on solution so it is normal that you will have to keep refilling the solution tank, especially when using it on the deep clean mode. If you want to follow the dilution rate on the bottle, then mix the solution in with the clean water and don’t use the automix function, though when used in this way, you can’t use the rinse feature unless you refill the clean water tank with water only. I have used many carpet washers on my channel that have an automix function and in every one, you put the solution into the automix solution tank neat. Only follow the dilution rate on the Vax solution bottle when using a Vax or another brand of carpet washer that does not have an automix function.

Yes I understand putting the solution in neat, but you said put the whole 250ml bottle in the solution tank which I did thinking any unused can be emptied back in the botttle. But I was only cleaning a short hall way carpet and 15 mins later the solution tank was empty but there was still half of the original water in the tank. So I used 250ml of solution in only 1 or 2 litres of water...in other words the solution was mixing at much much more than the recommended 40ml per litre maybe thats why other videos are saying if there is 2 litres of water in the tank then put 80ml of neat solution in the solution part of the tank, otherwise you will end up using all 250ml... it would appear when it mixes, it doesnt mix at 40ml per litre

@@philipcoates9185 The auto mix system is not sophisticated and is unable to detect how much water you have put in the clean tank. In future I suggest filling the water tank to the max fill line and discard any unused water.

@@ibaisaic OK I understand all that...how do you limit the amount of solution used....If it is going to use 250ml of solution with only a couple of litres of water then it is going to be a very very very expensive way of cleaning a carpet....if there is nothing to limit the amount and flow of the solution then it will be much much cheaper to mix the solution as described on the bottle, 40ml per litre and pour direct into the container and not use the rinse function which would need pure water...crikey this stuff isnt cheap at £22 for 1.5 ltrs

@@philipcoates9185 There is no way to limit the amount of solution used. I have found all carpet washers with an auto mix system to be very greedy with solution. As you say, the best way to avoid using too much solution is to dilute it per the directions on the bottle and put it in the clean water tank. For lightly soiled carpets, you could use less solution, say 30ml per litre.

I feel as though you are moving the machine a bit too quickly. When i use mine, I pull it back ultra slowly, giving the brushes a lot of time to agitate and also the machine more time to extract water. I feel like when using that method, it removes a LOT more water from the carpet. Also, i know i shouldnt have to do it, but i put a small amount of pressure on the top of the brushes with my foot, thus creating a better seal on rhe carpet. That twinned with pulling it back VERY slowly helps to extract a lot more water.
