Vauxhall Vivaro Camper Van Conversion - Episode 3 - Decking, Layout, Framing & Cupboards!

Welcome to episode 3 of my camper van conversion. In this episode I get stuck into attaching some decking to the roof rack. After that I needed to do some panning so I laid out the floor plan in masking tape and began building a side unit. After that I started work on some overhead cupboards.

Nice looking build, luv the roof deck. Think you may want to have the gas bottle in a locker with a drop out vent 🤔 Cheers 🍻

Nearly, actually a plug in unit with 12v charger and usb slots, only temporarily fitted so I could cut the hole to the right size!

Hey, not sure how you're getting on with your van. But that insulation is a deffo no no. I used the same stuff for the same money saving reason coming from the building trade myself. Turns out this type of insulation and metal don't like eachother. The insulation holds on to way too much moisture. I had mine in for about 2 months from end of winter. When I took it out it was literally soaking, mouldy and causing rust. So maybe consider checking yours before you're sleeping In a mould shack

Hey, thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I’m way past that now and the van is finished. I actually used this exact same insulation in my old van that I had for 5 years and never had any problems. So I just re used the same stuff, so I guess it could be hit and miss. But I will definitely take that on board for next time. Thanks for watching

deffo not good having the gas bottle near your batteries. The risk of explosion if the bottle leaks would be a real safety issue and invalidate your insurance should that happen. Better to have the bottle away from the batteries as far as you can with at least a 2 inch drop out vent. You're doing a great job of the conversion though. Bessy regs-Kenny

@@rolyfoster697 deffo dont have it near the batteries for sure. its a recepie for disaster if you have a leaky gas bottle and short circuit...better to be safe than sorry. Peronally Id have put the batteries under your bed.

Hi mate, this van is a lwb, I think it’s around 30cm deep, and the overhead units are a bit smaller maybe 20m. Will need to check for the exact size
