yeah this is a “delayed steal” or thats what I called it growing up. They are probably going to call it something different in 10 years😂. Same premise just take a shuffle and if you time it right go. only for righties.

I wish more guys in HS stole aggressively. To get thrown out, it takes 1) a pitch the catcher can handle 2) the catcher handles it 3) decent transfer to throwing hand 4) decent throw 5) the SS/2B properly covering 6) the throw being handled 7) the tag being applied 8) the tag beating runner

We have a very good catcher on my HS team and he legit prays before each game that someone steals. Not many do 😅😂
This is how a guy like Kyle Tucker (who has like 30th percentile sprint speed) was able to steal 30 bases at a VERY efficient clip! Nice video!

My high school coaches have been teaching us this I'm glad to see other people teaching it
It's weird that you give a special name to whats just standard base running/stealing mechanics we have been doing for decades.
Our 3rd base coach on my college team loves this and it’s literally so easy and free when you learn it.
Instructions unclear, I now ride in the car instead of the bench.
My high school coach taught us this 10 years ago. We made it to state because we were so good at manufacturing runs. We weren’t the most skilled but man did we work other teams. We even did double suicide squeezes where there’s a runner on 2nd and 3rd and the runner on 2nd would steal 3rd and then it was a squeeze with essentially two runners running crossing home back to back. It was wildly successful
Brilliant content! Wish you were around when I was a kid learning the game. Great stuff for the new gens. Keep up the amazing work coach RAC

Please define a few years because I was doing this over 20yrs ago. I think it's only had the silly name for a few years but this way is easily the most effective for average speed baserunners.

Exactly, 30 years ago here. New term doesn't make it new.
I learned a trick from Dee gordon, where you would take suge a big lead you’d be halfway between bases. the pitcher can throw to first and i’d be at second before the ball gets around. it if he threw at second you can safely get back to first before the ball gets back. my coaches hated this and loved it at the same time.
Bro his phone fell out of his pocket at the end 😂
This is great. You’re already in motion which cuts out the biggest chuck of time when stealing. That and instead of running from a dig you’re already moving. I’m a youth coach and did this instinctively but struggled to teach it to kids that didn’t instinctively do it. Thank you.
Best baseball KZreadr on the KZread platform ❤
Actually used this last weekend, thanks CoachRac🤙
Nice thanks coach rac 😀
Yeah. This worked super well for the Yankees this year, their record should reflect such.
You got me into bolts they feel wayyy better not gunna lie they feel good thanks coach
bro coach rac is the best thank you for all the coaching 🔥🔥
the games within the game.. awesome... I learned couple other ways including this "vault" steal, to swipe a bag in early 2000s.. ball is fun when you actually dig into all the things you can do.
The older I get the more I rely on this
Thanks rac for all ur great tips that I use in game
Patrick Bailey does this sometimes. He’s a catcher and not extremely fast so pitchers tend to forget about him when he’s on first
Thanks coach rac
It's like an anime "whoa it's the vault steal technique!"
I love this guy
I loved stealing bases back in high school ball. The satisfaction of hitting a single and being on 3rd within the next 2 pitches was out of this world lol
I understand literally zero of what you said, but it seems great!
I’m 26, this idea has been around for a lot longer than “a couple years” lol
I don’t play baseball, always wished i did. But i do love the content
Nice glove aria sick
I learned this almost 15 years ago.. i thought it was common knowledge 😮
I picked this up and it has helped even tho I’m fast I’m 11 playing 90ft bases instead of 70ft
Volpe taught me this last year
Swear it's been around since 1990. They just term everything an call it new. It's called a shuffle steal an. Ricky Henderson used it
I’m definitely saying Rac taught me this weekend
Been around for a long time bro
Anthony Volpe makes a living off of this style in New York.
This will help a lot for my JV baseball team I’m bout to have 15 stolen bases this season
Coach rac is the goat 🐐
Did this through all of juco and it single handedly got my only d1 offer
“Few years” hahaha
I don’t play baseball anymore, but this would’ve helped a lot back then
I use to use this when I was on second. Would time the pitchers look back and when he would look back towards home I was off
This is how I as an average speed taller dude was able to steal bases. This along with not being afraid to get dirty.
The beat: "Sausalito turkey honey ham and salami"
Lol that's why every half decent pitcher has different timings when runners are on! You got your quick pitch your regular timing your high leg kick your no leg kick and the dreaded just stand there and wait for the runner to panic.
@cartershutler44

