“The new Vauxhall Corsa, is cheaper and better equipped than ever before. But is the Ford Fiesta still the small car champion?”

I have driven both the Corsa & the Fiesta. Both are equal in my opinion when it comes to driving them however the Fiesta cannot compete with the Corsa when it comes to the interior. The old-fashioned 'nokia' style interior of the Fiesta is trumped by the Corsa's more refined Intelilink system.
just drove this car, its very enjoyable. feels very smooth on the road
in metric system you don't need to say your height in 0.5cm accuracy. 1cm increments are small enough. *flies away*

thats true regarding taking ages to demist the windscreen. i drive a 2001 corsa c 1.2 and it takes forever to demist, plus ice forms on the inside which is very annoying.

The Corsa is a decent car, just look at how many are used by the driving schools and rental car companies. It's not as enjoyable as some others, but it does what you expect it to. Most of us drive shortish distances in urban areas and it's a car that does this adequately.
Impressive how the Corsa's interior rivals the much more expensive Audi A1:s.

I have an Opel (vauxhall) corsa and my mum has an audi A1. I actually think that the interior of the Corsa is better. The A1 may look sportier with leather seats and all... but that's it. The dash is one of the dreariest ever. I actually don't recommend the A1. It's a really good car but it's also a bit overpriced considering what it has to offer. You could get a mini for that price, which is faster, more luxurious and better looking.
I have Corsa 5dr, SE level, diesel (95hp) registered in May 2015 and it has split folding (40/60) of back seat and back of it isn’t metal but upholstery (same as floor in boot). So not all of them are like this one.
Hey Matt, it's really nice of you to say your height in meters! You guys could also say things like fuel economy in both systems, miles per gallon and mp / km per litre.
im so glad that you thought about us people that aren't from the UK (Opel + metric system)
The split seat is such a useful thing, it's bizarre that Vauxhall have chosen to omit it so far up the range. The flat boot floor and fold-flat seats from the previous car were one of its strong points.

My corsa that is 1998 the room is unbelievable in the back I had a 6 foot 2 man in it and he still didn’t touch the seat in front!
Perfect first car thanks for the review
Thanks for using metrics and adding "Opel" in the title! ...adding "l/100km" to mpg would be awesome too.

History, Vauxhall was an established brand in the UK. GM bought them way back and started producing 'Opels' there, but no one knew that brand, presto, the Opels were called Vauxhall. Probably the same story with Holden. On the island of Ireland it's pretty messed up. Ones registered in the South (Republic of Ireland) are badged 'Opel', the exact same car on the other side of the border in the North (Northern Ireland, part of the UK) has the Vauxhall badge.
I have the old one. Put almost 3000 miles on her since mid October and I love it My friends moan about the lack of rear doors. I've had 23 years of 4/5dr cars. I have seen the new one once or twice and haven't had a sit in it
Out of all the reviews I've seen for this car, the Onstar system fails to get a mention almost all of the time. A feature that other hatchbacks don't have. The Onstar system acts as a free Wi-fi hotspot for your car, plus Iphone and Android mobiles can connect to the screen on the dashboard. Basically, I can stream music all the time without using the data on my phone. The model I've purchased also has a hill start assist system and the clutch is easier to use than the car I learnt to drive in (Ford focus Zetec 2012). I have also driven my older brothers new ford fiesta red edition which is also a great car. Admittedly his car has far more power, the seats are nicer and it has a rear view camera for parking but he is paying roughly 60% more than me over the next three years if you include insurance and servicing, on top of the finance deals. The reasons for buying a Corsa over other hatchbacks really comes down to the cost, but the features aforementioned really do make it an enjoyable car to drive and a great first car. I'm really looking forward to picking up a limited edition model this week.

