Egr valve potentially cracked as mine had the same problem had it blanked off then no more problems

I personally believe it's the globe plugs i have a problem with mine it takes it's time to start. I haven't got them changed yet. vauxhall (diesel) they say service them 12000 miles i had vauxhalls always service mine at 6000 miles. just change oil, oil filter and air filter. Remember the eg valve the shut from the eg valve mixes with your engine oil that's where it reduces it's emissions the oil gets these particles inside and clogs up the small tiny holes where engine oil goes through. my car runs beautifully

the globe blugs? did you checked that with the labdod?

I had the same problem in the Astra with the same engine I diagnosed the problem to be the weak starter motor I checked it started first time

Hi. It has had a full service. In fact that was my first thought when it started as it was due a service so I had it done. It didn’t help 🙁🙁 Thanks for your suggestion though.

My one has the same problem, but it’s only the 120 version steadily getting worse, I’m going to try the coolant sensor and cam shaft sensor as they are fairly simple to get too. The glow plugs on these are not easy to get to and I don’t have any error codes for them so they are probably ok. Some people mention the bottom cam pulley cam wear and slop causing sensor timing issues that will stop the ecu from firing it up.

ye ye reetgard.. cam sensor behind camshaft. timing belt romoval necessary.

does glow plugs change here help ??? i got same promlem with my opel start engine ... i think need put new glow plugs ...

Definate Glow plugs mine did the exact same thing now starts strat away

My Car is doing the same thing now and it is definitely the glow plugs, I'm hoping to get mine done soon before the cold weather comes and the snow again

It's in get you home mode, get codes read, sounds to me like a clogged EGR VALVE or DPF clogged, if DPF clogged and can't be cleaned you are looking at a very hefty bill for new DPF, GET IT TO THE GARAGE NOW.

Camshaft sensor need to be replaced, og when u changed the timing belt there should be metal sticking out to that give signal to camshaft sensor is binding, or broken.

UPDATE on my car the glow plugs were faulty two of them were not working so I would get them done. My car was running very ruff as well. Hope you get your car sorted soon

not sure why when there's an issue with a diesel people shout glow lugs.. if they knew what they did and for how long and how a diesel engine works you'd realise you don't even need glow plugs..!! that to me i would be looking at the MAF, and the MAP and also the boost solenoid switch on the clutch pedal, all interconnecting turbo related pipes also. up to 3k rpm and no more is boost solenoid related, limp mode removes the turbo boost pressure all together (although it always spins just no actuator) that last minute struggle then boom i recall a MAF sensor doing the same, EGR only works for around five minutes before it shuts off, but that's not to say the inlet housing isn't full of carbon (recirculated exhaust gas) to be sure if the car puffs out black smoke under load like up a hill or changing down gears then clean out the EGR and the housing, ideally blank it off or delete it as you don't need an EGR for a diesel and they don't do anything to the emissions, it's a quick start up device like water heater plugs..pointless and just something else that can go wrong.

🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴😂😂😂😂😂 Are you serious? Do you even know what EGR does for emissions? It's not a quick start up device at all. It's purpose is to reduce combustion temperature which in turn reduces NOx emissions from the exhaust, even modern 2021 diesels still use it as well as adblu and SCR. Next you will be saying they are bullshit and not needed 🤦🤦.

Try to wait for fuel pump to stop then try to crank the engine.

Hi mate I’ve got a 2007 1.9cdti 8v 120 Bhp mine started doing this a bout 8 months ago kept bringing up cam shaft sensor fault obviously because the car wouldn’t start so I’ve changed the cam sensor crank sensor fuel filter and then took the car too Vauxhall in desperation and frustration for them to diagnose a key way problem on the crank shaft pulley ! £250 worth might i add and guess what after a week it started doing the same thing again ! I argued with them it was a fuel issue because it was starting with easy start and they didn’t even check the fuel pressure because i didn’t ask them too ! So I’d keep your money mate and go to a local mechanic at half the price and get them to check fuel pressure and and possibly leak test . I’ve ordered a non return fuel valve because I’ve heard of fuel running back into the tank when the cars have been left sitting for a while .my problems are all cold related starting issues ie in the morning ! Hope this helps

Mine had only 2 glow plugs working...got them done! Didnt fix the problem for cold mornings! Apparently ecu needs reseting & software needs upgrading. Which is my next move!!

It has absolutely nothing to deal with the glow plugs. Take the engine cover off, towards the back of the engine you have the inlet manifold. There's is a rod that's supposed to sit on top of this to control the air flow to allow maximum efficiency with air and fuel mixture. You'll probably find that the rod has fallen off the flaps. I had the same issue. I cleaned up around the rods with break cleaner brought a new rod for £20 off Amazon the cars runs great! The car struggles and smokes a lot between 2.5 and 3000 rpm. This is because the fuel mixture is too rich and can't be burned without the right amount of air. The rod is tricky to fit but if you have 2 pairs of long nose pliers this should do the job. Just be sure to remove the glow plugs first. Pull them out as straight as possible to ensure no damage is caused. It's a 20 minute job without having to remove anything too serious. After this I'd suggest sitting there reving the car at about 4000 rpm for at least 2 minutes to clear out the DPF due to all the unburnt fuel clogging up through the exhaust system

hi, yes he found out that it was an EGR falt and a butterfly nut as well There was some flat spots that were also fixed but he chosed to have a new timing belt fited but was not required. there is an update video on his channel

My dads Zafira is playing up right now. Some days it’s starts up perfect other days it’s a bugger to start (won’t turn over) but starts eventually. After driving for a bit it loses speed and cuts out plus It hardly makes it up the hills, sometimes it won’t make it up the hill. Tonight they was driving home (about 10 miles drive) and the car just completely stopped and wouldn’t start at all so they call recovery. Anyone know what it could be? The car is a Vauxhall Zafira 2003 1.8 automatic

Random Upload definite glow plugs, easy to change ... You can get a good set for 30-40 quid. They are a wear item

I had the same.problem on.my astra h 1.9 cdti 120 horsepower I.changew the glow plugs But after few days the problem was back again. After that i was at a specialist he said starter and he had right problem was the startee Now after 2 months and 2000'km no problems.

To all of you suffering with this problem is the main thing you have to make sure of is make sure your battery is fully charged, there is a very large demand on the battery more so at this time of year, But this car needs EGR clearing out and clear any fault codes then take it for a good thrashing for half an hour to clean the DPF out, charge the battery while cleaning out the EGR.

Changed the battery & glow plugs!...still doesn't start cold mornings!! Turns over a few times ...then drains battery instantly?!? Apparently ecu needs reseting & software needs upgrading, which will be my next move.

@@markyoung3118 if it is draining, take it back and get it checked out.g your battery that quick it sounds like you have a faulty battery.

Георги Георгиев I have the same problem - the first ignition attempt fails, but the second one is successful after 5 seconds of turning the key. It occurs when the temperature is above 10 degrees or when the engine is re-ignited. Is it possible, at some intermediate temperature (10-20 deg C), not to let the glow plugs on ? Може и на български ; )