Yup my favorite was getting a runner who would try this shit on the second pitch and I didn't do a leg kick and they would be caught dead. 😂
Ill try this week at My tournament
Been doing this for years with Domingo Ayala!!!!😂
Coach rack it’s probably meant to be for you to be a coach because you’re really good at it. You’re high schoolers must be real Happy to have you as a cool coach. Wish you made the big leagues but I feel it was meant to be.
Works every time in the show
This has always been a thing. Some people call it U-C-L-A
Can you make a little league version pls 😅 cause when the ball passes the plate we can have are leads ( sorry if you have made one already)
That glove is beautiful
This has only been around a few years... yeah the turn of the 20th century
lol we learned this at my hs like a month and a half ago 😂, we use the UCLA timing
We did this a couple years ago for the first time. No one was thrown on out using it. Last year we didn't use quite as much and one got thrown out, but he went a little early and pitcher stepped off. It's worth using.
Awareness is key just cause your on base dosent mean we stop trying to pickup on the pitcher and his tendencies had a lot of great coaches that would allow me to do this especially when a pitcher was showing bad body language I stole home like this once and actually almost got hit by the pitch sliding in 😂😂😂
Awesome thank you sir!
acuña better be watching he woulda stolen a lot more bases he doesn’t even do this yet

Yes that's what most coaches I've worked with will say. And me being a pitcher I knew to never get in a rhythm of coming set then Making my delivery. Always change your timing each pitch
It works
Idk why but this guy is giving me like aggressively nice church bro vibes
Anthony Volpe steals bases this way
Thank you
Laughs in Pudge Rodriguez
Man as a catcher, I’ve been doing this for a long time😭
I have the steal record for my school that I set in 2009 at 31 in a regular season. I used this on occasion. You have to mix it up. If I was that sure of a pitcher, I was gone anyway. No need to shuffle.
NOT THE PHONE 😆💀
So funny, I used to do this when I played and never know there was a specific name for it! I am slow, so any help I could get I took it! lol.
Is this not just a secondary lead lmfao i don’t see what’s so revolutionary here 😂
U C L A is a good way to time rythem
I have a game Friday so i might try this
I tried this in game today they tried to pick me off but they couldn’t get the throw to beat me to second one of the best tips I’ve learned thanks rac
i used to do this all the time but you gotta have your timing down and at least a lil fast or you're gonna get picked
“Only been around a few years” lol
Me doing already thinking it’s just the way I steal 👁️👄👁️
I saw Trea do this in the NLDS and I thought he got a bad jump and still made it with his speed, never knew it was a technique
Use to do this even as a slower kid my teammates called me the ninja 😂😂
I see you have a new glove can we see your updated glove collection?
Bro I’ve been doing this since 5th grade lol leading in stolen bases since 2012 so I mean it works.
Immediately recognize this field. Conditioning coach claimed many victims running up the embankment in the background 😂
I just run right as he lifts his leg up, I steal every time
My coach teaches this with me as you tabs 1 step off and than you time up the pitcher like u c l a and while you are doing Taft you are shuffling very far away that is since you are so close to the bag the pitcher won’t pick off.
Anthony Volpe does this all the time
My coach shows me how to steal or go back to base
I always just steal the base when they pick off because I’m fast and they don’t expect it
My highschool coach teaches us this
Highschool coaches this, we call it “new school”
When you play softball and have to choose between a steal or a lead.
I'm 6'3, 260lb. When I was playing baseball I was around 6'1, 6'2 and between 210 and 250 (as a teenager and adult, when you're actually allowed to steal where I'm from), so not fast. This rhythm trick is how I used to steal second, sometimes even third. I played mostly lower-level stuff though, so I'd take 2-3 long-legged hops since I had the time. I only had to be careful if the catcher had a cannon.
