yeah this is a “delayed steal” or thats what I called it growing up. They are probably going to call it something different in 10 years😂. Same premise just take a shuffle and if you time it right go. only for righties.

I wish more guys in HS stole aggressively. To get thrown out, it takes 1) a pitch the catcher can handle 2) the catcher handles it 3) decent transfer to throwing hand 4) decent throw 5) the SS/2B properly covering 6) the throw being handled 7) the tag being applied 8) the tag beating runner

My high school coach taught us this 10 years ago. We made it to state because we were so good at manufacturing runs. We weren’t the most skilled but man did we work other teams. We even did double suicide squeezes where there’s a runner on 2nd and 3rd and the runner on 2nd would steal 3rd and then it was a squeeze with essentially two runners running crossing home back to back. It was wildly successful

I learned a trick from Dee gordon, where you would take suge a big lead you’d be halfway between bases. the pitcher can throw to first and i’d be at second before the ball gets around. it if he threw at second you can safely get back to first before the ball gets back. my coaches hated this and loved it at the same time.

I'm 6'3, 260lb. When I was playing baseball I was around 6'1, 6'2 and between 210 and 250 (as a teenager and adult, when you're actually allowed to steal where I'm from), so not fast. This rhythm trick is how I used to steal second, sometimes even third. I played mostly lower-level stuff though, so I'd take 2-3 long-legged hops since I had the time. I only had to be careful if the catcher had a cannon.
