I don't really know much about the GTC, except that they only appear to be three doors. I'm just about to take over use of my father's SRi. So far, it's been great whenever I've driven it. Keep up with the good work on your channel.

That’s mate 👍🏼 yes they have different suspension set up, bar that more or less the same car.

Cheers Dan for the shoutout and thanks for your advice over Facebook regarding the main beam issue on my Astra H. The Auto Electrician traced it to some cut wires going to the rear fuse box. My Astra was Originally owned by the Surrey fire service, so guess that must have happened when it was decommissioned . It’s sorted out now though. Have a good rest of the weekend 😎👍🏻 Adam

No thank you for supporting the channel and your donations 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Yeah they will have hacked into the wiring to trigger the main beam flashing under emergency light sequence, had a few ex emergency service vehicles and the wiring has been a complete rats nest, never again will I knowingly buy one 😫 Thanks mate have a good weekend your self 👍🏼

Yeah it’s a bit weird when I have decreased the oil from 3.2L to 2.8L in the F40 box in the Saab lol. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

I had the 1.4 petrol equivalent, exact SRi spec as yours bar it being black and on an 11 plate. Unfortunately it had its issues from being a high miler with careless owners but a lot of love later it was happy! Unfortunately written off this past September and im in a f21 116i 3 door now, but i still look fondly on my astra! Heres an interesting fact too - these have a single flick start like mercedes do - even on the manual ones, so rather than holding the key when starting it you just flick it (clutch down ofc) and away you go 🤣

That’s unfortunate let’s hope the BMW stays reliable. Yes those ignitions can be problematic when you have electric issues, as when you turn it to crank it kills the power to everything. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

I had the bi turbo CDTi GTC with 195bhp, decent car and fairly brisk, really liked the looks and the car tbh, was a headturner in the icy white. I then traded it in for a Leon FR tdi 184, light and day tbh, the Leon was so much better at pretty much everything tbh. Still like the GTC though

I just never could get away with the Fiat 2.0 CDTI in these and the 1.6 CDTI was also fiat good when working but wow there are some huge bills to pay when they go wrong especially the dreaded timing chain down the side of the gearbox

The standard astra j and the GTC are very different although the dash is similar, the only things the two share externally is the door handles. The GTC has a different chassis (hence why the GTC is wider and shares the same suspension as the insignia vxr, the suspension isnt lifted either it just appears that way with the size of the wheel arches for the bigger wheels. The gtc still uses the m32 as well for the petrol engines

definitely looks Astra rear suspension not the insignia to me, and the front suspension is exactly the same as the Astra J, bar the lower half of the hub set up is clearly different (hence it looking higher up)

DRL have no part of the MOT bar simply they have to show white light and work….. but only testable on vehicles registered after 1st March 2018 So this 2010 Astra could have them not working, or only 1 working and it would be pass and advise. Providing the dull function that doubles up as the front side lights work as that’s part of the test. With the Astra H they called the 3dr the Sport hatch.I had a three and half year old GTC the same as the one in this video but wasn't impressed with it as when in stop/start mode it sounded like a machine gun starting up but would be okay on the key,then when I came out In the morning I was greeted by both windows being either open slightly of fully down and the headlights are woeful even with upgraded bulbs,which I had to modify to make fit. That car lasted the usual three months before I got bored of It and replaced It but it was the last vauxhall I'll ever buy,shame really as they do look good.

Yeah I know the Astra H were called a Sport Hatch, but they did look more or less the same as 5 door or estate….. these GTC share very little similarity’s, almost a different car all together. Personally for me I’m not a fan of 3 door cars, or massively oversized wheels look a bit ott, not just saying it i prefer the hatch and estate, would have been nice if they had made a regular 3 door Astra J like my SRI…. Like the Astra H Sport Hatch. Yep I hate stop start, very expensive batteries around £250/£300 AGM/EFB, hammers your starter and ring gear on flywheel, plus bar any of that it’s down right annoying….. all just to get £30 road tax, sooner pay the £140 road tax and do without. Yes and halogen projector lamp units are poor at best! Another reason I like the hatch and estate they have regular lights

Yeah just every single time you start the car however many thousands of times that will be in the ownership of the car, unless you want to hammer the ring-gear on your flywheel, starter motor and expensive EFB battery….. but hey what do I know.

i have a 2012 astra gtc sri 2.0cdti .nice solid car but the gearbox is quite stiff but no play . 1st and reverse are hard to get into . do you know what gearbox it would be ? and can i change the gearbox oil on these? cheers

Could be the slave cylinder getting weak. Will be F40 gearbox ( good box) but there is mod you do, change to Castrol TransMax

@@CarAddictGarageNE ok thanks for replying and advice. have only seen 1 good video on here about the job for m40 . which is two bolts basically drain and fill and run a pipe from the top of engine and once it is filled runs out basically and tighten

@jlindell6532 No it’s different for the F40 to the M32 There is no check plug on the F40 … drain at the bottom and fill at the top under battery tray.

Keep an eye on you KZread on the latest saab 9-3 ( it uses the same F40) I have a video on that of changing the oil
