Why not give the slider pins a cleaning any way. Also take the top of the brake fluid tank or slacken off the bleeder valve before pushing the piston back.

I agree you can and should do what you have mentioned preferably but for any of my subscribers who are new to mechanics or 1st timers it will be more complicated but will do it on next brake pads replacement video thanks

@@jaysworkshopgarage It kill me, to drive my vauxhall astra 2.0 J CDTI without cleaning her entirely. This video however had helped me, also l always use brown copper grease, for four edges of brake pads before sliding them in. I believe this will avoid the squeaks, had trouble with former mechanics before not installing copper grease and got me lot of issues with rust on my old disc and noise slowly progressing to becoming violently annoying. This made me mad, and decided to take up in my own time changing my disc and pads also regularly servicing them after month of wear. Between you and l, l know that many garages leave the cleaning also copper grease because they expect you to be back and will make more money off you. I believe all drivers should maintain their own vehicles, or if disabled use someone like family or a friend that they can trust to do it for them rather than garages and learn how to change parts also clean parts themselves. It not rocket science, it common knowledge lol.

@@carenthusiast4254 Your absolutely correct but only thing is with some of the new pads they come with a thin metal plate on the back of each pad which eliminates rust issues and squeeking hence why you don’t need to cooper grease the back of all brake pads these days

Hi okay, 1/2 Drive Ratchet and all the following socket sizes must also be 1/2 drive 👍🏽. 17mm socket for the wheel nuts. WD40 Spray. 10mm Socket/Spanner. Pry bar or Flat head screwdriver. Bungee Cord. 18mm Socket/Spanner. Torx bit screwdriver set. Wire Brush. Copper Grease. Brake Cleaner Spray. Brake Piston Rewind Tool. Good luck hope this information helps.

When you press piston back be aware fluid level rising in reservoir..rears cannot be pushed back they need to rotate at same time, one side clockwise other anti.

@@mattbullock7922 Yes simple as that just remember to give a good clean and use high temperature grease to help the pads slide good luck

I changed my pads as per this video and am getting a lot of squeaking from the brakes. I didn't put copper grease in the clip where the pads sit. Would that be why?

@@jaysworkshopgarage Cheers. I get my pads from Euro Car Parts so should be fairly good. Bit of copper grease on the pad where it makes contact with the piston, and in the clips seems to have done the trick.

G Clamp or you can wedge back with a flat screw driver before you undo the calliper

Reckon I could do this in work without the wind back tool, just the pry bars here? Failing that got some hydraulic spreaders if worst came to worst?

Yh while the old pads are still in you can wedge the piston back with a pry bar or long flat screwdriver but be careful not to score the face of the disc 👍🏽

@@jaysworkshopgarage am having a bash at changing the bushings on are Vauxhall Astra SXI MK5 going to be fun was quoted about £75 plus parts an cost of tool. My thinking is the garage to have a bushing tool any way so sod it am doing it. Am from electromechanical background. Also fixing TVs amps video players with 1 million cogs and gears. I did the disk brakes and shoes. All OK the cars stops were it should.

@@jaysworkshopgarage am in the UK the tool cost about £37. The bushings about £45. Am dropping the springs out pivoting the axle supporting on two stands an pushing it out. If I can re build a industrial hand blender that was brought to me in a bag of bits. I can sort out a metal cylinder with a rubber bung with a hole in it and s metal pin going threw it. I have fitted clutches on land rovers starter motors second battery's with contactors. And re build video recorders mech units. I can not afford to pay out as not in work. I say get a book and read look at the pictures also the internet is always good well some of the time.
