Just did this on a Zafira A. (Same dash and radio). If you remove the cradle to put in something else, if you use an ISO adapter off the original connectors, you may find that the connectors will stop the new radio pushing in far enough to lock into the new cradle. Easiest way to deal with this is to remove the passengers side floor shroud and the glovebox so you can juggle the connectors through the gap the cables come through behind the radio. And be aware that the antenna connector is a Euro one, so you need an adapter for most modern units AND it's very fragile, it broke on mine and I had to solder in a standard plug instead. Looks like an easy job using adaptor cables, but it was a five hour PITA in practice.

If those tabs are pushed in it should slide out. I have seen a lot of crazy stuff over the years so it could be anything preventing it coming out. I would check that it has the ability to wiggle a little. It might have been glued in. If you remove the glovebox you can access the side and behind the radio and see what's going on. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question.

Hi there - I don't need to remove the radio but I need to access the little screen above the vents above the radio. It has been pushed into the space behind and I need to get at it to push it back in to whatever is attaching it to the console. Can you help?

  • @killawattgarage

To get to that screen you need to remove the entire centre black section. It's easy enough ........ From memory there are some screws above the ashtray behind a small trim that pops out, I also take out the storage box under the air controls. The radio does need to come out as the are some screws in there. The centre piece is held by a clip at the above the vents that just pops off. Also the aircon controls unclip from the plastic trim and the clips can be accessed once the trim is loose. The screen is screwed to the trim and typically this is where it's broken. I have done a few 'make shift repairs' but the best system I have found is to (without removing the trim) get a suction cup and hold the screen is place and use some Expanda Foam behind the screen. You can access it by removing the speedo or I think by removing the glovebox. Hope these suggestion help out. Also do a few google searches as this is a common problem and I am sure would be mentioned on some forums. Thanks for the comment

You won't get an aftermarket radio with the same plug. Google "Aerpro ISO adaptors" and find one that fits the astra and the brand of radio you buy. Thanks for the question.
