I got one question. How that audience can sit during this performance is unfathomable. I was not there because they would still be wondering why I am yelling at the top of my voice HALLELUJAH!!!!! I'm just sayin...

Rest in Peace Daryl Coley you will be missed.
I am still listening to this song, December 18, 2019. I have the C.D. purchased back in the 90's at Circuit City.😁 No one can sing this song like these black artists.

This song brings back so many wonderful memories. I attended JHS 193 in the Bronx. Our music teacher Jerry Mccants had us do this song. AWESOME
Thank you for posting this video!! I have loved this album since 1992 but could never find video footage. This makes me so happy!
Although the video is old the song is classic and still great for today's people and for all eternity. HALLELUJAH LORD JESUS!
I LOVE the way these folks show their zest for their love of Our Savior!!!! This is the way ALL of us Christians should be when singing to THE ONE who has saved us from the awful realms of hell!!! Love you Various Artists!! :-D I have the need to dance also when listening to this on my WOW Christmas album! The LORD loves dancing & movement for Him! Make a joyful sound unto the LORD!
I like the classical versions too, but this one holds a special place of honor in my heart & CD collection... When I play & sing this version, I am obeying God’s word in that I am "sincerely" coming before Him with a joyful song & worshiping Him with gladness & praise... And if Mr. Handel is with our Father he is singing & loving it too!...Hallelujah to the Lamb!!
Mervyn Warren, the composer and director here, came to Utah and directed our choir,' Debra Bonner Unity Gospel Choir, on December 15 , and 22 2016, at the UCCU Event Center at Utah Valley University. He was a pleasure and awesome to work with.
Sing Daryl Coley awesome voice
This version puts a big smile on my face. WOW!!!

"KING OF KINGS AND LORDS AND LORDS"; "HE SHALL REIGN FOREVER AND EVER." GOD THANK YOU FOR YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST. THANK YOU FOR THE HEAVENLY VOICES OF THE VARIOUS ARTISTS (AT THAT TIME).
This song never gets old ❤️
After all these years and this song still brings a big smile to my face. All of those Voices soaring above the heavens. You can't help but be moved by the Spirit.
Yes, yes, yes! Love this song. Listen to it over and over and over again. Rest In Paradise Dear Brother Darryl Coley. His adlib definitely 'STELLAR".
Fabulous , fantastic, awesome, glory indeed to God for His gift.
Hands down, this is the BEST Christmas song of all! I just wish the introductee or emcee didn't have to interupt the song towards half the end of the song but I love this updated version! This gives me goosebumps all over!
I remember this stellar awards performance. Classic!!
May you all here now be healed in the name of Jesus.
I agree thanks for posting I remember when this happened, we were so excited. God bless you.

Clifton Davis and Mervyn Warren Jr. (the Director of this song, Grammy Winning Arranger and Producer, former member of the Grammy winning Accapella Group Take 6, Musical Genius, so gifted Quincy Jones snatched him up and this is one of the many Masterpieces they created) both went to Oakwood University together a Seventh-Day Adventist University.

i love this songg.!!!!
@laieyla "Halleluja" means "Praise the Lord!" an exclamation of joy, praise, and thanksgiving; with great joy praise God for all He's done and is doing - He is worthy, He is Holy, give Him glory for He is with us. That's why we say and sing Hallelujah and from our soul with dancing and joy. Many songs have different renditions and this version we listened to is one with life and joy in the Lord.
EXCELLENT....PRAISE GOD!!!...LUV IT....
I remember this lol. Sing y'all!!
DARYL!!!
When I tell you that handful of sopranos held it DOWN!!!
If Handel was alive to hear this. who wouldve been like, " Yall better upgrade my song!" LMBO!!!

Thought the choir did fantastic❤❤
chj333, YOU WERE ALMOST THERE, I REMEMBER A PERFORMANCE SIMILAR TO THIS, WHERE THERE WAS A 'WHITE CHOIR' WHO STARTED OUT SINGING IT ON A 'AWARDS SHOW'. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WITH QUINCY JONES DIRECTING, THE BLACK CHOIR CAME OUT AND STARTED SINGING THIS VERSION. I'LL NEVER FOR THAT PERFORMANCE AS LONG AS I LIVE. I'M STILL WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO POST 'THAT VERSION' (WHICH WAS DONE IN IT'S ENTIRETY). THAT'S FOR POSTING THIS ONE ANYWAY THOUGH.
@fateemah2 me too.....i finally found...we are sing this for christmas!!!
I wish you could post the 'original' from the awards show where the white choir was singing this, and this choir came out on stage and they started singing the song together, the performance was powerful. Thanks for posting this anyway though.
Rev. DARYL COLEY - Enough said.
This is the 1992 Quincy Jones arrangement, probably what I heard on the NBC Today Show at Christmas time around 1999 or 2000. A very stirring version less commercially was done in Atlanta at a "Soulful Celebration" event, KZread link is: ajuq2-mUgO .
REV. DARYL COLEY! ENOUGH SAID!
How is it possible that the Clark Sisters are not apart of this???
The advert messed up everything.. great arrangement! :-(
Anyone know where I can get the mp3 of this? I've heard this version playing on the radio for YEARS, and I LOVE it!! But can't find it anywhere!
Go Sopranos
Yall see Yolanda Adams in the back in the red probally when she was unknown
Isn’t there a version with Karen Clark, Hezekiah Walker, etc
The other version I'm talking about "Quincy Jones" actually lead the choir.

Yes love the Quincy Jones version as well
Thanks for posting but do you have the 'other version', where there's a white choir singing the original version, and all of a sudden they look to the left and see a black choir coming on to the stage singing 'this version'? It's actually a little longer than this one and the audience was so moved the stood on their feet clapping. The appearance was on another awards so of course.
I thought that was Daryl Coley! Sang chior sang!!!

@laieyla It's not a "true shame". Everyone has different taste in music; that's why there's United Methodist traditional churches and Pentacostal; there are churches to meet everyone's personalities and tastes. It does not mean their song rendition is a shame or wrong, it's different than your taste. Heaven will be rejoicing and dancing. There are many songs with different renditions and if one doesn't like that type, don't listen. It's all good in God's ears.
Anyone notice the man from the show Amen?
