    Great diagnosis Gary and a job well done. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make these videos, goes a long way to show it’s not just a case of “plug the car in and it’ll tell you what’s wrong”

    Surprising that the turbo wastage wasn't set up correctly, I'll have to remember that one. Great video mate 👍

    Thank you for another great case well worth the wait. Like you say if the customer had come to you or a competent garage first could of probably been sorted for a couple of hundred quid.

    Great video as always. Thorough diagnosis and always using the ‘prove the fault’ principle. It’s a shame this level of attention isn’t with dealers or even some aftermarket garages. But having worked in a few, you get lambasted if you try this kind of diagnosis workflow. Keep sharing the videos, they are thoroughly interesting. Cheers 👍

    The best way to be thorough is to have your own garage. Time spent overcoming resistance to real diagnosis is wasted time.

    Thanks Gary, quality content as always. Proved the old wisdom "buy cheap, buy twice". Especially with a clear decline in aftermarket part quality.

    At least the customer didn't have to buy a new genuine DPF, they had the sense to hang on to the original parts - unfortunately probably had to send the old turbo as core surcharge. It's one of my first questions to customers that say they've changed multiple parts... "where are the old ones?" NEW is an acronym for Never Ever Worked. Cheap parts aren't tested in the factory.

    New = Never Ever Works 😝. Unfortunately customers have forced the race to the bottom so indeed, buy cheap buy twice. Certain parts are just best replaced with OE.

    That's an eye opening illustration of why integration of an aftermarket turbo might not play nice with the wastegate electronic controls by the computer. You can see why a slight variance in arm reach and swing would cause a relative change in how far the actuator has to move. I'm a little surprised that this wasn't dealt with by the mechanic who installed the turbo, but perhaps they tried and couldn't fix it. Or maybe the update and reflash exposed a problem that wasn't detected before.

    My old 2012 insignia 2.0cdti when I sold it it had covered over 515k with genuine engine, gearbox injectors, DPF, filter glow, plugs, EGR valve, radiator, intercooler, turbo, turbo pipes, there anything that was ever changed was a cam belt and water pump 5 times clutch and flywheel three times suspension components brakes and tyres. It was used as a motorway airport transfer car only ever used shell diesel and Castrol engine oil which was changed every 8000 miles with Mann service parts. I love that car I now have a BMW5 series 2018. I would have my insignia back any day of the week

    This shows why you go to a reputable company company for turbos. We have used one company for the last 20 years , they are certainly not the cheapest , but you get straight forward answers , I.e. yes we can rebuild and recalibrate your customers turbo after assessment or no , a new unit is required. We have never had a duff turbo or actuator (electronic or vacuum). I have seen ones from Ebay where when shaken the actuator rod rattles ! , some the impeller was stiff to turn and the nut holding it on tacked with weld. If you fit this crap it will come back and the supplier will always say the garage fitted it incorrectly , did not prime it, or clean out feed and return oil pipes. Buyer beware

    Just a quick question. What is inside the DPF system and can it be removed. Yes yes yes it is illegal to do this. Please help us to understand better about DPF. If you can get a scrapped old one and open it up to show us, would be awesome. Furthermore, if for some chance someone did this. What would happen should it be fitted to the said correct car. I am just curious. I have been scammed before.

    I’ll see what I can do but I don’t condone deleting any system from a vehicle.

  • @jasonputtock4428

    @jasonputtock4428

    Жыл бұрын

    @@intelligentauto737 I do fully agree. I am almost certain people are deleting the internals to bypass this issue. With DPF it is practically certain to bawls up the system deliberately. Causing more payouts. I know mine should have a DPF, it had the tech. Until I cut off the wiring and chased through the van, guess what. It was not connected to anything at all. Just bound up into a tiny knot.

  • @jasonputtock4428

    @jasonputtock4428

    Жыл бұрын

    @A. Melbs the wiring was present but the DPF is missing. The wiring under the car was bundled up and connected to nothing. So I cut the entire loom out. Never had any issues at all. I am not a computer nerd or mechanic just know what I have seen.

  • @jasonputtock4428

    @jasonputtock4428

    Жыл бұрын

    @A. Melbs This is why im asking about the deletion. As far as I know, adblue is BS liquid and added costs. To refine petrol costs more and pollutes more than just regular diesel. Yet Diesel cost more at the pumps. Ask yourself why. Only the real coal rollers that deliberately stack their tailpipes with black smoke paint diesel a bad picture. I was a bus driver - now a trucker. All I ever see is lie upon lies upon lies made and claimed but the governments. This applies to everything. EV cars are worse than any other production car made - cost vs pollution - vs green - vs economical.

  • @jasonputtock4428

    @jasonputtock4428

    @A. Melbs What i also find incredible is the thought of new cars are more economical than older cars. This is further from the truth. I have been checking some real basic data for smaller cars. Most common was the opel = vauxhall brand. Corsa = Nova Style body A not b c d e f version. the very first model. This Nova has the same range ability for fuel eco than the most modern cars. MPG KPG and so on. All that has changed is the durability of the cars structure.

    If regeneration duration comes back, it might be exhaust temp sensor reading too low. There was also an update to address temp sensor calculation, which may have been addressed with the software update it had

    Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. I’m aware of both those issues and as the exhaust temp sensor has already been replaced & software updated I don’t anticipate this issue.