I just watched a review of a BMW i3, had to laugh, no connectivity to android phones available but it will to i phone if you cough up an extra € 300 for that. Onstar looks good value then.
What about the spare tyre? No mention of this and noticed some cars not putting them in as they add in stupid repair kit instead. No spare tyre would be a deal breaker for me.
I have one and it's a real pleasure to drive. I don't know what the negativity in the comments is about. It looks great, drives great and is reliable. Seems like the comments are filled with ford fiesta fans who are bashing the car because it is seen as competition ( I've never looked at it that way, ford fiesta are rather unpopular here in Lebanon).
hello at moment I am driving a Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTI 2011 thinking of geting a 2015 car the new shape vauxhall 1.3 or a Peugeot 208 1.4 HDi 2015 ...think they are about the same size car but which is best ??? any ideas thanks )))
When will car reviewers open the bonnet so we can have a look at the power plant?
I've sat in a couple of the older models ones, and I found them so cheap! The whole gearbox column would move. This one looks a bit better inside, but I still rather go for the Fiesta or a Polo (Which I own)
I have the same 1.0T 5dr that i bought new in 2015. Looks exactly the same as this and those rims. Mine has rear split seat. I also have those rather cheap seats. That 1.0 engine is really really good. Very quiet and is willing. It is very strong and feels good than the Polo 1.0 engines with sluggish sound especially when going harder on accelerator. Corsa 3 cylinder is refined. Now i have 94 000km on the dash and it still feels so good and smooth. Am very happy

Hopefully the OPC/VXR version would look better with a few body kits.
Fantastic car ,I love it
I have (Opel Astra J 2016 1.6 cdti 136 hp J 68000 odometer) and I have problem I start engine first (when it is cold) it sound loudly but it becomes normal when it hotter than first ignite. I went to Opel service and they said that you had better change timing chain. it is so expensive and this problem is prevalent if you want to buy Vauxhall (Opel) think once again. I'm tired of opel's problem. İt is so weird when car is 68000 odometer need to change timing chain.
Anyone know what automatic transmission oil this car uses?
I have a request for a potential review. I would like to see the BMW M4 Gran Coupé being reviewed. Another, more unlikely request is a comparison between the Audi A5 Sportback, BMW M4 Gran Coupé and the Mercedes CLA or CLS.
Minsk Belarus?! Where it comes from in the touch screen?!
Anyone no wher the fuel filter is on a 2009 sxi
got one of these as courtesy car hate it feels cheap small and cramped its a sri and the gear stick is so far forward im leaning forward its killing my back (im disabled so this is a big deal for me) the seats are brick hard combined with the poor suspension it is a very uncomfortable ride you feel every single little bump i would seriously avoid it. lastly the touchscreen display is quite lowdown which isn't great when driving using satnav as it takes your eyes off the road and i know we all do it changing radio stations is a big no no in this car only positive is the cruise control is very easy to use
It's a bit of a running joke that Matt's height seems to change in this he's 5ft 11 in a more recent one he says he's 5ft 10.5. Whilst the difference is very slight, so too is the variance in the legroom in these cars with an inch or so making a big difference. Wouldn't it be better to get measured and state how tall you are?
i have the 1.4 sting edition and the only real thing that i'd say is don't take it on any dirt roads, I had a fiesta and that thing ate them up never complained but took this on it and well it was written off, waiting on my replacement, gravel it handles fine if a wee tad squirly at the start but esp had no idea on dirt

Thanks for using the metric system!!
I’m looking for my first car and i learnt in a Renault Clio signature nav but they are mad expensive. So, I’m debating on a Renault Clio dynamique nav, fiat 500 or a 2015 sting Corsa. But, my hearts set on a Clio. But, i like the interior of the newer Corsa. Idk what imma pick lol.
the only thing I guess that's improved a lot is the interior, apart from the engine of course.
Hi mate. Is there any particular reason my 15 plate Corsa has a slightly different interior? For example, my model doesn't have the same monitors as the ones shown in this video. It's a newer shape model, too.

I feel theres something wrong with me , because I rather like the way it looks compared to the "old" crosa which looked alot like the Hyndai I20 . Funny story when I rented a Corsa I accidentally tried to unlock an I20 parked near it with the same colour.

