Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park

The Vasquez Rocks Natural Area and Nature Center is a 932 acre park known for its fantastic rock formations, extensive Hollywood film history and a little bit of the old Wild West. Located in the Sierra Pelona mountains east of Santa Clarita within Los Angeles county, roughly 45 minutes from the city of Los Angeles itself, there are plenty of things to do here. Make sure to check out its history in the visitor center, hike along the nature trail and the geology trail and definitely, definitely check out the main attraction itself, which has been featured in many movies, such as Star Trek, Bill and Ted, J and Silent Bob, Austin Powers and even music videos like Michael Jackson and Radiohead. You are even allowed to climb up it! It was a lot of fun. Check out our Los Angeles playlist below too.

We live close enough that we can trailer our horses there for a morning ride. A portion of the PCT runs in a deep canyon with a stream and some interesting grottos. Sometimes I go trail running there, too. I don't like heights, so I don't climb. Thanks for sharing! hadn't heard about the witch's hat.

That’s awesome! I wish I could do that! We love horses, but we’ve only ridden them three times 🤣. I gathered from the area that it was very beautiful and quiet compared to other areas.

It was a nice little gem of a place. Couldn't make them, but they have stargazing events, among other things, on the weekends.