5 and 11 = 180,34 cm actually, but mat looks a few cm smaller to me....
This actually does look better than the previous generation but not as good as the Adam. And there's still that element of white good/fridge on wheels about it. Still it's a long way away from the Nova.....personally 6 gears in a supermini seems excessive but as I drive an Eighties supermini (a Nova) with just 4 gears and zero fancy-ass electronic stuff...this is a limousine by comparison. And I second Josh Rowlands. Sorry. The presenter is a cutie :P
I don't believe that it could be driven aboout 30 mph in 6th gear normally with 1,4 engine with only one turbo....if it had two turbos, the low-end torque would be good while smaller turbo labours.
Very nice car!!
I always imagined Mat was taller back when he was giving his height in moonspeak! 1795 mm isn't much taller than me!
People using metric system would actually say that they're 180 centimeters or 1.8 meter high
Is it just me that thinks modern cars are getting bigger and bigger all the time! The Corsa is supposed to be a small car But that is anything but small... It's the same with every class, hatchback, saloons, coupes etc.. the size of Britain's roads are not getting any bigger than they where neither are car parks, or the parking bays! I know people say it's because of safety. But compare these cars to there 90s equivalent and it's mad.
Literally no one will be talking about this car after the arrival of the new full-skyactiv Mazda 2 early next year.
There is 1 thing that is same on the exterior is the side indicator
"The material is so cheap and nasty and rough that if you rub your hand on it, you can actually exfoliate your calluses away"🤣 Mat is funny and very easy on the eye

Argantonis It probably is. It's a shame that those in charge at the GM/Opel plant in Spain (where this five-door Corsa is built) didn't bother to move the fuse box while converting the car to right hand drive for Britain. This problem used to be typical of PSA Peugeot Citroën, but apparently it's affecting other manufacturers, too.

It wouldn't be that bad if Vauxhall wasn't percieved as a British car maker. I know the perception is far from the truth but still. It's a minor little detail, but so is rectifying the problem.

Michał Majewski the Chevrolet is fucking ugly and has a cheap quality. GM didn‘t Design the car. The Original is Opel.
Also they have clearly left room for a facelift model in a few years time. For example the front fog lights that are currently facing at a downwards angle at the end will then change to the angle going upwards in the facelift model.. Hence the term "Facelift" This is a common marketing trick purposely done by manufacturers to make the same model of car look "fresher"and therefore attract more customers back that can get one over on their friends etc by having the newer looking model.. But it's just a marketing gimmick. so I'd wait for the "Facelift" model in about 3 years time before buying one of these.

Without having planned it, I have to say that I own two cars, both of which were bought a month before they were replaced, and I wouldn't trade them for the world! My Corsa has stolen my heart!
First glance at it from all angles and it looks like a Fiesta but The Fiesta looks better.. this looks like a Fiesta wanna-be, However i prefer the dashboard of this new Corsa. I think the Fiesta may be a better car though still considering this new Corsa has the same old chassis and running gear as the older Corsa. Who knows though because i have never driven either one of these cars yet

Toyota/Lexus is also notorious for that.
It's not really good for the engine or gearbox to run at 30mph in 6th gear unless hardly any load on the engine. Probably best to stay in 5th untill 40mph.plus must be a close ratio gearbox so 6th is the same as 5th on a 5 speed
What's wrong with a single-piece folding seat? All my cars have had 60/40 splits and I've never needed them.
Here I think im being frugal by riding my sport bike to work that gets barely 40 mpg....

I had a Corsa before one of the older models and never again. It was the worst car I had ever owned and was so happy when I got rid of it. The horrible gears, noisy gutless engine and it even started leaking rain through the footwell. Even if this model is a big improvement the rivals do it better and this looks boring as well.
the front looks good but the back looks like a badly squashed astra and that 1.0 3cyl turbo engine sounds all good with 115bhp there about but its £30 year to tax which is not alot but compared to the 1.0 ecoboost engine in a fiesta with 125bhp is £0 free to tax even renault's 0.9tce is £0-20 tax even on a sandero its the same so really its a bit of a poop engine
Hmmm, I get corporate nose's but the Adam front end just does'nt suit the Corsa! Lets hope this does'nt spread to the other Opel/Vauxhall's. Also the Fiesta is nigh on unbeatable this gen, Ford has a tough job in replacing it in 3-4 years time!
